Hey everyone, I'm a 22 year old lad living in Dublin. Ive only really got into baseball since the start of the 2011 season. I made some attempts to especially enjoy the season by getting MLB.tv, buying MLB The Show for PS3 & spending countless hours when I should have been studying watching baseball highlights & managing my fantasy baseball team smile.gif (I finished just sub .500 so I think more work is needed this season)

I've booked to visit New York this summer & am gonna go to Royals @ Yankees when I'm there. There's a few reasons I chose the Yankees to support.
1. An east coast team is easier to follow here just with watching games late night I think
2. They get a nice bit of coverage too
3. My cousin brought me back some NY gear when he was there last & it's pretty cool
4. They have a great history with Babe Ruth, DiMaggio & so on
5. I watched ESPN's 30 for 30 "The House of Steinbrenner" & thought it was brilliant

I hope you guys don't immediately hate me for my choice, I am actually a nice guy smile.gif

I've a really good friend who is a massive LA Angels fan for around 10 years so he helped me get into the game too.
I'm really up for chatting about all things baseball here & the site looks great & is really well organised. Hope you all have a great season & let the show begin!

Welcome aboard mate. As i said in the other thread im off to a game in that series too (although im a mets fan i know a few lads from NYC who support the Yankees so dont hate them).

Know what you mean about supporting a team in the East at least we get games starting at more reasonable times particularly the lunchtime and afternoon starts, cant imagine supporting a team 8 hours behind, its bad enough when the Mets are on the road in a different time zone!

Welcome aboard Chizzler

Don't really hate the Yankees as some do so you're okay with me and Jeter is one of my Fave non Marlins players of all time.

Any questions just ask

Welcome Chizzler (fantastic name - sounds like a dickens character)

I hate the Yankees too - (another Red Sox fan) but NYY are a good choice - East coast makes a big difference - The dedicated A's and angels fans on here burn a lot of midnight oil.

I'm going to NY this April - got two Yankees games booked.

The yankees certainly do have a great history - I enjoyed the film 61 - worth checking out if you haven't seen it.

Roll on opening day!

Rob

Yea I must get my tickets for the Yankees Royals game soon. Really looking forward to it now. Heading on the 21st of May so I'll make one of the games in that series.

It does help having the team on the east side, just makes it easier to watch games, thinking i myt make the plunge & get MLB tv also. I got it last year for about 3 months & really loved it.

Looking forward to seeing how Pineda does this season, we plenty of arms but outside Sabathia everyone else has a few question marks about them. Its gonna be a big season for Phil Hughes after last year's poor showing.

Welcome to the forum Chizzler!

Just think while your in NY supporting the Yankees i'll be back home in Ireland cheering on my beloved Royals watching on mlb.tv! biggrin.gif

Last year we won that series & it was the series that really announced to the rest of Major League baseball that Eric Hosmer was the real deal!

Hope you have a great time are you an actual Dubliner or just living there at the moment?

QUOTE (Chizzler89 @ Feb 13 2012, 10:51 PM)

Im from Monaghan, living in Dublin atm, in 3rd year in UCD.

Your not from too far away from me then as i'm living in Omagh (although i'm a Yorkshireman)!

I've had to start driving again after twenty years (due to my wifes illness) & am starting gradually to go longer distances as my confidence comes back, went to the Rugby at Dungannon on Saturday & have plans to go to Monaghan when the Airtricity League starts up again & check out Roddy Collins's mob!

There was another guy signed up for the forum from Monaghan last year.....Must be something in the water......!
