New here so be kind please tongue.gif

Visiting America for the first time in August next year (dates of 25th-3rd Sep) and looking for some advice for Chicago.

Booked flights and found a couple of hotels but need some help with planning to go see some 'ball.

Looking at one of the Cubs games against Milwaukee. What's the best way to buy tickets, and it is better to go to a day or night match? Also looking for White Sox v Twins on the 3rd (I think) so I can experience both grounds. Again how are tickets and any other info?

Also, looking at the possibility of going to Milwaukee, I take it that it is easy to get to on the amtrak? Is it worth a visit?

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Register on stubhub I always get my tickets off there. It's like an officially endorsed place where people sell their tickets usually less than face value. You buy online and print the tickets at home. Can also buy on official website of cubs or White sox and print at home.

Thanks for the reply,

Looking at buying them soon. I noticed stubhub says you can print them at home which is probably the best option.

Only thing, I think it said that I can only print them only a few days before the game? Is this normal?

Regards,

No you should be able to print them straightaway if you choose the instant delivery option, unless you buy them now in which case they wouldn't be available until April ish or march. The seller gives an indication of delivery time on their individual sale. I'd wait till it indicates they're available immediately.

Alternative is buy direct from clubs website which can also be printed at home, stub hubs often below face value unless it's a big game that's all. Some clubs are already on sale most will go on sale in march. Mets as an example is 10am on 5 march.

Milwaukee is definitely worth a visit.

Great stadium and fantastic eats and one of the few ballparks that actively encourages tailgating.

Inside the Brats (sausages not over-indulged kids) are awesome and almost worth the visit alone.

Very friendly fans, great atmosphere - can't give you any public transportation advice as have always driven to the game (as do most people) but the car parking is plentiful and well organised

Cubs games - personally I'd always try and get to a day game and as they have more of these than anyone else - there's a better than average chance.

Wouldn't discount a White Sox game either - sure it's no in the same league/ballpark as Wrigley, but great burgers (get to the vendor on the main concourse who cooks to order - it's worth the wait!!) and again a good atmosphere and decent place to watch a game, despite having far less character

I get that with Red Sox tickets - you can access your stub account on holiday of course but so far they've been released well before the predicted date. i'm waiting on Yankee and Phillie ones now.

Depends on your cash flow (cost is usually above or near face)but you can get some really good seats on Stub hub - I think they are season ticket holders spares. The single tickets the clubs sell in March+ (depends on the club of course) are often the further away ones. Upper tiers are often a long way away.

Bantamfan,

Sorry to jump in this late.

Did you get the Chicago tickets? One piece of advice is if you are going to see the White Sox at night, make sure you have transport away from the stadium which borders a non too safe area of Chicago.

I am lucky enough to have been to 10 different baseball stadiums in US including both in Chicago. Wrigley is a great experience.

Out of interest, I have always bought tickets through MLB.com and selected the pick-up at kiosk option. I have had no problems at all with this.

There is an El station right by US Cellular Field. Whether going the few stops to Downtown, or just heading south, you'll be part of a crowd and should have no problem
