plotting pages! this is where you will be posting your plotting profile. here you will find out who is going to be your best friend, your soul mate, and even your worst enemy. it is really just a drama fiasco, and somewhat of a popularity contest. there are sub forums separating the students and the teachers around the board.

the chapel! st marks is technically an episcopalian school, though they've since progressed from when they were first founded. now they are basically nondenominational, though the name for their old central meeting place has stuck, and students continue to gather here two mornings a week to hear announcements. there is also a grand piano students can use to practice on, and the advanced choir class meets here to rehearse during the school day.

the hallways! something has to connect all of the areas of the school, right? the hallways of smp have huge stained-glass, floor-to-ceiling windows and glossy hard-wood floors that we just redone last year. student's lockers are also made of oak, and in accordance with the school's age old trust-your-neighbor policies, have no locks. good luck keeping your laptop safe, kiddies!

first floor classrooms! on the first floor you'll find math and science classrooms, geared towards preparing students to be mathematicians, architects, ecologists, marine biologists, nurses, doctors, dentists, engineers, and more. Try not to sit too near to the front of the science classrooms, because though mr. young has a very healthy appreciation for his subject, he tends to show it by shouting on occasion! you wouldn't want to go deaf, would you?

second floor classrooms! on the second floor of the main classroom building are all of the humanities courses: english and history/social science. if you want to be a museum curator, historian, lawyer, author, politician, professor of literature, social worker, psychologist, or are just a bookworm, this is the place for you. but remember, don't ever get on ms. sandburg's bad side, or you won't be hearing the end of it for all four years of your high school career at smp.

arts wing! smp prides itself on not just being academically rigorous, but on having a strong arts program as well. the arts wing was donated in 1967 by some old fellow no one cares about anymore, and contains 6 classrooms, several pottery wheels, a dark room, and a great view out over the campus. there are many classes to choose from, starting with drawing and painting and progressing to the more obscure, like glassblowing and fashion design. you can even embark on an independent study, with the help of ms. gaines, if you're a junior or senior.

music school ! here's where all instrumental and voice lessons take place. this building is the oldest one on the entire campus, so take care not to smoke inside (not that you would want to anywhere in the school, right?) otherwise your parents will have to pay dearly, and they just might not be able to afford it.

library! last but not least, the library is certainly the best on-campus place to go to study. it's always quiet, and there are limitless resources on hand for student use. there are over nine thousand volumes on the shelves, and a bank of brand new apple computers line the windows, where students can do research and look out over the dorms at the same time.

auditorium! the auditorium is where all school plays are rehearsed and put on. singing groups also perform here during the school year, and in the summer time, this place is used as storage for the boarder's items that they don't wish to bring home. there are three floors of seating: the ground floor, the balcony, and several broadway-esque boxes for members of the new orleans community who come to see the student productions.

cafeteria! smp's cafeteria is quite typical, despite the schools half a billion dollar endowment. they haven't bothered yet to hire new kitchen staff or get rid of the old wood tables that still have scratchings from the alumni on them: ol + kt = lurvvvvv forever, etc. wether or not the food is decent depends on the night that you decide to come: when there's chicken or pasta you'll be fine, but when the night for mystery chili comes once a month you'd best be planning to go out for pizza.

the quad! after school and during frees, some students go straight back to their dorm rooms, and some go to their sports practices or games. for students that want to do neither, there's a third option: hanging out by the quad. it's exactly what it sounds like, a big square piece of land with some benches and a water fountain that you can throw pennies into to make wishes (legend is, if you throw at exactly 11:11 pm or am, it'll come true.)

student lounge! everyone's favorite hang-out area. there's couches and a tv, as well as vending machines chock full of junk food, and a kitchen area where you can cook your own food, if you so desire. it's usually pretty load here, what with the tv, multiple conversations going on, and occasional food fights, so it's not the best place to work. the school bookstore is adjacent the student lounge as well.

gym and fields! saint marks is blessed with an incredible amount of space, which is what makes them able to have three sports fields for lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer, a baseball/softball field, and a huge gym with an olympic sized pool on the first floor, a snack bar, fitness room, and dance studios on the second, two basketball and volleyball courts on the third, and an ice rink of the hockey team in the "basement." exercise your heart out!

faculty housing! the majority of the faculty live on campus... after all, this is a boarding school. those with families get houses of their own, though most are assigned single apartments in buildings with other teachers. thank god they don't have to share bathrooms like the students do, though.

beaker hall! here's where all of the freshman live. rooms have 3 people in them, and are relatively small. you must have to share bathrooms and showers. the dorms are locked during the day to make sure students aren't fooling around with each other instead of going to class, but if you have the money, you just might be able to buy yourself a key back in. check in to the dorms every night for freshman is ten o'clock, eleven o'clock for the juniors, and twelve for the seniors.

nash's bar and grill! nash's bar and grill is a small local restaurant that has been around for about fifty years now. owned by the nash family, the restaurant is well known for its chicken pot pie as well as having a plethora of cold drinks for you to chose from. the night hours are usually full of the biker crowds, coming in and hanging out at the bar. there is a small pool table, as well as a seating area for those who would like to dine in rather than take their food to go. it really is a great place to meet up with some friends, or just hang out for a bite to eat with no rush or hurry.

city park! the city park is a very popular place for teenagers to hang out at. with a large set of playground equipment, four sets of swing sets with two swings a piece, and a large carousel are enough to bring out the innocent youth in anyone. a small creek runs through the park, where little kids like to wade in the summer seasons. the water doesn't come up too high unless there is a lot of rain, of course.

carnival casino! the carnival casino is one of the many non legit areas of new orleans. this part of town was meant solely for the adults, but somehow, the teenagers manage to find ways to sneak into the casinos and gamble the night away. if you're lucky, you could multiply the amount of money you have tenfold; but, at the same time, you could lose it all and be stuck on the streets. it's all a game of chance!
