Got my first taste of live baseball last night, LSU started their defence of the National Championship with a closer than expected 5-4 victory over Centenary.
Obviously going to take some time to get into stride with some of the guys we lost to the MLB last year.
Anthony Ranaudo who is a pre-season All American started on the mound and went 5 innings with just 1 hit, 1 run, 2 BB's and 6 K's. Fast ball looked good and he was spotting it pretty well. Another All American pre-season selecion finished it off, Matty Ott who is probably the best closer in college baseball, went 1,2,3 in the 9th.
Trey Watkins our new left fielder had a busy night, committed an error in the top of the first mishandling a simple fly ball, but then stole two bases and scored three runs to redeem himself.
Miki Mahtook slapped a single to score Landry. Looking forward to watching Mahtook this season, he was outstanding as a Freshman last year and made play after play in the field.
Anyway a 5-4 win, baseball is officially back.
