Title: Week Commencing 30th April Game Thread
ToffeeYankee - April 30, 2012 10:22 AM (GMT)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... GO!
Great win for the Yankees yesterday to win the series against the Tigers.
RedSoxDan - April 30, 2012 05:57 PM (GMT)
Just got in and watching the Marlins implode against Arizona. Some comedy defense on show - unless you are a Marlins fan.
Tijani - May 1, 2012 02:27 AM (GMT)
Angels lead the Twins 1-0 through 1. Albert doubles, Morales walks and Torii has a RBI single.
We have Wilson on the mound and the Twins have Blackburn pitching for them.
ToffeeYankee - May 1, 2012 02:33 AM (GMT)
Is Pujols still without a HR?

Yup still no home runs. He is saving them up for when we play the Rangers.
Tijani - May 1, 2012 03:18 AM (GMT)
Angels lead 3-0 through 4. Morales singles and Torii hits a two-run home run.
Torii then makes a nice running catch for the first out of the 5th.
Tijani - May 1, 2012 03:56 AM (GMT)
Angels lead 4-0 through 7. Iannetta hits a solo home run.
Tijani - May 1, 2012 04:35 AM (GMT)
LIGHT UP THE HALO! THE ANGELS WIN AGAIN!
Angels win 4-3.
ToffeeYankee - May 1, 2012 11:17 AM (GMT)
The Red Sox are now at .500, and the AL East is looking very competitive. Realistically, anyone could win it. We have a game in hands over the two teams above us too.
Tijani - May 2, 2012 02:10 AM (GMT)
Angels-Twins has just started. Williams v Liriano.
Kid Cuddy - May 2, 2012 02:21 AM (GMT)
Dee Gordon aka Skinny Swag hit his maiden Major League home run tonight against the Rockies. Nice to see the little guy has some pop in his bat.
Twins @ Angels, will probably have half an eye on this one as am up late studying for exams :)
Tijani - May 2, 2012 02:33 AM (GMT)
Angels lead 2-0 through 2. Torii and Howie each hit a solo home run.

Hey Tijani! My summer college exams & I've got Law of Trusts tomorrow at midday to keep me busy, it's tough going!
Have the Lakers game actually on here, you watching? Lakers looking like they're up for this one early on.

It's a tough time of year for students but I'm sure you will get through it all ok.
I'm not watching the Lakers game at the moment but I'm keeping up to date with the score. Did you see any of game 1? I was really impressed with how we played and I think we could surprise a few people this year. Bynum is playing at a consistently high level which I've been waiting for for the last few seasons.
Angels lead 4-0. Iannetta walked, Trout bunted for a hit, Callaspo bunted the runners over, Albert grounded out scoring a run and Torii had a RBI single.
Kid Cuddy - May 2, 2012 03:01 AM (GMT)
Yea, Im in my 3rd of 4 years so at least I'm getting through it!
I didn't see game 1. Bynum seemed to be dominant from what you say & all the reports I've read. He always had it in him to be an elite player in the league, hopefully he can maintain this level now & build on it. Have you ever been over to LA to see your beloved sides? I'd dream of making the trip one day, hopefully in the next few years!
Good start for your Angels tonight, on the board early.

We have started well and the Rangers have lost so we can make up some ground if we win.
I have some family friends who live in Anaheim and I have been over to visit them and managed to go to an Angels game. Unfortunately it wasn't basketball, hockey or american football season so I didn't get to see any of my other teams play. I would love to go over at some point and see them all play.

Nice one, still nice to get over to see some small ball. I'd say seeing Angel Stadium in the flesh was great. It would be nice to get to a hockey & basketball game also. It's just hard to find a time when all of the teams are playing, probably April would be best as you'd have MLB beginning, NBA & NHL also still in season.
A Dodgers, Kings, Lakers & Clippers ticket for me would have me very very happy! :D Although Im guessing your a Ducks fan? Im heading to New York later this month so hope the Rangers are still involved so maybe just maybe I could go to a game!

It's a difficult thing to do and you almost have to bank on a team being in the playoffs to be able to watch them all in one trip. I am indeed a Ducks fan, we had a disappointing season although we did make it interesting for a period at the end. The Kings have been doing well but I think the Predators will win the West and go on to win it all this year. Have you watched many Kings games this season?
A 7 point lead at halftime for the Lakers. I will take that. Hopefully we can hold on and take a 2-0 lead in the series.

I actually have only gotten into the NHL really this summer so haven't seen much of the Kings. I've had the NY trip on my mind so have been keeping more of an eye on Lunqvist & the guys hoping they can keep it going for a couple more weeks at least. So when I chose my team it'll be either the Kings or Rangers, that's for sure :)
Yea good first half in LA, Bynum was dominant early on the Kobe started to light up. A 2-0 lead in the series would be huge. Although Oklahoma City are probably the best team in the West (I think) I think LA will have something to say in the West definitely!
Squeeky bum time in Colarado as the Rockies have rallied & its now only 7-6 Dodgers in the top of the 9th. The Angels holding out well also, maintaining their lead well. Albert due up shortly. Cmon man!
Tijani - May 2, 2012 04:18 AM (GMT)
LIGHT UP THE HALO! THE ANGELS WIN AGAIN!
Angels win 4-0. Williams throws a complete game shutout.
Good night Kid Cuddy. Hopefully the Lakers can hold onto this 12 point lead.
Kid Cuddy - May 2, 2012 04:19 AM (GMT)
I've my fingers crossed Tijani! Good win for you guys tonight, good chatting & good night!
Vader - May 2, 2012 06:12 PM (GMT)
Blue Jays up 8-1 on Texas but Ricky Ro walks the bases loaded and now we are only 8-3 up... nobody out! :o
Hoping he can get out of this without it going all wrong!!
Vader - May 2, 2012 06:14 PM (GMT)
Kid Cuddy - May 3, 2012 12:47 AM (GMT)
Anyone on the late shift tonight? I'm up late again tonight, doing a bitta study whilst keeping an eye on baseball, basketball & hockey scores.
Some big games tonight, disappointing to lost to the Rockies after Giambi hit a walkoff homer.
Tijani - May 3, 2012 02:53 AM (GMT)
Angels lead 3-0 through 2. Wells scored on a double from Morales in the first. In the second, Howie scored form first on a double from Trumbo. Iannetta was then hit by a pitch, Bourjos bunted the runners over and Trumbo scored on a single from Aybar.
Tijani - May 3, 2012 03:16 AM (GMT)
Angels lead 6-0 through 3. Morales hit a solo home run. Torii scored on a single from Trumbo and Howie scored on a double from Bourjos. Hendricks was taken out of the game after only 2 1/3 innings.
Tijani - May 3, 2012 03:35 AM (GMT)
Angels lead 9-0 through 4. Albert and Torii score on a 3-run home run from Howie Kendrick.
Tijani - May 3, 2012 04:13 AM (GMT)
If anybody is about then I would advise watching the Angels game.
Tijani - May 3, 2012 04:30 AM (GMT)
Here we go on to the 9th.
Tijani - May 3, 2012 04:37 AM (GMT)
JERED WEAVER HAS THROWN A NO-HITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Leemarlin87 - May 3, 2012 04:54 AM (GMT)
Damn it logged on 5 minutes to late to see the end of the no Hitter
Marlins currently leading 2-0 Bottom of the 8th
Zambrano threw 7 scoreless and now Mujica is in tryiing to hold this lead
Kid Cuddy - May 3, 2012 05:07 AM (GMT)
Just saw that Weaver got a no-hitter! That's what makes all these late nights worthwhile Tijani! What a moment!, delighted for him!
Leemarlin87 - May 3, 2012 05:17 AM (GMT)
Heath Bell is a bum
WASTE OF MONEY, Just horrific
he has faced 3 batters, given up a double, a runs coring single and another single which moved the runner to 3rd
Ozzie thankfully has pulled him this time and not letting him meltdown completely like in NY a week ago
Marlins lead 2-1 but with runners on the corners and no outs, that lead wont be lasting long
We need a new closer, Bells ERA is 10.57 and with the man on 3rd his run as well, that will be increasing again soon
Leemarlin87 - May 3, 2012 05:35 AM (GMT)
Giants get the run on a suicide squeeze
Bases get loaded but we escape out of it and go to extras
Stanton hits a Home Run to Left so we have the lead back, can we keep it this time?
RaysTheRoof - May 3, 2012 05:41 AM (GMT)
Great night for Weaver, he's one of the best pitchers around and deserves that, and he was almost perfect as he only allowed 2 hitters to even get on base. Though the Twins are so bad this year that it wouldn't even surprise me if somebody else no-hit them :D
Leemarlin87 - May 3, 2012 05:46 AM (GMT)
Marlins win 3-2
Nice to take the 1st of the series from the Giants in San Fran after losing 8 of the previous 9 games
Just really need to get Bell sorted or remove him from the closers role
Basset - May 3, 2012 05:45 PM (GMT)
Forgot that Phillies were a early game today so just turned it on to see a sol homer put us 2-0 up just about to go to top of the 8th.
Think I might have slipped into a parallel universe with Blanton actually pitching well the day after Halladay concedes 8 in 5.1 innings. The Phillies with no offence at all score 13 and still lose....
Basset - May 3, 2012 06:08 PM (GMT)
4-0 Up thanks to a Victorino 2 run homer.. just going to the bottom of the 9th.
splashball - May 3, 2012 10:04 PM (GMT)
Ever since I've started supporting the Giants they've turned to crud
3-1 down in the 8th
