Ok ITS BACK the Annual Baseballfan predictions competition

Anyone who has entered before knows the basic format, but if not, there’s nothing to it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You predict the standings for each division of all 30 MLB teams.

For each team finishing in the exact position in their division which you have predicted, you will get 1 point, so the maximum points possible here are 30 points.

For each of the 6 divisions where you predict the exact finishing order of all the teams in that division, ie the entire division finishes in the precise order that you predicted, you will also get 5 bonus points for each correct division. In other words, if you predict that the AL West will finish Angels, Rangers, A’s, Mariner...and it does, then you will get 5 bonus points. So the maximum points possible here are 30 points (6 divisions x 5 points)

You predict the American League wild-card winning teams - 5 Points per correct team (10 points Total)

You predict the National League wild-card winning teams - 5 points per correct team (10 points Total)

You predict the American League Champions - 5 points

You predict the National League Champions - 5 points

You predict the 2012 World Series winners - 15 points

You predict the MLB team who finishes with the most regular season wins – 10 points.

You predict the MLB team who finishes with the least regular season wins – 10 points.

You predict the MLB player who hits the most home-runs during the regular season - 10 points

You predict the MLB pitcher with the most wins during the regular season - 10 points

You predict the most improved MLB team – that’s the team with the most improved win/loss record over their 2011 win/loss record – 5 points

You predict the most declining MLB team – that’s the team with the worst win/loss record over their 2011 win/loss record – 5 points

You examine all the probable starters and bullpens, and you predict the team which finishes the regular season with the best combined ‘team ERA’ – 5 points

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE TOTAL MAXIMUM POINTS THAT YOU CAN SCORE IS ... 160

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the event of a tie for 1st place, the ‘tie-breaker’ will be the tying-member who scored the most points in the 30 point divisional predictions question. If it’s still a tie after that, then the winner will be the person whose nominated 'most wins' pitcher ended the season with the lower ERA.

Opening Day for most teams is Wednesday 4th April or Thursday 5th, but you have until Tuesday 10th April to submit your entry, then the topic will be locked until after the World Series, and the winner is announced.

You can post your first thoughts/predictions at any time starting immediately from today, and you can change or edit your predictions as often as you like right up until the closing date of April 10th.

There’s just one rule really, any existing baseballfan.co.uk member can enter the competition, though as there maybe prizes for the winner this year (not guaranteed, but a possibility) any new member registering here and entering the competition, but who does not also becoming reasonably active in other topics on the forum during the season, their entry will be excluded. The definition of somebody being ‘reasonably active’ on the forums is at our own discretion. It’s not unreasonable to expect anybody entering a competition where prizes maybe involved, that they should also try to post and contribute to the overall activity on the forum during the year.

If you have any questions, or spot any flaws in the format, then PM me, don't post them here. By the way, it’s deliberately made a very simple format for one very good reason....sorting out the total points scored for each member who enters already takes several hours every October, it’s just for fun and is intended to be accessible to everyone, whatever their level of knowledge about the game.

Just Copy and Paste the format I lay out below obviously changing teams and players for your own predictions.
