As we all know, there are a huge number of different belief systems in the world. Right off the top of my head I can think of:
Christianity Islam Judaism Sikhism Buddhism Hinduism And those are just the main ones. There are many others - and even in those religions, there are different subdivisions - such as Roman Catholics, Baptists, Protestants, etc making up Christianity. So, therefore - what do you think of the argument that 'all beliefs lead to heaven' - it's just God showing himself in different ways - or perhaps you think that it doesn't matter what you believe as long as you truly believe it. Discuss here. -------------------- Democracy should serve Freedom

As shown below a good number of these have only one god. Most have the same ideas, conpects, etc. I dont really think good has a 'fav' religion, because each one is doing almost the same things as the others!
It could mean that each religion shows a differnt 'side' of god. -------------------- "One drop of water can start a chain of events even I can not start..." Farseer Ariel

Interesting. However, if it's claimed that each religion is God showing himself in different ways - if God, Allah, Brahman and all other gods from all other religions are the one and same entity - why would he do that? Would it not make more sense for him to show himself in one way? That way would eliminate all the hate and suffering caused when religious extremists attack those who believe differently. -------------------- Democracy should serve Freedom

some of us are A-theistic, meaning we believe in no god. We owe responsibility to our selves. we have to be able to live with our actions, we have to decide what is right and wrong. There is no heaven, no hell, this life is all you have, and you have to try and make the best of it. I am one who shares in such beliefs, god cannot govern your life, you make your own fate, you are responsible for the actions you make, and You have to answer for them.

christians still have to be responsible for their actions and live with the concequences, and we still decide what happens in our life(decide out fate you mgiht say). also, how can an atheist decided what is right or wrong? what is he basing this decision on? by definition an athiest believes in nothing, and therefor has no morals, and can't have any since he has nothing to base them on. anyways, i doubt God would manifest himself in so many different ways. christianity for example shows use that all people are equal and beautiful, and that loving them is the only way to bring peace. other religions state the murdering those who dont believe is a viable option. god wouldn't contradict himself that way. Some relgions condone sex outside of marraige, while others encourage having sex with any person you've know for longer than 2 and a half minutes, so why would god give us to different rules? the only reason i can think for is because he wants conflict, in which case why didn't he jsut tell his followers to kill everyone and anyone, regardless of pretty much anything. |

...Because the Crusades didn't happen in the 13th and 14th century...the christians didn't kill more people than all the other wars combined in the name of religion. Because having a god tell you that they are bad because they are different is way better than being an athiest.
Look pal. The definition of atheist is the lack of a god, not that I don't believe in anything. I make my own moral judgements based on the kind of person I want to be. I have the control, I have to answer to myself. Unlike you who has to answer to god. So, before you go making broad sweeping generalizations...do a little research...ask a few questions... |

I think God (if there is one) sent down 1 message and different people interperated it in different ways.
My personnal belief is that God is on Holiday and has left his brother in law in charge so that is why the world is at war, why people mug old people, bully kids at school, pick on those weaker than them (george bush is a very good example). Or maybe God created this place perfect but he messed up 1 little detial in humans, that being greed! |
