| The dry desert stretches on for miles and miles, as far as the eye can see. The sands are hot, the sun overhead is even hotter, and there is no shade at all to protect those who dare to travel here from the elements. Many tend to avoid it if possible, for there is little water or food to fuel them either. The journey IS possible, however, as several before have made it alive, traveling to the lush jungles that taunt from the far border. But beware the dangers of the desert: sandstorms, buzzards, mirages... they will claim you if you allow them to. |
No creature's land. Conditions do not permit animals to settle here. |

When he was still in Nekura Valley, performing his majordomo tasks, Nikolai has seen such faces sometimes. Back then he still was a friendly companion - someone to talk to, to hear reassuring words from. He has almost forgotten how it feels to help others, focused on simply living for another day. But the sight of Ankhese, who clearly looked blue, somehow woke these memories back. He didn't feel compelled to help her, but the leopard knew it was a good thing to do. Perhaps even worth a shot. A part of him wanted to try and ease her pain, as he was doing in the Nekura. At the very least, she will leave, and then he would be able to return to his grey day to day life.
"You know... naythur do I." He started, sitting down to gaze at Ankhese with something between cautiousness and compassion, though his eyes were still cold. His voice, however, changed. It felt a bit less sharp, as he started trying to help his acquaintance, name of whom he didn't even know. "When I voz a cub, I lived far north from heer, months of wundering away. I voz growing up viz my mother, and a yeer after I voz born, she gave life to my broder, Misha. Ve led a happy life, until I hef tot him how to fight. It voz a mistake. He haz used dat knowledge to beet me and kill my mother, when I voz down." Nikolai did not realise, that by helping her, he was also unconsciously helping himself. Memories, after all, did haunt him. Though his voice was emotionless, she could easily see in his eyes, how painful that memory was. "But dat voz long ago. So much haz huppened." He hoped, by revealing a part of his story, he would provoke Ankhese to do the same. Perhaps it would help. Perhaps even talking about his past will be enough to keep her occupied for long enough to soothe her memories. |
