Just finished another reading of "The Count of Monte Cristo", unabridged of course. I've lost "the count" smile.gif of the number of times I've read this book. A long and tough read considering the language style, but hugely rewarding! I think it would be one of those items I would want to have with me if I were stranded on a desert island.

Caution to anyone who would choose to buy this book in hardback: my copy as seen in the attached picture is the Modern Classics version. The binding is awful; although it is a big book, the binding has broken in at least two locations. It's poorly constructed.

Hmm, I must get some classics from the library.

I read the Count so many years ago, it will be like a new read.

Same here, I read it ages ago, along with The Three Musketeers. In the original form, tough reads indeed! There aren't too many books I've read so many times I've forgotten the number. The Hobbit and LOTR come to mind, though. First time was when I was around 14. Last time was less than 2 years ago. (I'm 48 now).

Oddly, just last week I was thinking I'd like to re-read The Three Musketeers again!
