Forever Feels Like Home, For Snowstreak and anyone else

[Redtail]

The light was dim and cast nothing but shadows on the forest floor, making the day seem ever so dull and depressing. Redtail was walking swiftly through the trees with great quietness and agility. He had been out of the camp since before the sun came up over the moutains. His heart feeling restless and unsettled but, why, he did not know. The prey was even racing about under his paws in the newly fallen snow but he paid no attention to them. He just wanted to go to the Sunningrocks and relax if even for the shortest time. He sighed softly and looked up to the sky. "Why, Starclan, do I feel so alone when I have everything I need," he asked silently.

A white she-cat made her way through the undergrowth, her paws crunching on the thin layer of ice that had fromed over the new snow. Bright blue eyes gazed ahead to a dark ginger figure ahead. His scent filled Snowstreak's nose, giving her a sense of comfort. She parted the brambles with a gentle paw and padded up beside him. Her tail lay flat in the snow, the cold seeping through her fur.

A soft, sweet scent hit the roof of Redtail's mouth and he craned his head to see Snowstreak. A small smile flashed across his face at the sight of her warm eyes and her beautiful smile. "Hello... I was merely contemplating(sp?)," he meowed with depression filling his voice and weighing his heart to the forest floor. He pulled his tail around her shoulders and licked the top of her head affectionatly, a small purr rising in his throat. "How about we go to Sunningrocks. I know it won't be warm but it will be nicer than here," he purred.

"Alright. Wherever is fine." Snowstreak mewed softly her blue eyes sparkling. She started out at a trot, her tail swinging back and forth. She leapt up onto the rocks when she was only a tail-length away. The white she-cat cleared out an area of snow for the two of them to sit.

Redtail smiled and followed after her at a steady trot. He kept himself behind her though he wanted to walk to her side, he was just too tired and upset to think about what he wanted at the time. When he reached the rocks he saw she was clearing off a patch of snow for them to sit and he purred his thanks and leaped up next to her. His eyes were sparkling with warmth and love for her as he pressed his head to her cheek and licked her ear, warmly, lovingly.

"What's on your mind?" Snowstreak purred, her tail wrapped around her paws. She pushed her nose into his shoulder, purring calmly.

Redtail's mind flowed with cynical thoughts, but his heart sat with her and brought the purr to his throat. Of course, with his actions and past, he was a cat with uncertainty - so much, in fact, that it was surely coming through his ears. But he had her... and that was more than he could ever ask for, but he was worried for her. "I want you to have a good life, Snowstreak; I don't want you to have to deal with me. I love you.... more than anything or anyone on this Earth," he said, burying his head in her neck.

Snowstreak brushed her muzzle against his. "I know that. And I love you with everything I have." She whispered, drawing in his scent as it weaved its way around her. The white she-cat pressed her cheek against his neck. "But it is because I love you that I would not ever leave you. No matter what." She mewed softly. Despair slowly crept into her mind and made its way to her heart. I don't know what I would do without you, she thought, her heart beating faster with every passing second. "I don't think I could bear to lose you." She mewed softly, almost so that only she could hear it.
