So I was wondering how you (whoever made it) made this forum. I'd like to make one for UK & Europe Yankees, but I've no idea how to go about doing that. Does anyone have any hints, tips, or ideas?

I can't really help with the making of this forum as this was created as a backup to the original one which was created in about 03 I think (I joined in 04 and it had been around for a bit before then) but the guy who originally created was never actually an active member and was funded by Ta-sports.

We moved to this backup site which I believe was created by Gal (I may be wrong) when things started to go haywire on the old site around mid 09ish and we fully moved last year.

Gal can help or contact Jimmy he has some knowledge of creating boards as he did the ATP one I think i'm right in saying.

Why not get people to sign up on here Toffee, going on past experiences with this place (since the move) and a few other forums I've been a part of setting up a forum is one of the hardest tasks imaginable, getting members to join and be active is very difficult unless you have a platform to advertise your site, we were lucky in the old site that we had Channel 5 advertising us for a bit and there was the fantasy league which was run by 5 and had its own website with members who frequented both here and that site and word spread.

Being a baseball site that difficulty is X10 given the niche following it has in this country.

Not putting you off or anything but just a heads up to the difficulties.

I set up this forum after CubbieDream suggested invisionfree after we started experiencing continuity and reliability problems on the old site. Initially it was just a back-up for when the original site was off-line, but we were forced to move here permanently last year when the old site became untenable.

In order to keep this site easily navigated by existing members I kept as close as I could to the layout and format of the old site.

CubbieDream tweaked the skin initially, and Jimmy changed the skin to it's current format.

Jimmy would probably be a better source of advice than me, I just got to the finishing post by trial and error, I think he has a better and more complete understanding of the system than I do.

Thanks for the help, guys!

@Lee: I realise how hard it would be, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm thinking the techincal side of it will be harder than the fundamental one.

@galraen: Is Invisionfree good to use, and is it [relatively] straightforward? And who is Jimmy? tongue.gif

Well it was simple enough for me to figure it out, so how hard can it be? biggrin.gif

Jimmy is one of the admins.

Oh, okay, thanks biggrin.gif!

Well I'm hoping that means it's reasonably simple tongue.gif.

I've made a Twitter account for the site (Europa Yankees), so I'm going to try and get some followers and stuff first before launching the forum. I already have a former Yankees player following me, so I'm off to a good start wink.gif. Would it be okay for me to put my Twitter handle in my signature on this forum?

As long as you understand we accept no liability if any Redsox or other fans send you undesirable tweets.

Also it would be appreciated if you, or any other member for that matter, encouraged baseball fans to come here.

Red Sox fans, eh? Just bring it, I say wink.gif!

And yeah, I'll link it right now. Does this site have a Twitter feed as well?

Just posted a tweet with a link to this site smile.gif. I only have 20 followers, though, although I'll keep plugging it as I get more.

Not yet, I'm not on twitter so wouldn't know where to start. Maybe one of the other admins can look into it; hint, hint! biggrin.gif

I'm not on Twitter either, well I have an account but have never used it to tweet anything.

Looks in direction of Tijani or FAC, one of them must be on the pulse of the modern world and has an account that is in use

You should look into it. It would probably lead to an increase in members and activity on this forum.
