I do watch cartoons. I watch them online when no one is looking.

So, my friends asked what to do this weekend to hang out. My suggestion: go see the Lion King. I've got them to go see Jane Eyre and a play before, and I was surprised I was able to convince them of it, so maybe this will work out too. I'm hoping, anyway. I really want to see it.

I saw it, and it was BEAUTIFUL!
The 3D was just fantastic. I felt like I was seeing the movie for the first time! And so did Skips, because I was talking about the sheer amazingness of it in the c-box xD -------------------- |

That movie was and epic of epic epicness. Especially in theaters. Ooh. I need to see it again just so I can take it all in one more time. I wish the c-box had a recorded transcript that could be saved. We discussed a lot on it. There's so much to say. So many things I want to discuss. Opinions, reactions, how it compares to seeing it so many years ago on VHS. It was absolutely brilliant. If anything, it makes me want to see the Broadway play even more now. There's a reason it's on my list of all time favorite movies.

I enjoyed it very much....very very etc much.
Blaming my theater for this, but the sound sucked when I saw it unfortunately. The visual was incredible though. Artistically speaking, it was easier to see each and every layer in a scene which was awesome. -------------------- 4 - Adult creatures

saw it Friday, it was awesomesauce!I know exactly what you mean, Hiraka. I noticed a lot of smaller details more in 3D, like all the lil pieces of vegetation in front of the view to make it look more like being in it. the sound where I was did pretty great. but it was like watching the movie all over again for the first time almost. granted I was entranced by the depth the 3D gave it and just kept trying to look at everything in every scene lol. can't help but think that if it had been in 3D when I was little I would've been even more blown away by it. I got to go to the very theater where I saw the original in 1994, which was awesome cause it brought it full circle really. which meant there was like a 2 hour drive to get there lol. my mom would've preferred if we went to the nearby theaters, but none of them got The Lion King in, darn them. granted one couldn't cause they can't play digital movies. happily found I wasn't the only teenager there either. whole group of them in the row behind me that sand along to the songs too -------------------- |

Yes, Kaz! That's exactly what I'm talking about! There were absolutely times when I multi-tasking, counting the layers, singing and saying every line from the movie in my head. Some had 3 layers, including the character themselves, but usually it was way more. The scene where Simba's following Rafiki toward the pond was ri-di-cu-lous with layers. Same with the scene of Timon and Pumbaa singing 'In the Jungle'.
Seeing it this way is going to be so helpful in my future drawings. That's really cool though, that it was almost the exact same situation as when you first saw it. Can't remember when I first saw it, but I remember my first vhs of it. *shrug* And I forgot to mention this last time, but, though it was a 9pm showing, my mom and I weren't the only ones our ages there. The theatre wasn't full, but there was an amazing range of viewers. Maybe like two little kids in the theatre total haha. Otherwise, it was older couples and teens from the looks of it. Sadly, there was no singing in our theater though. :( -------------------- 4 - Adult creatures

I love loooved picking out all of the separate layers while watching the movie. A couple of times, I even noticed when the 3D 'stopped'. Like when they were in the jungle, or especially at Pride Rock near the end. You could see where a couple of hyenas or lionesses weren't 3d-ified.
And same with me! I was so distracted by the 3D in some parts that I wasn't even saying the lines internally, or stopping myself from singing along. I loved seeing it on the big screen, though. I'd never seen it like that before, so it was an awesome experience for me. There were so many little things I'd never noticed, or just never appreciated. It was just so beautiful...pretty sure I'm going to see it again soon. I went at around 5, so it was mainly little kids and teenage girls my age xD I heard a LOT of adults laughing a little harder than they should have, though. I guess it had been a while since they saw the movie xD -------------------- |

I saw the movie yesterday, wheeeeee! I decided to see it in regular projection minus the 3D, as I wanted to focus on the brilliance of the animation. SO PRETTYYYYYYY. If one was really looking, you could sort of tell the things they had fixed up for the 3D effect and such... but otherwise, BRILLIANCE. So many details that you can't normally see on your own copies on a smaller screen, I was like "...HEY LOOK AT THAT"
And the sound...gah. It was worth the money alone. I swear, I heard things I never had before. It was just lovely. What really got me though, was that this movie is being introduced to an all new generation. There were so many parents there with their young children, surely seeing the film for the first time. The little girl next to me was asking her mother all sorts of questions, and it just warmed my heart to know that now all these kids can grow up with THE classic too. |

I saw it this afternoon and was giddy the entire time! 8D
Did anybody else notice that the clouds were gone as Simba was running towards Mufasa's ghost, or was that just me? |

I convinced my mother and little brother to go with me again, and it was JUST AS PERFECT. I'm in like the best mood ever, haha. It's just so beautiful on the big screen. I don't even know how to describe it! Oh!~ I noticed TWO new things this time that I swear I've never seen before. One, after the Gorge scene, Scar's talking with the pride and everyone's so sad. For one brief second, Zazu reaches over and curls his wing around Sarabi's paw. It's the cutest thing ever! Also, at the end and in the rain--before Simba's ascent to the throne, he walks out by the lionesses and such. As he comes down, you can distinctly see Zazu mouthing 'welcome home' even though there's no dialogue. I can't believe I didn't see that one before! -------------------- |

Don't you love it when you discover new things about movies you love watching over and over? Some movies just never seem to get old, and that might be one of the reasons why, in my opinion.
