Has anyone played this great game? I LOVE the .hack// series from the bottom of my heart. I think I'm almost as obssessed with it as I am with Ragnarok Online or the Tales series.
I recently bought a Codebreaker and starting getting weapons only bosses use and starting using other characters (since you can only use the main character "Haseo").
Favorite character by far is Matsu. I recently taken a liking the the Steam Gunner class. Now if only he didn't crash the game after I use a skill. However, I can use Rengekis just fine =)

Though, isn't this like the first 4 .hack// games? Meaning... just as repetitive and eventually boring? The story kept me playing but I got so sick of the dungeons looking the same all the time!

Intro to .hack//Rebirth Volume 1
If you watch one of the last episodes of .hack//Roots the main character, Haseo, is hit by a blast of energy that transforms him into a demented idiotic looking thing. This transformation bumped up his level. He uses this new found power to go kill pkers and quickly gains the name "Haseo, the Terror of Death." Haseo now feels strong enough to kill the legendary Pker called "Tri-Edge." Tri-Edge PK'd Haseo's friend Shino in-game and sent her into a coma in real life. Shino hasn't waken up since then.
G.U. begins with Haseo recieving a message from a man named Ovan (another one of Haseo's "friends") that Tri-Edge will appear again at the site where Shino was PK'd. "Hidden Forbidden Holyground."
Haseo goes to the area and there is a giant cathedral (this area is a key place for the .hack// series). Haseo walks in and begins to reminisce about Shino. All of a sudden, there is a blueish ball in front of him and there is an explosion of blue/azure flames.
The person that appears is "Tri-Edge." Tri-Edge's appearence is pretty much a distorted version of Kite from the other 4 .hack// games. They begin to fight each other and Tri-Edge poons Haseo and deflects all his weapons and attacks.
Tri-Edge finishes off Haseo and raises his hand and blasts him with an attack called "Data Drain." Haseo's new armor from his transformation explodes and he goes back to his original appearence.
When Haseo logs back into the game, he notices his level is back to 1 and he lost all his equipment.
END OF VOLUME 1 INTRODUCTION
This pretty much sums up the beginning. I hope you play it. It's loads of fun!
@Lex: This game is repetative at all. I enjoyed playing this. They revamped the battle system. My friend didn't really like the first 4 .hack// games (which is why he gave me his infection game) but ended up loving G.U. vol1 when I let him borrow it. I HIGHLY reccomend this game!
