The Beginning of an Odyssey

Damien Wolf was walking on the path to Vivial's Lab. As he walked he began to think about what kind of Pokemon trainer he would like to be, 'Well, I either want to be a Trainer or a Ranger. Now, from the brochure that I read, the Pokemon that I would like from the Trainer's selection would be Ponyta. From the Ranger's selection, however, it has two of my favorites, Houndour and Larvitar. As a Trainer I would just travel around and obtain Badges from Gyms. As a Ranger, however, I could become so much more.' Stopping in his tracks as he approached the Lab, Damien had finally decided what he wanted to do. "I am going to become a Ranger, and my Pokemon partner is going to be Larvitar." said Damien with zeal in his voice. Damien walked into the lab and said, "Hello anybody home? I am Damien Wolf, and I have come for my first Pokemon."

Damien's call was first answered with silence before a loud moan rose and fell throughout the lab. From the back room stumbled a young lady, the operate word being stumbled. She leaned against the door frame to try and keep some kind of balance while rubbing at her temples feverishly. Eyeshadow was streaked and rubbed around her eyes and it seemed the rest of her makeup with is a state of disarray. Her bright blue eyes seemed dimmed by the apparent hangover she was experiencing. Her long blond hair was half tied up in a messy bun while the rest spilled over her shoulder. The whole scene looked rather disheveled, but the lady paid it no mind. She simply teetered over to a desk and landed, rather hard, in a chair. She felt her body go limp as she lay back, loving the few moments of peaceful silence. She would've loved to have had them for longer, but she turned the chair to face the desk and pulled herself up.

On the desk was a small bottle. ' Rapid Relief! ' it promised in cutesy letters on a bright pink background. Personally, she'd sooner take a cyanide pill, but the professor swore by the stuff. Closing her eyes tightly, the female uncapped the bottle, brought it to her lips, and tilted her head back. Disgusting medicinal liquid flooded her mouth and traveled down her throat until she could bear no more and pulled it away, panting. Chills pricked her all over. Man that stuff was nasty. Setting it back down, she turned in her chair to face Damien.

"Job. Pokemon. Make it quick please?" She half-begged. She wanted to go back to the dark, cool, peaceful back room and sleep of this monster hangover. She just wanted some relief. But no. The dear old professor himself had given her lab duty, after he knew she'd been out drinking. The thought brought on another headache, and this one was accompanied by a wave of nausea and dizziness that made tidal waves seem trivial.

It was going to be a very long day...

Damien watched the lady walk out of the back room with mild amusement. 'I guess that she is the professor. Man, does she have it bad. And I thought that I wasn't a morning person. Eww... that stuff looks nasty,' thought Damien as the lady took her medicine. After she asked him the question, Damien answered, "Uh... yeah sure. I'll be out of your hair in a sec. I want to become a Ranger and I'll take a Larvitar, please."
