Wow! What a first round, an unprecedented number of trades went down last night, it was crazy! Some major storylines too. I'm delighted with our pick at 6 (traded up from 14) of LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne. His tape & scouting report would suggest he has everything it takes to be a legitimate "playbreaking" & "playmaking" db in the league. His athleticism is top notch too with 4.40 speed. Yes we did give up our 2nd rounder this year but if he fills one of the gaps we had in the secondary from last year I'll be happy.

I like the pick of Ingram also to the Chargers & also thought it was very interesting to see former Yankees minor leaguer Brandon Weeden go in the first round. That will probably spell the end for Colt McCoy in a Browns uniform. Can't wait to see his Browns team mate Trent Richardson also, he was a beast in college so we'll soon see whether he can carry that thru!

How does everyone feel about how their own team did in the first round?

Doubtful, it was a pointless pick which will just result in the Browns having 2 below average QBs who will alternate stints as a starter for the next couple of years.

Serves the Browns right for not trading up to get RG3, they had better picks to offer the Rams than the Skins did.

Phins getting Tannehill is interesting, opinion from those in the know has definitely been split on him. Ranging from potential franchise QB to not being much better than Moore.

Finally gets going for Falcons tonight although getting Samuel for a 7th rounder is a draft move is the best thing we will do this week.

Only the Browns could draft their quarterback of the future and he be older than their incumbent QB.

We have safeties who can play in the box and hit

I think even that is highly debatable!

Considering what I think we all agree was the Jets needs, I think their first pick was bloody awful! Jeez, the team needs a new GM so badly it hurts.

Mind you compared to what was effectively the Raiders first pick (Carson Palmer!), it was a brilliant move!!!! rolleyes.gif

I'm still 50/50 over it. If we're going to play more 4-3 than 3-4 it makes much more sense to draft him. He could be a Pierre-Paul or Peppers type huge pass-rushing guy. If the Jets are going to play him as a down-lineman as part of a 3-4 then it's a wasted pick. I do like his versatility, but Ingram (and Reiff) being on the board made the pick highly debatable. Another big IF is what we do in the second round, if we grab Upshaw or another pass-rushing type then I like the Coples pick more. The problem is we really need a RT and there's some talented guys left who we could make a move for. Having said that, we'll probably go draft a centre or something equally as ludicrous.

In my opinion (and I'm dwelling on the Jets because the Raiders effectively don't have a draft this year apart from compensation picks) the Jets needs were

Right and Left safety; Left and Right Tackle and a Linebacker. your reference to Gholston A_C is very pertinent; this has a history threepeat written all over it!

We have D'brickashaw Ferguson at left tackle and he's a top 10 tackle, in my opinion, so there's no chance he needs replacing. I agree about the Safeties, but who would you have taken? We signed Landry, so a FS was most pressing at that position and Barron is more SS, you can only draft what's on the board. And, by all accounts, we tried trading back. I've read today that we only ranked Ingram as a late first-rounder, so we were never looking to take him at 16.

If we go linebacker, RT, WR or safety - any two of the four - in the next two rounds, then the Coples move makes sense. There's definitely a Gholston vibe to the pick, but if the Jets thought he was the best player available then we should take him. He could be a stud player, but I don't completely understand why we made such a boom/bust pick. All that being said, I'm really excited to see him on the field. If there's one position on the field I would trust Rex to find a great player at it would be defensive lineman.

Maybe it's my memory, but I recall Sanchez being sacked far too often by a guy who had blown past Ferguson last season.

A.J Jenkins from Illinois, don;t get why we didn't explore trading down, and getting Alshon Jeffrey or Stephen Hill, or even Jenkins lower down.

Still, after last year with Aldon Smith, i wouldn't question it. Look how brilliant he was.

If you thought Jenkins was a strange one, how about Wilson?!

Really like the look of our pick, Hill. The guy could be a monster, and he block. Just worried that he doesn't have the CV from college, but I'm hoping that's more down to the program than ability. It looks like Braylon Edwards won't be back now though. Need to get a RT with the next pick.

We selected Kendall Reyes on the second round. The initial reaction seems to be that he was a good pick. Does anyone know much about him?

I really like the first three picks for the Jets. We do still need a RT and this is a terrible draft for safeties after Barron and Smith went in the first round, so I would rather us draft BPA than reach for a guy who isn't starter material. I llike that we have Landry, that cushions the blow more and if Rambo goes in the Supplemental draft we'll make a big push. We ran from a base 4-3 last year more than the 3-4, I think when we broke it down it was like 57% from the 4-3. Coples has unlimited potential, and I love that we had a choice of so many players at #16 and I actually think we made the right one. He has JPP, Peppers written all over him and if anyone can get him to go all out on every snap it's Rex.

Stephen Hill is blistering fast and is the best blocking wide receiver in this draft, he'll give our other receivers time to work underneath and ive us that play action option again. Demario Davis was one of my favourite players in the draft, we had to sit Bart Scott for a lot of 3rd downs last year because we did not have the pace to cover anyone with our linebacking core. Davis has 4.5 speed and great instincts. Right now this is my favourite Jets draft since 2007 and although we do not have a 4th or 5th now....I wouldn't be surprised to see us get back into the 4th by trading future picks if Massie starts to fall.

Brick had a down year at LT last year, but he was still a very good LT who was elite the two years before, also Mark Sanchez's 8 second clock in his head doesn't help with the sacks, he earns a lot of money and is tied in. We do still need a RT, and I would take another RB late. Safety wise I just don't see any starters out there, next years draft will be where you want to be picking a safety. Right now by upgrading our pass rush, it takes a little pressure off the safety.

Ryan Tannehill welcome to the Dolphins

Will he be the guy that finally establishes himself at QB, since 2000 we have gone through so many QBS its unreal, We've drafted guys before who we thought could the franchise guy only to be proven wrong time and time again.

Can't see him starting right away, Matt Moore will be the starter in September, depending on results then we'll see what happens.

Its hard to get excited about drafting a QB anymore as we've struck out so many times I don't want to get excited only for him to flop as he inevitability will.

Like our pick of Martin in the 2nd round, some had him going in the 1st so to drop to the 2nd round was a bit of success.

Like I said before though, I don't follow College football really only what gets reported on ATH, PTI and Sportsnation etc.

Getting Massie would make this a fantastic draft. I don't quite know why he's fallen so much, so that's a little concerning, but adding him to the other guys we've taken would make me feel very confident about the next few seasons.

Hill is going to be a monster, and Davis could minimize the need for a safety even.

Markelle Martin, Antonio Allen and George Iloka are all still there.

If we come away with one of those guys today, it completes a fantastic draft.
