She was still adjusting to life in the clan. Embarrassed that she still needed to learn how to hunt, the young female avoided any hunting parties and thusly a number of opportunities to socialize and bond with the others. At these times she'd often find a place to hide and observe them, hoping to pick up on what to do. For right now she was practicing, with a rather unlucky hare that happened to cross her path at the wrong time. This was much different from going after gazelle, but it was still useful in learning. After chasing it various ways and cutting it off, she tripped up the small creature and held it down. But she didn't have the heart to kill the poor thing when she wasn't even hungry. Decidely, she gave it a light bop on the head with her paw and let it run off to safety.
An odd-eyed gaze of green and amber swept over the area, rather hoping no one had seen that. Luckily no one was nearby in the hazy afternoon. But rather than cheer her due to a lack of audience, it disheartened her to feel so disconnected here. The times she was around members, she was often quiet and simply overlooked by them. She had seen others her age, but they had seemed so happy and bubbly with each other and she feared making everything awkward by joining in with them. One exception she had noticed was a male hybrid her age often alone, but he didn't seem too happy and was rather intimidating. Certainly not someone who seemed pleasant to be around. Jewel stepped through the tall grasses and over to the slight shade of a tree rather downcast. A sizable rock was beneath, and she flopped down on it laying her spotted head on her paws. At this rate, she'd never have any friends. Why did she have to be so shy still? It was a frustration to her when she was supposed to be making a difference in herself, trying to be brave. She had been laying there several minutes, mulling over such things, and staring out absent-mindedly at the valley before her. But the swish of grass finally drew her out of her thoughts and her ears flicked back towards the noise. Someone coming behind her? The adolescent forced back any thoughts of it being an attacker, and calmly turned to see what had decided to approach her. -------------------- |

The world was quiet today. A pair of birds swooped by Tashee's head, and she pawed at them lazily. Not that having birds in the valley was a bad thing--in fact, it was a welcome change to have the little things flutter about. They were much more interesting to watch than the herds--all they did was sit around and wander around the land, always keeping an eye out for the Nekurans. She watched the two fly out and across the land, floating higher and higher before spiraling down to smoothly land on a tree deeper in the valley. From her perch up on the 'side' of the valley, she could see almost everything. The birds, the herds--the entire land. If she looked far enough, she could see the edges of the desert. Then again, the cheetah didn't have to look very far at all to see that. Her gaze swept back to the tree. To the side of it, a blur of motion caught her attention. Another cheetah had burst into a bubble of activity, running and pinning something to the ground, only to...let it go? She leaned her head forward, squinting her eyes at the cheetah. It was Jewel, by the looks of it. Only she would let something go after going to all the effort of catching it. The adolescent rose from her perch with a slight stretch and crept down the path to the large tree. Before she arrived, though, Jewel's ears twitched and Tashee found herself staring into the other cheetah's eyes. "Last time I checked, I think the idea of hunting is usually to catch something. Not let it go." She said with a slight laugh. A slight smile curled up her muzzle--just enough to let Jewel know she meant no harm. -------------------- |

One mismatched pair of eyes met the next, amber and green against brown and blue. So it was one of the twins then. The back of her ears wasn't visible to Jewel, so she racked her brain trying to remember which one had the blue eye on the left. Tashee maybe?
Before she could manage out a hi and guess at the name, the hare was brought up. So she saw that... "I just wasn't hungry," she responded with a somewhat awkward tone, though she forced herself not to look down at her paws. There was no dead give away that I can't hunt, she assured herself. Then something occurred to her. "So you're not hanging with your sister?" It was just the two of them as far as she could see. Here she was with an opportunity to avoid being socially awkward. There was no one with the other adolescent, no laughing and talking she would be interrupting. With this in mind, she had to make certain she achieved the right impression. After all, it would be nice to have a friend her own age in this new home. -------------------- |
