A 'North-easter?' No... nor-easter... was that what they were calling it? It was worse than the blizzard two years ago, apparently. It left devastation in it's wake, and ruined the school. Yes, much much worse than the blizzard. At least Aika could have stayed holed up in the school as opposed to adventuring around... But she had to focus. As much as she wanted to help, she couldn't help if her Pokémon wouldn't behave. This was an important step in her training. She had Pokémon of higher levels. Without focus and determination, her Pokémon would have seen her as weak.

She may have been a breeder, but that didn't mean she lost touch with her trainer side. That was why she was here. The outing Nia had taken her on only taught her that she couldn't just drag Pokémon out and let them fight. She had to be able to command them, or she would make an abysmal gym leader as well. And... there were other reasons for coming.

[Momma! Where are we goin'? Ooo... OOO!] Ube grinned wide as he caught sight of the big cave. Scary cave, big cave, rawr rawr rawr! He could have gone back to Pello and told him all about the scary, big cave they were in, and how he kicked the ass of some evil Pokémon! He liked that they had reunited with Pello and October. Even if some of October's Pokémon had... 'gone stolen' or whatever, Pello was still there. And one day... one day when Ube was big and strong and Pello was even bigger and strong-er-er, they would go beat the big bad guys that took away Toby, and there'd be happy friendship time and-

"Ube, don't stray too far." Momma's voice caused the Pokémon to stop and turn. He stared innocently at Aika, who seemed a little more concerned with her Pokedex. What had she said it had done to him? Taught him Thunderbolt. He didn't like the move... but he was slowly getting used to it. Very slowly. Now she was using it to teach other moves (he was fairly certain). She had brought two other Pokémon with her... which Pokémon? Ube was curious, but Aika never told him which Pokémon.

That made Ube kinda sad, but whatever. More Ube-Momma time! He missed his Momma, and now that he knew she wasn't going to throw him away for having such a horrible attack, everything was better again! And he felt himself getting bigger. Momma said it was time for 'evolution' soon. He sorely wanted to know what that was...

"Alright. Iku and Glaze are all set. We should be ready." Aika smiled down at Ube. He looked absolutely overjoyed with the idea of an adventure. "Ready to go?" The Ralts bobbed his head up and down, nearly falling over from excitement. "... I dunno Ube, you don't seem ready."

[MOMMA! I'M READY, I'M READY!] The squeaks that came forth from the tiny Pokémon seemed more like an excited puppy than anything else. However, Aika wasn't going to make him wait long. There was only so long a puppy would wait for his treat.

"Alright. Let's go..."

Deeper... deeper... deeper still. Into the cave they went. Ube happily squeaked along, singing an adorable song that Aika didn't know the tune to. At least he was happy, which was more than could be said for the Pokémon in her Pokeball. Iku, the former Magikarp-now-Gyarados was horrified at his new size and shape. There was nothing wrong, not from Aika's standpoint, but Iku didn't like the idea of being bigger, badder, and more powerful. He could hurt things that way, and he didn't want to hurt anyone. People meant things to him. Some people did. Aika meant a bit to him now too, especially after their run in that outing. Aika could sense that he was trying to be a more caring Pokémon, but it was hard. He was very large, and it was difficult.

He had spent a little time with the baby Rufflet, who seemed to warm up to the extremely large and scary beast. Iku was much more at peace helping and protecting than he was being a big, raging Gyarados. Aika could see that, now that he wasn't a fish gasping for breath. As big and scary as he was, it was adorable to truly see the Pokémon bond with her little baby Pokémon.

"I think this cave is big enough. How about we spread out and let Iku breathe a bit?" She probably should have gone out to the beach instead. A Gyarados like Iku would have gotten a lot of room out on the beach, but Aika's lack of ability to swim ...

It got in the way sometimes.

[I wanna see Iku!] Ube squeaked happily, bouncing up and down at the concept of having the large Gyarados come out of his Pokeball. [Let him out let him out!] Happy chirrups from the tiny Pokémon brought a smile to Aika's face. He hadn't been this happy since last Christmas, when she had received the dawn stone gifted specifically for his evolution. He was bigger and stronger now. Soon he would evolve into a Kirlia, and after that...

[Come on Momma!]

"Oh... right." Aika shuffled through her backpack, pulling out the red orb. The beast she called forth... should have roared. Gyarados did that, they roared when they came out of their Pokeballs. Iku, however, was not the roaring sort of beast. Instead, he blinked, allowing his eyes to adjust, and looked about. It was dark, save for the light that came from the tiny speck down there. What was that? Was that Aika? "Come on down Iku, Ube wants to talk." Why did she put these glasses on him? 'To power your attacks. I hear you have a mean bite now.' Yes, because he wanted to bite things. This was not what Iku had in mind when he evolved. Evolution meant more mobility, yes, but not... fighting all the time.

He curled around the duo, carefully eying the tiny Ralts. He looked much stronger than the other Ralts he had seen around, but then again, Ube was the only Ralts he had seen who had been trained this far up. Aika did tell Iku that he was sent to the daycare at around the same time she had sent him. Hmm. Maybe it was a time of growth for the small Pokémon. [Ube. I don't believe we've had the pleasure to me-]

[HIYA!] A tiny Ralts foot slammed into the serpent's side harmlessly. What was the child doing? Kicking him? What movies had he watched that had gotten this started? Iku knew it had to be movies, seeing as that was what Aika liked putting the child in front of. It must have been some form of action 'flick' that he wasn't aware of yet. Alright, he could play along. The serpent watched as Ube tried to kick him a couple of times. How adorable, the cute little Ralts was training... or something. [Oo! Ima HEADBUTT TOO!]

"Ube... Ube, what are you doing?" Aika laughed, watching as her tiny Pokémon slammed his head into the side of the Gyarados. "Are you trying to learn a move?" Ube blinked, staring up at Aika, eyes-wide. "... Yeah, you can learn moves all on your own. Didn't think you could, did you?" Aika crouched down near the Pokémon. "What you just did there? That's a Headbutt. The Pokémon you evolve into can use that move pretty well. Wanna get a head's start?" Ube's eyes lit up at the thought. Learn a new move? Ooo! Then he could show Pello how awesome his new move was! And when he evolved, it was gonna be just like Optomical Prime! Yeah! He nodded vigorously. Of course he wanted to learn!

"Alright... now all you have to do is do just what you did, but focus all that power in your head. Like you're gonna hit something... just like in all those movies you're watching." Ube let out a squeak, nodding, and focusing hard on the large hide of the Gyarados. Iku watched on, amused by the sight. He watched as the small Ralts slammed his head into his side once more. Learning, everyone needed to do it. Even the gigantic fish Pokémon. And Aika's laughter warmed his heart. "Try again. I don't think Iku minds, do you?" The fish shook his head. Of course not. Why would he mind this? It could teach him a thing or two as well. "Alright then. Give it another shot Ube!"

The tiny Ralts tried a few more times, managing only to cause himself to stumble over at the last try. Aika giggled. Iku found himself smiling. Oh, how cute. "Iku, I think you can learn this move too. Wanna try?"

The Gyarados blinked. He could do this too? Well, he had a head, and he was watching Ube perform the move... Maybe he could. Nodding, the Pokémon turned towards the nearest wall. Right... focus on that spot there. Take head and... bash it against the wall!

The cave seemed to shake with the force Iku put into his attempt at headbutt. Ube squealed, clinging to Aika, eyes wide. [W-w-woooooooooaaaaah.] He stared up at the large Pokémon, pride for such a larger creature in his eyes. Ube opened his mouth to say something else, but a few shiny objects fell in his line of sight, plopping to the ground in front of him. [OOOOOO. Momma look!]

[IMA WIN THIS!]

[HEHEHEHEHE!]

They raced through caverns, the two wild Pokémon. Zubat was clearly the faster of the two. He zipped about the cave, flying back and forth between the larger steel type and some undetermined spot a few feet ahead. Then, as Bronzor would catch up with the creature, the flying type would zoom off again. It was all in good fun, for Bronzor at least. Zubat? He wanted to win, and he'd do just about every dirty thing to win it! That was why he was whizzing about this extra-large, blue mass. He zipped upward when he found himself staring at a large face. [EEK!]

[W-w-wait up!] Bronzor rounded the corner of the strange, blue beast, slamming into the human form that was on the other side. [O-oh!] She eyesmiled at the large Gyarados. He seemed a bit grumpy, but that didn't necessarily make him an unreasonable beast, did it?

"Ow! Oh... crap I think that's a nosebleed."

[Momma!] Ube's squeak caused alarm in the Gyarados. Iku was not pleased with the situation. There were two wild Pokémon in the area, one who had hurt Aika and was now threatening to hurt Ube. Neither of the duo had deserved this. He had to protect them, no matter what. That was his job, as a much larger and most probably stronger (despite his protests at the idea) Pokémon. He wrapped a coil around Aika, lifting and placing her neatly on a rock above. Ube was still clinging for dear life on her shoulder.

[I want you out of harm's way.] His voice was stoic and firm, despite coming from the mouth of a Gyarados. [I don't want you getting wet and catching a cold.] The fatherly serpent Pokémon turned onto the steel discus. [Now face punishment, young creature!] He rose his head high, breathing inward and focusing. He could feel the water accumulating around his form. as he did. The power of the oceanic surf would help him defeat this foe. It had to. He was useless on his own. If he could find that stupid Zubat, he would have washed that Pokémon away as well, to maintain the safety of his trainer. Aika was nice enough that she deserved the protection of a lowly Gyarados. She probably deserved more, but he could give what he had to offer...

[Oh noooo!] The discus Pokémon found herself caught in the waves developing around her. She was unsure of what was going on, but she had to calm down the big Pokémon! If she could do that, then she could explain the situation and make sure everything was alright!

As the surf subsided, the Pokémon turned toward the Gyarados. [Time for sleep!] She eyesmiled, unleashing a wave of hypnotic energy towards the beast. Iku blinked, swerving out of the way of the slow-moving beam. Was that supposed to do something to him? It looked like it, but he couldn't tell for the life of him what it was. Whatever it was, it missed him, and that was what counted the most. He whirled on the creature, eyes filled with some strange rage that he had never once felt before. Stupid creatures.

Soon, his teeth found themselves wrapped around a steel discus. Was he applying pressure now? It felt like he was. This Pokémon didn't seem to like that... [Sorry!] Mouthful of Bronzor later, and the serpent had spit the steel type out. The discus whirled around, eye twitching into a frown. From it's... eyes... or somewhere, the creature let out an ear-piercing screech. It reverberated throughout the serpent's form, causing the Pokémon to reel backwards in surprise. That was not what he expected! A mean glare returned to his expression. The waters surrounded both Pokémon once more.

[OWIE!] Bronzor was sent flying into the nearest face wall, and turned to glare at the Pokémon once more. [YOU'RE NOT VERY NICE!] Another shriek, throwing the Gyarados into a frenzy. He whipped around once more, sinking his teeth into the small Pokémon.

She let out a shrill shriek, but when Iku released her, she clattered to the ground, fainted. The Gyarados stared down sadly at the Pokémon. [Oops. Sorry.]

[That Zubat looks really focused.] Ube stared up at the creature flapping around spastically. She, like Ube and Aika, was well out of the range for any sort of high powered surf coming her way. As she flapped about, she could see the small, white creature tracing her ... flight patterns? Was that what this creature was doing? He looked so cute and so easy to mess with!

Oh, and was she ever good at messing with other Pokémon. A smile lit across her features as she swooped down on the tracing psychic type. Her mouth opened wide, and she let out a supersonic wail from the depths of her throat. It was thrown at the small creature, in an attempt to confuse his target. The strange beam flew over Ube's head.

"That was a Supersonic Ube!" Momma's voice echoed over the raging battle behind them. She was going to give him orders! He could do this! Listen to Momma and get bigger and stronger! He knew what he was doing! "Hit the Zubat with a Confusion Ube!" The tiny psychic type did as he was told, immediately shooting out a wave of psychic energy at the bat. The small bat zoomed about spastically. So much for her focus! This was not what she had in mind at all!

[Gimmie a headache! Fine!] She screeched. Her attempts at shaking this pounding headache were now futile. Ugh! Stupid babies! She was done with this being fun! Swooping down once more, she slammed into the child Pokémon. A grin appeared on her features as she heard a shrill, pained cry come out of the child's form. This was fun! This was exactly what she wanted!

"Ube, don't let her get away with that. Throw another confusion at her!" That was all the tiny bat heard before a slice of pain shot through her head once more, and all she saw was black.

Aika watched the Pokémon plummet to the ground. "... Poor thing..." Of course she had to hit a string of sympathy for the creature. Ube was clinging to her form, hurt and nearly broken himself, but that Zubat...

She pulled out a Pokeball, throwing it at the creature before it crashed to the ground. "We'll find her a good home."

[Tired...] Aika could feel the fatigue wearing on Ube. The Pokémon slouched against her embrace, letting out a yawn. [I wanna sleep...] He smiled as he watched the yellow and black ball come out of Aika's pocket, allowing him a swift retreat to comfort and relaxation. A last path of gratitude made it's way to Aika's thoughts, and the girl smiled. Her eyes soon wandered over toward the Gyarados. He looked much less fatigued. Annoyed was a word Aika would have used to describe the look on his features.

For a Gyarados, Iku had a much more passive nature about him. Yes, Gyarados seemed grumpy all the time, but Iku's gentle nature shone through the look. Aika could tell he was just a more subdued Pokémon simply by the way he held himself. His frown was... less grumpy, and his eyes displayed a softness that no other Gyarados could. She smiled softly as the large beast set her down on the ground again, a hand on his side. "You're a good Pokémon Iku..."

And with that, he was back in his own Pokeball. She could hear a contented growl come from the depths of the Pokémon's form, and it brought a smile to her features. "Right, now that that's settled-"

[RAAAAAAWR! HIYAAAAAAH!] Another Pokémon. Aika could hear it... wait, there were two. Great. Just what Aika needed, more Pokémon to fight. She pulled a Pokeball out from her pocket. From the depths, the fat, blue beast rolled on the ground, coming to a halt in front of two rather... odd looking Pokémon. Aika blinked. Was that Hitmonlee... trying to ride that Electrike? Yes, yes he was. And he was failing. Poor pup, who looked a mite angry at the idea. [Giddyup puppy!]

"Glaze! Glaze, heads up!" The land shark opened an eye sleepily, staring at her two foes. She popped her other eye open, grunting. This was a battle, the shark could tell. Two against one? How fair was that? Aika must have thought she could take them on. "If you hit them with a Dragon Rage, it'll be over quick and you can go back to sleep!" Yes... Yes, Glaze could do that. Did she want to? No. Only because Aika told her to.

The Pokémon watched as the taller, tan Pokémon stared, focusing some form of energy on the battle. Whatever that creature was doing, he didn't know half of what was going on. He seemed more constipated than anything else. The dragon type let out a small grunt, rolling her eyes once more. Slowly, she lifted up a claw. [This is boring.] As she did, sands whipped up around the Hitmonlee, ensnaring him in a tomb of pure sand. It seemed to throw the Pokémon off kilter. Glaze closed an eye again.

"Oh come on. If you use Dragon Rage... Nevermind." Aika threw her hands up into the air, watching as the Electrike threw a wave of electrical energy at the shiny lump on the ground. "... Well then..." At least it was ineffective against the Pokémon. Maybe this wouldn't be as bad as she thought it would be. She kept her guard up, however, as she watched the Hitmonlee dive forward, leg whipping out and slapping Glaze's snout. She winced as she watched it happen twice. She watched the dragon growl, eyes opening again. It was still lazy, Aika could tell... was there nothing that could get this Pokémon to move more than three inches?

Paw raised, and another sand tomb enveloped the other Pokémon. A puppy howl echoed throughout the caverns, and a piercing gaze struck deep into Glaze's form. The dragon didn't seem phased, merely watching as both opponents writhed in complete agony in the ensnaring tombs of sand. Aika smiled. This was going over well, despite the pain Glaze probably felt. She knew the Pokémon had a decent tolerance level, which went over well...

Her eyes wandered back to the duo of strange Pokémon. The Hitmonlee, who seemed taken aback with the whole scene, dove downward as Glaze reared her head toward the small electric type. Blue flames shot from the Pokémon's mouth, slamming into the fighting type's form. Aika almost let out a happy noise as it fell. This was good, this was a working strategy. Hit everything with Dragon Rage and it'll go away...

She just wanted out of here.

The green electric type growled, releasing a burst of flame from her own jaws. Aika watched it slam into her large Pokémon. Wait... was Glaze twitching? She heard a growl come from the Pokémon's throat as she stood, sumo-like, eyes on the Electrike. [Get out of my face.] A snap, anger, and an action. Glaze tackled into the small Pokémon. The Electrike bounced off, form falling limp somewhere deep into the caverns.

Aika couldn't help but smile at this. "... Good job girl. Let's go home... I sense a great deal of food for you later."
