we don't need to rush this let's just take this slow
What kind of job was this? Had she known that her on call Valentine's Day night would have resulted in a broken date and a camp out, she definitely would have considered another profession. Okay, sure, she loved running around chasing criminals and investigating murders and things of the sort... but this was Valentine's Day! The only day of the year that the rest of the planet celebrated love and all it's amazingness like Megara did every single day. How could any one person want to commit a crime on this day of love and adoration? This made a little part of Meg's heart sad for the world they were living in. Well, that was nothing that couldn't be filled with chocolate. Of course she would have chocolate even if she had to break her date with that nice man she met in the atrium at the Ministry. She never really got to know too much about him other than he worked on the accidental magic reversal floor, and well, he was just good-looking! How much more did a girl need to know before agreeing to a date on the fourteenth of February? But much to her dismay, she had to owl him two hours previous to ask for a raincheck and apologize profusely.
So here she was, in the alley way of some smashing diner with her partner, Kellan Abbott. Megara leaned against the brick wall and pulled out her quite large heart-shaped box of chocolate. Heaven knows only magic was able to conceal that enormous case, and she pulled off the top, throwing a glance over to Kell, "Care for some?" Without waiting for him to answer, she picked up a square chocolate and took a bite, the taste of wondrous chocolate and caramel meeting her tongue, "Oh, it's good." She announced without even waiting to swallow the candy. Meg smiled brightly, nothing was better than chocolate to this girl; especially since it was Valentine's day and she had to spend it working. At least she wasn't alone and on some solo mission; that would have sent the dear into tears. Well, maybe not that much, but she wouldn't be very pleased at all.
And how come they had to be in the alley? Couldn't they go inside and keep an eye on the perp? This was certainly not fair to Megara. She was a woman! Why didn't they get Rackley and Turner to cover this? They had been complaining about taking their wives out all month- they could have done this! They liked actionless times camping out and they'd probably bring some whiskey to make things more interesting. But to Megara, drinking on the job was just an awful thing to do! And on her most sacred day of the year too! "I don't think anything awful is going to happen tonight. What do you think, Kel? It's Valentine's; the day of love and who could do something awful on this day?"

so hold on tonight
IT'S GONNA BE A WILD WILD RIDE
Valentine's Day was a horrible day of the year. Everybody was sappy and everything was flowers and hearts. Not to mention there was all of the hand holding and sappiness. Kellan hated it just as much as he knew Megara loved it. Which, was the reason why he did feel a bit bad about the fact that she was stuck here with him. She should be off with some guy and having the time of her life on a date. And he, well he should be either getting drunk off his ass somewhere or find a woman to spend the night with. It was safe to say that Kellan wasn't one of those people who believed in true love and finding "the one." It was one of the things that he constantly bantered with Megara about. She, was one of those people that believed in the whole soulmate thing. And not to mention she seemed to think that eventually he would stumble upon a person and the two of them would just click. If something like that happened then he knew that he would have to eat his words and apologize to her for being in denial the whole time. But, he didn't think it would ever happen. Frankly he thought that everybody would eventually break up and it was only a matter of time before it happened. He knew that it was probably a horrible view on things but that was the way he saw it. Of course, he knew that his views were vastly skewed by his own childhood. After all his parents had supposedly been in love but once his father had found out that his mother was expecting he had split. How the fuck was that supposed to be love? Kellan was pulled out of those thoughts by the cold wind hitting his face. His eyes flicked around, not surprised by the fact that nothing was stirring. And whatever did move past wouldn't be able to see them since the alley was dark, almost pitch black. It was making him uneasy but he didn't want to make a fuss about it. He knew Megara would understand, she knew about him and the dark. She'd probably grab his free hand and stick close to him like she always did. Hell, she might even be wondering why he was sticking further away from her now. He appreciated her actions more than she probably knew. The next thing he knew she was pulling a case of chocolate from lord knows where. He rolled his eyes a bit at the obnoxious heart. The schmuck who bought her that clearly had the intention of getting laid. He was a bit surprised when she asked him if he wanted any. "I really don't know how you can eat at a time like this. But no, I'll let you have that all to yourself." It was the least he could do since this was ruining her evening.
Her question was quite an interesting one. He knew very well that things could go wrong on this day. Lover quarrels, misunderstood intentions and so on and so fourth. But he didn't want to talk about that when she seemed to upbeat. She was like a little sponge soaking up all of the love in the air. It was kind of cute in a way. It was part of the reason why he felt protective over her. That and he feared that her brother might try to hex him if he let something happen to her. Hell, her brother might try to hex him if he thought that the moves were being put on her by him. Kellan knew that Adonis knew about his reputation, the two had been in Hogwarts at the same time for a few years. And well, Kellan hadn't been one to keep making out with girls a private thing. "Well, you might consider what my plans were for the evening as bad things. I was either going to get drunk or try to pick up a girl." He stated and shrugged, inching a bit closer to her while he was talking. Kellan had a feeling that she would think that it was sacrilegious to have a one night fling on the day that was meant for love. Kellan reached up and ran a hand through his hair, trying to think up something that would keep her out of lecture land. He had heard the lecture about settling down and finding a nice girl too many times. "How is your brother anyway? The last time I saw him he tried to pawn his date off on me. But that was ages ago." Quite frankly, he would have been happy to take the date off his hands if he hadn't suspected that Megara had been the one to set up the whole thing. And he hadn't wanted to get any backlash from her. He continued inching toward her until he was about a foot away. Sure he was well within the personal space bubble but he hoped that she wouldn't mind too much. After all, she was the type who gave hugs a lot.
A group of clouds passed over the moon, effectively blocking what little light they had. Kellan let out a small gasp before moving closer to Megara, literally standing shoulder to shoulder with her. Instantly, he felt much safer. It was then when he began to calm down, he could feel his heart rate slowing down. "Fuck it," he mumbled before leaning in and giving her an awkward side hug. Kellan did feel bad that she was perhaps the only contact with the opposite sex that she was going to get for the rest of the evening. However, he did have an idea on how to make things up to her. Even though he wasn't too thrilled about the idea, he knew that it would make her night. "Tell you what Meggles, if you really want to once we're done here you can come home with me and pretend it's a date. I have plenty of alcohol and you'll get to wake my ass up in the morning and I know you enjoy doing that." Well, Kellan didn't know if she particularly enjoyed waking him up but she did do it a lot. She was one of the few people who could get him to wake up after he was passed out somewhere in his home.
