Proper capitalization » Use proper capitalization in registering; first letters should be capitalized and special characters or numbers shouldn’t be used.
Order » Japanese and East Asian characters should be registered with the surname first then given name, while for non East-Asians, it should be the other way around. Examples: Yamada Taro, Liu Hui Fen, Jane Doe, Arthur Kirkland.

Rated R » burningASHES is rated R and therefore swearing, gore, violence, and sexual content may be present in IC threads. However, these mature contents shouldn’t be written explicitly.
Explicit content » Threads that would contain explicit mature content must be posted in the Mature board. The said board has restricted access; PM a staff member to view or post there. You must have 30 cumulative posts (meaning all IC posts from all your characters) and be 14 years of age and above.
Offensive material » Threads containing information or situations that are too upsetting to other members may be closed or deleted. This applies OOC, IC, and in the chatbox.
OUT OF CHARACTER MANNERS ⇙
OOC ≠ IC » Please don’t bring any IC feuds to OOC conversations. You’d be surprised by how many people dislike one another due to their characters’ actions.
R-rating not applicable » Keep all OOC conversations as clean as you can. This means no excessive swearing or posting of explicit mature content.
On respect and disagreements » Respect all members and keep disagreements low key. This means arguments should be kept out of threads or the chatbox; if you have something to discuss, do it over PMs. If things get out of hand, PM a staff member and we’ll see what we can do. The staff would not tolerate any kind of drama within the forums.
Spamming/flaming » Don’t do it to other members or the staff; that’s plain rude and this kind of behavior won’t be tolerated.
CHARACTER CREATION ⇙
One character per account » Enough said.
Applications to be done in a week » This means that you have one week to write your character’s application until it gets moved to the Inactive Characters board. However, if you can’t make it within a week, you may ask for an extension and the staff will be more than happy to grant it.
No double faces » Once a playby is claimed, it can’t be used for another character again. Of course there will be special cases, such as twins as characters. Other than that, claiming playbys is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

On respect and patience » Please respect and be patient with your RP partner/s. They can’t always reply within an hour or a day.
No OOC posts » If you have any OOC concerns, PM your partner/s or ask in the chatbox instead of posting a full OOC topic.
No godmodding and metagaming » Godmodding means to control another character’s actions. [more info here] Metagaming is taking OOC information and using it IC. [more info here] Both are strictly prohibited here in bA.
Proper spelling and grammar » We’re not grammar Nazis, but all should observe proper spelling and grammar. If you want, simply run your post through Microsoft Word or a similar program.
POSTING REQUIREMENTS ⇙
No one-liners » Minimum post length should be five sentences, and as much as possible try to match your RP partner/s post length, as courtesy to them.
On word limits » Topic starters may set a word limit on their threads. If this is the case, please follow the word limit set.
IMAGES⇙
Av/sig relevance » Avatars and signatures must have something to do with your character, not something random. Most preferably, they should feature your character’s playby.
Size » Avatars can be a maximum of 200x250 pixels, and image signatures can be a maximum of 490x250.
Suitable for all ages » Though the board is rated R, the rating isn’t applied to graphics. This means no nudity or other explicit content.
Width » Any images posted within the board shouldn’t be wider than 490 pixels so as not to stretch the layout.

OOC rules apply » Again, enough said.
No advertising » If you need to advertise, do so in the Advertisement board.
ACTIVITY ⇙
One month inactivity » Characters that do not post in a month will be deemed inactive, their applications moved to the Inactive Characters board, and their member group set to Inactive. Their topics may also be closed. If you will be inactive for a certain amount of time, please post in the Away board to avoid all of those mentioned earlier.
Inactive characters and playbys » If your character is deemed inactive, the playby they use will be up for grabs.
Returning » If your character is deemed inactive but you decide to return, PM a staff member so your character can be ‘revived’ in the forum. However, we can’t ensure that your character’s playby will still be available.
