the silence is slowly killing meCady may have been distracted from whining about the cold as she had been minutes before but as she knelt on the chilly, damp pavement of the sidewalk she was still shivering. She had been shivering for the better part of an hour as her and Hilton had wandered the streets of Mott Haven. It had rained for the better part of the day but now the sun was just breaking through the clouds as sunset neared. ”Oh my gosh, this light is amazing Hilton.” Cady gushed as she stood up, having captured the image she was after on the wet sidewalk. ”Its making up for the twenty miles of walking we’ve done!” Twenty was quite exaggerated but in the cold and rain it hadn’t been an easy trek.It didn’t take much to make Cady giddy and the glowing orange buildings covered with graffiti had put a new bounce in her stride after some less than enthralling pictures of the rain. They could have cancelled but it wasn’t often their schedules lined up so that they both had free time and she was too chicken to go by herself. Most of her friends were too chicken to go with her and thought it was silly she went. If Hilton thought it was silly he hadn’t let on and she hoped that as a photographer he shared at least some of her enthusiasm despite their somewhat damp clothes.Photography had been her passion since she was a child with her first point and shoot fifteen dollar film camera. The cameras had gotten a little more expensive along the way but her excitement over a perfect shot hadn’t. Her subject matter had changed as well. When she was younger it had been pretty pictures of flowers and kittens but as she aged she found appreciation for things most people didn’t look at as beautiful. Like the ghettos of the Bronx.Having caught the reflection of a graffiti painted wall in the buddle she turned to him with a bright smile. Raising her camera she playfully snapped a shot of his face without giving him much time to react. ”Thank you for coming with me. Even though it’s raining and cold-“ a car backfired a few blocks down and the blonde pivoted on her sneaker. ”-and someone may have just gotten shot…” she half joked as she headed towards an ally way off the main street. Shadowy allies in bad neighborhoods weren’t a good decision but they made for grand photo ops. THANK YOU, BLYTHE!

i feel so close to you right nowThe Bronx definitely wasn't the nicest part of 'New York City.' In fact some would call it the worst. Every area has its parts though. There are some terrible Manhattan areas as well as Brooklyn and Queens and every other little area this city had to offer. The Bronx was more known as the ghetto though, and even though Hilton lived there, walking around in some of the sketchier parts still made him a little nervous. Though he wasn't alone, Cady wasn't really one to bring for back up if anything were to happen. Hilton wasn't too worried though, especially now with the sun shining. "Try not to take too many pictures of the graffiti. For all you know, they're gang signs. Heaven forbid you take an amazing shot with a gang sign in it, then it gets put in a gallery, then that gallery gets shot down, or something....I mean, you never know." Hilton laughed a little bit at how ridiculous that situation sounded. At the same time though, it really could happen.Thank you for coming with me. Even though it's raining, and cold....and someone may have just gotten shot." The back firing of the car made Hilton laugh. "I hear that all the time. I live just a couple blocks away, remember?" Hilton joked. Hilton lived in one of the nicer areas. His roommate's family was pretty wealthy, and so were Hilton's family. Though Hilton paid for majority of things himself, his parents offered to contribute for the first two years, since he had gotten a full academic ride to Purchase. Considering most parents have to pay out the ass for expensive colleges, Hilton saw it as semi fair, and takes the money to help with living expenses. Due to that money, Hilton and his roommate live on one of the top floors of a decent loft apartment in The Bronx. Backfiring of cars, actual gun shots, babies crying, couples fighting - he'd heard it all. After a six months in his apartment, it was like white noise to him now. "Go stand over by that fire escape for a minute, I have a sick shot in my head." Changing the apature on his camera and zooming out so his fisheye lens was being used, Hilton snapped a photo of Cady that captured both the raindrops still trying to dry, and the sunlight, and her golden hair. "Let me take a couple more. Look over to the right, please." He asked as he zoomed in more, getting rid of the fisheye, and cropping the photo in a unique way. "Yeah, I can't wait to edit these now." He said partially to himself as he looked at the images on his camera for a small preview. "Speaking of which, wanna head back soon and see what we've got? The next time we hear the noise, we might not be so lucky with it being just a car backfiring." He half joked. Though, it was probably true.WORD COUNT = 500. OUTFIT = this. NOTES = yay for not getting shot.THANK YOU, BLYTHE!
