Says in the first post that they're motorCross bars ... certainly look like off-road bars to me just without the cross brace.

Cheers for the words everybody. =]
It did get taken for a maiden voyage a while back - my Bike man / MOT'er and currently my office for my new job (more on that later) is about 20 miles from home.
Only thing is that initial 40 mile journey the bike was only on one cylinder and pure hell to ride! Now the timings sorted it should be lurrrvvly!
Pipes are homemade from what we had left over - my fave bit is that they stay inside the front frame rails. i have seen some shotgun pipes, but they curve round the front and look untidy, so that was quite an afternoons achievement.
handlebars are wide fat bars - not renthals, but pretty much the same - can;t remember what they are now! Reason for buying them was due to the clamps - they're really nice angled off at the side chunky ones.
Originally the front end was got together for this -

Was going to get the USD front, monoshocked in the back and undented and nice paint. Sold it cheap thouugh as the valves sunk and ended up buying a 7R that I played about with instead.
I love this XS and it seems to get good reactions where ever I put pics, but my only doubt is the size of it. i'm pretty big tall and a little bit chunky at the mo and this is ever so compact, so i feel like an absoloute moron riding it! But it does feel like you are sat in an arm chair - no stretch on the forwards at all
Cheers! =]

HA! :brr:
Gonna be riding in casuals for a bit as all my bike gear isn't right for this kinda bike.
My boots are a set of Oxtar race boots that go right up my leg. Jacket is an orrible textile thing that is massive and me bottoms are race leather types lol.
Haven't forgotten about counting the links, just didn't get the chance to pull off the engine cover as the chain goes inside it.
HAven't forgotten about the axles too CP - will measure them on sunday when I get round to playing again.

oops was that on way to get it ticketed??
Archie837 - April 7, 2012 07:22 AM (GMT)
Nah got trailered for that.
I was thinking it mustve been amusing to watch from your house. 1 minute flying down the road whooping and hollering and ten minutes later pushing it back the other way with my head down haha!
Think it needs a trip to Dynotech. It had a set of pod filters and some straight through pipes so jetting is gonna be way out. It road really hesitant and then the power kicked in coughing and spluttering.
Also possibly the wrong carbs for that year engine as they were a bugger to get on.
Not a very happy motorsickle all in.

Sounds like the timing if it blew the carbs ofg mate, there
particually fickle to the timing being out

I think it is out as a friend set it by ear.
I'll trailer it to Dynotech if I get paid enough at the end of the month as they will be able to sort everything and rolling road it too which will be interesting to know!

Hopped up the road today to a classic concours bike show to see what would happen.
After spending ages trying to make a bracket to hold the carbs on I through a minor fit and just welded the top plate to the frame spine. Will adress that one later.
Still running a bit rough - had to slip the clutch on a couple of roundabouts as it felt like it was cutting out and it wouldnt sit idling for very long either but all in all pretty fun to ride!

I tucked it up out the way in the corner and instantly got barraged by a load of people asking questions about it. I'm not one for standing by stuff and talking to people all day long, but I kept glancing over (mainly to see if it had thrown itself off the sidestand) and it always had people round it. One young lad was having his photo taken with it and then the rest of his family too.
A lot of the old boys blanked it completely but I know it's not their cup of tea.
So- shakedown 2 was a success. Need to sort out the carb bracket, tension the chain and get a nut for one of the engine mounts - I rode up today missing one lol - and its pretty much there!
