Just a few guidelines:

1.  General: Please keep discussions friendly, and do not use abusive language, swearing or profanity.

2.  Avatars & Sigs: Registered users may load Avatars and signatures, and view each others'.

3.  Personal Website: If you have a personal website, and are a registered user, you may include the URL in your signature (no images please), provided that the site is family friendly. No links to sites that are primarily affiliates for other sellers of books, music, DVD's etc. The site linked to must not be similar to www.zimbooktu.com. Affiliates should not be similar to Amazon or Kalahari.net.

4.  Copyright of Content: All content of this board is subject to copyright, either of the host, the board owner, or the poster of the message. Please request permission to quote elsewhere. All permitted quoted text must contain the URL of the topic on this forum. No hotlinking to Zimbooktu board contents please!

As far as Author of the Month is concerned: General knowledge, e.g. date of birth, is obviously not subject to copyright. Other quotes and comments by authors, or exclusive content supplied to this board may NOT be copied during the month that the author is featured. Thereafter the general copyright arrangements apply.

Ensure that all posts comply with copyright requirements when posting images or texts found elsewhere. Always include the URL (Internet address) where you have found the item. If in doubt, rather state the URL of the text/image only.

5.  Language: Please use more or less ordinary English, no text-speak, wE aRe hOpeFuLly SaNe around here, so please none of those capitals in the middle of words*, and except for a bit of humour, no cowboy-speak either. Everyone makes spelling and grammar errors, so, please don't make a scene about others' errors.

*It's OK in your username.

6.  Spamming: Use of spamming will result in your account being deleted, and banned from this forum.

7.  Fanfiction: This is generally not encouraged - if you feel there is a good reason, PM Riana.

8.  Games: If you have a game that you feel can contribute to the board, PM Riana for permission. No games just to increase post count thanks.

9.  Use of Images: Please be considerate when loading Avatars or other images; management reserves the right to delete material considered as offensive in any way. Avatars, signatures, images, etc, should not distract from board content, e.g. excessive animation.

10. Affiliate links: No member may post affiliate links in their messages, unless pre-arranged. Admin reserves the right to edit any posted link to contain links to sites to which Zimbooktu is affiliated to. Please see Point no 3 as well.

11. Minimum Age: You MUST be 13 years or older to join this forum. If you are younger than 13 contact the Admin team, we will organise the forms to obtain your parents' permission. If a member younger than 13 is found to participate without consent, your account will be deleted (not just banned), plus your IP may also be banned. So rather tell us beforehand if you wish to participate. Stay quiet, and if found out, there will be no amnesty. Sorry, but this is US law, and is enforced by the Invision Free TOS.

12. Administrative Actions: Membership, privileges, warning and banning are at the discretion of the Admin team.

13. Valid period of membership: As from February 2009, new members need to post in a designated topic, in order to post on the rest of the board. This is done in order to reduce spammers. Any person who join as member, and do not post two posts in the designated topic within 30 days, will have their account deleted.
