Well I started by bending absolutely everything from the legs to the wings even cutting the legs free from the stinger parts.

I then having ran out of spray set about the many many coats of undercoat to get a smooth finish I used about 7 thin layers of skull white.

After that I spent about three days trying to think up a colour for the Vespid I settled on a dark armour and light skin/carapace so I painted on Bleached Bone and Shadow Gray as a base to start from.

you may have to tilt your head a bit.

After this I had a much better idea of the way I wanted it to look and set about washing the skin with Gryponne Sepia and the armour with Badab Black.

Ops this one was also taken in the dark.

The first set of highlights and detail was added next. I used Red gore for a base of the eyes and gun crystal.

I then stopped to make a cake. It's lovely.

I added a little more highlight with Bleached Bone and Shadow Gray with a touch of Blood Red for the eyes and Crystal.

I then used a harsher highlight with Skull White and a 50/50 mix of Shadow Gray and Skull White and finished up the detail and added some Fiery Orange and Skull White to the eyes and Crystal.

Thank you very much Fire Harte.

There was also one more layer of highlight after the one mentioned it was a 75/25 mix of Skull White and Shadow Grey on parts of the armour but I'd forgot to take a photo of it before I did the next step then forgot to put it in the log hehe.

That looks really good Shas, I'm impressed. I thought you said you weren't any good at painting you fibber tongue.gif .

I have not used any of Games Workshop's wash ranges yet, they look like they do a good job of shading the model. You applied them quite well and the model looks very smooth. Good on ya bro. I hope you upload more images as you paint the rest of the squad.

Thank you Mr Harvey, I used an over-brushing/dry-brushing technique to apply the paint to keep it smooth.

I do think I could do better but I lack the ability to take my time over things I just can't seem to slow down my pace enough to pick out all the detail or to use huge amount of highlight layers once I get started I just want to see it finished. I used this model as it was 100% spare (I used two boxed sets to get a full 11 man squad for my army and this was the extra strainleader) I LOVE this paint scheme and I've had lots of people say I should repaint my whole army to match this one model.... But that's never going to happen. I've also decided to trust my abilities to repose miniatures as this one looks fantastic and all it took a was a nip here and twist there.

lol...

The "+rep" thing is a reference to Heresy-Online. they have a reputation system there where other members can give you reputation points for your posts. Cato is an old H-O hand like a lot of us. biggrin.gif

The action pose on that model is good. I wouldn't have even attempted to pose a metal model, so, props man.

the model though is exceleent, the highlights are just so smooth and the contrasts in the colour are so cool.
