Some days flew by while others seemed to drag on endlessly. Today was definitely one of the latter for Felicity. She wasn’t even supposed to be working today, but her boss had called her frantically this morning because not one but two employees had called in sick and she was the last resort apparently. Felicity had grudgingly pulled herself out of bed, showered, through on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and then made her way to the small, hidden treasure of a cafe that she worked at. As much as she hated pulling herself out of bed on the one day she had decided she could sleep in, she really didn’t mind working. It was money in her pocket and something to do. Plus, the people she worked with and the majority of the people she got to meet were pretty decent. The only problem with today was that it was far quieter than she had been anticipating and she felt like time was going in reverse. Well, either that or it was just not moving at all. She swore every time she looked at the clock it was no different than when she had last looked. Maybe the clock was broken. Yeah, she was going to go with that. That thought made her feel a little better. It gave her hope that her shift would be over soon and she’d be able to go home and do... well... something. Felicity leaned forward and rested her elbows on the counter as she glanced down at the book she had been reading. The cafe wasn’t as lively as, say, a place like Starbucks, but she liked it that way most of the time. It had really given her a chance to know the regulars and her coworkers. The only time it sucked was when she was the only one working and the more entertaining regulars weren’t around. Typically there was always at least two people working, but today it was like no one was available until the late afternoon which felt like it was a hundred hours away to her. Her boss, who she was working with until this afternoon, was currently on his lunch break which meant she was here alone for probably another half hour. She really wished that there were more people coming and going right now, it would give her someone to talk to at least. The few people that were currently in the cafe were either deep in conversation or off in their own little worlds. The chances of having a conversation with any of them was probably slim to none right now. Sighing, Felicity pushed herself away from the counter to do a quick sweep of the cafe, hoping that it would kill a bit of time. She collected the garbage and dishes of those who were done with them and wiped down a few tables. Next on her mental list were the lids, straws and napkin supply by the counter which seemed to be more than fine. Felicity moved back around the counter and went over all of her supplies. Nothing needed to really be restocked yet, which meant her attempts at killing time were not going so well. Felicity took up her spot behind the counter again, and turned her attention to her book. Two months ago when she had started working here she had thought that there would always be things to keep her busy. But, it didn’t take her long to realize that it never hurt to have a book in her bag just in case things got slow like today. As unproductive as it made her feel, all she could think about was how it saved her from dying of boredom. While flipping the page of her book, Felicity glanced around the cafe and then at the door before dropping her gaze. She mentally told herself it would start picking up eventually. i feel so close to you right now"Do you have work tonight?" The question came from Hilton's roommate and best friend as he sat on the floor, leaning against the coach and playing video games. It's sunday, dude." Rapidly hitting a button on the controller and not paying much attention at all, he tried to respond. "Um......shit!" Judging by the sound that the television made, he lost whatever attempt he had just tried. Setting down the controller, he turned back to speak to Hilton. "Right, it's sunday. No work. Where ya headed then?" Hilton shifted his weight, heading more for the door. "I don't know, figured I'd grab a coffee and take some point and shoot shots downtown. Wanna come?" Hilton didn't really want his roommate to come. Sure, they were good friends and on good terms, but he just wanted a nice afternoon by himself. His roommate knew that though, so it was no surprise that his answer was "Nah, I got some prostitutes to hit and some cars to steal." Hilton only rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Grand theft auto one or two today?" He asked. "Oh, one all day. Don't fuck with the originals, dude." His roommate responded. "Have fun." Hilton said back, and with the light slam of the heavy apartment door, he was on his way.Passing many people on the street, Hilton couldn't help but capture random pictures of buildings and street vendors. Coming up to the nearest coffee shop, he let go of his camera and let it just hang from his neck as we went inside. Instantly the strong aroma of coffee filled his nostrils and began to wake him up. Going up to the counter, he saw the face of the drunk girl from the night before. He'd seen her out a few times, always drunkenly telling him how cute he is and how he needs to take her picture. He honestly wondered if she'd remember him, or if she was always just too intoxicated. "Hey, um.." Hilton looked up at the menu for all the coffees and found a flavor he liked. "Can I get the blueberry cobber, black please?" He asked as he pulled out his wallet.THANK YOU, BLYTHE!

The bell above the cafe door pulled Felicity's attention away from her book. As the newest customer made his way towards her, Felicity grabbed a nearby napkin to use as a bookmark. As she turned her attention to the customer she froze. That face and voice were so freaking familiar, and she didn’t know why. He wasn’t a regular here. She would know if he was. “What size do you want? And, is it to stay or to go?” Felicity questioned as she mentally won’t over the people she had come across recently. As her mind did a mad scramble to match names and faces, she bit the inside of her lip. Why, oh why, did this guy look so damn familiar? “Aww, fuck.” she muttered a little louder than she had intended to once her brain put the puzzle pieces together. Where did she notice him from? Her party nights. Felicity might only be eighteen, but it didn’t mean she didn’t drink. It also didn’t mean she didn’t know how to get into the clubs and get herself free drinks. She could be damn sneaky when she wanted to be. She could also be very persuasive. It was amazing what a low cut shirt and a smile could do. Plus, it helped knowing the right people. Of course that said, Felicity didn’t actually go out and party all that much. She was trying to stay out of trouble for her brother’s sake and between work and school free time wasn’t always there. The nights she did go out though, Felicity partied hard and usually walked away knowing she had embarrassed herself. But, in her opinion that was just life and it was nice to let loose every once in awhile. She considered it good for her health because it got rid of all that built up stress from school. Though, she knew to those who ran into her while she was out drinking she probably looked like a train wreck. She didn’t blame them for judging her. “Your name’s...” Felicity paused as she tried to remember it. “Okay, I can’t remember, but I do know that I recognize you.” Now that she knew where she had seen him before, Felicity had little snapshots filtering their way through her head. Embarrassing snapshots of nights that she preferred not to really think about all that much. “Look, last time we ran into each other I was probably a drunken idiot. I will gladly admit that alcohol and I have a very love hate relationship.” Felicity wasn’t even sure she was thinking of the right guy or if the guy in front of her recognized her, but she needed to apologize for her drunken self. Whenever she ran into people she’d met during a night out she found herself needing to apologize to them. “So... I’m just gonna apologize now for whatever I might have said or done to you. And, if you’re not who I think you are, I’m just going to apologize for my small little ramble wasting your time.” Sometimes she didn’t know why she even bothered opening her mouth. It could be a little embarrassing how her filter didn’t always work.NOTES : i suck. sorry. WORDS : 520 TAG : hilton mickey @ atf
