Sometimes I think in a situation like this it may be best to retire the show.

HOLLYWOOD -- After giving out prizes on "The Price is Right" for 35 years, Bob Barker will be getting a prize of his own next year. He is going to retire.

In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Barker said his last show will be June 7, 2007.

Barker jokes that he wants to step down while he's "still young." He turns 83 on Dec. 12.

Barker admited he will miss the show and is "frightened by the thought of getting up in the morning and there will be no more shows."

He said a search for a new host has been going on for two or three years.

By the time he retires, Barker will have been on the tube for half a century, and he said he's "enjoyed every moment."

HOW TO STOP PEOPLE FROM BUGGING YOU ABOUT GETTING MARRIED
Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals
