| QUOTE (WMCHRIS @ Jul 16 2012, 09:47 PM) | Interesting results from the vote. Very small sample I know but I wonder how indicative it is of the spread of teams followed by guys in the UK.
The mets have the most votes but I'm sure thats not a good indicator, im sure that the Yankees or red sox would have the most followers in the uk?
Seen a woman in the pub the other night in a red sox tee shirt, and a guy at the 'tip' the other day in a sf giants ws winners hat from 2010. Never know whether people are baseball fans though or whether they just picked something up on a visit or as a gift, if I went speaking to them and it was the latter I'd come across as a right tool!! |
Thats always the worry, I saw a guy shopping at work the other day in a Dodgers T-shirt with Kershaw on the back but didn't want to say anything in case he just liked the T-shirt on a trip or was bought for him, as it had a number and name and stuff its more likely he was a real fan of the game but didn't want to look an idiot as you say.
More then likely when you see someone in a Yankees cap its just a fashion statement but when its a smaller team or someone wearing a T-shirt or jersey its more then likely the are real fans.
I did get talking to a Dolphins fan who came shopping in our store, he used to wear a T-shirt, Cap, Trainers, Shorts all with Dolphins so I assumed he was a fan, We used to chat whenever he came in for about 2 years before he moved to Miami 2 years ago.

Lots of teens and tweens are wearing Baseball caps now. 59FIFTY style, prisitine, with the labels kept on. I doubt they follow the game or have any strong team affiliation. I saw a guy in a worn out Phillies t-shirt at the Olympic screens in Hyde Park, he told me he didn't know anything about baseball, he'd borrowed the t-shirt from a friend.

| QUOTE (Basset @ Apr 29 2012, 08:19 PM) | | As I suspected.. I appear to be the only Phillies fan. |
I'm suprised by the lack of Phillies, is there really only one supporter here??

No Dodgers? Really. Well they'd get my votes but I also have a soft spot for the Mets and the Twins (because I like Joe Mauer).
