Title: Week Commencing 16th April Game Thread
ToffeeYankee - April 17, 2012 11:16 PM (GMT)
Probably not a whole lot of point for having one every single day, although some may disagree. If people don't think a weekly thread is a good idea, then feel free to lock/delete this topic.
Right, after a poor game against the Twins last night (Garcia had a mare, although credit goes to Pavano for pitching a brilliant game), I'm hoping that the Yankees can turn it all around tonight. I wish CC could pitch everyday :(.
Kid Cuddy - April 18, 2012 12:11 AM (GMT)
Watching the Rangers @ Red Sox. 4-2 Rangers in the bottom of the 2nd.
Lester has been very bad! 63 pitches given up through just 2 innings including 49 in the 2nd. Not sure if he'll return in the 3rd as there has already been action in the bullpen.
StL Tim - April 18, 2012 12:39 AM (GMT)
Reds @ Cards. Cueto pitching for Reds, Lohse pitching for Cardinals. Nice start for St Louis, solo homer from Beltran bottom 1st, his 4th of the year.

Saw beginning of that game and I second that :D
StL Tim - April 18, 2012 03:05 AM (GMT)
heading to extras. Should probably have closed it 1-0 but dug ourselves a hole with a couple of errors in the 8th that led to Reds tying it up 1-1. Had bases loaded with 1 out bottom 9th but neither Holliday or Berkman could get it done. Tough on Lohse, pitched really well, deserved a win.
Wow that Red Sox game got ugly!
StL Tim - April 18, 2012 03:36 AM (GMT)
Thats the ball game, Matt Carpenter pinch hitting with bases loaded bottom 10th lines out to right field and Tyler Greene tags up at 3rd and beats throw home for the winning run. Nice win, Cardinals now 8-3.
Tijani - April 18, 2012 03:43 AM (GMT)
The Angels lead 2-1 through 6. Both teams scored in the 5th. The A's on a solo home run from Barton and Wells scored on a groundout from Bourjos for the Angels. We have now taken the lead in the 6th as Morales scored on a single from Torii.
Tijani - April 18, 2012 04:19 AM (GMT)
Jepsen comes in and gives up 2 runs in the 8th and we still only have 1 out.
Tijani - April 18, 2012 04:24 AM (GMT)
It is now 5-2 and I think that is game over.
Rabscallion - April 18, 2012 04:29 PM (GMT)
Weds 18th
Just got home from work to see Mets take a 1-0 lead v Braves
That's me for the next couple of hours!
Rabscallion - April 18, 2012 04:46 PM (GMT)
Pretty easy for the braves in the end but a good game for a while. Mets had em loaded in the sixth but it wasn't to be.
Very wet there today - hope things brighten up for my trip next week!
Fella - April 19, 2012 01:27 AM (GMT)
Rockies were 1-0 down in a heartbeat, at the start of the game against The Padres.
Crazy 2nd inning for us, as we scored 5-runs with a HR and a few Doubles.
Bottom 3rd, 558th Double for Todd Helton.
Score is 5-1 Rockies, Top 4th!!!
Tijani - April 19, 2012 03:35 AM (GMT)
The Angels trail 3-0 through 5. The A's scored 3 runs in the first all on a home run from Cespedes. We haven't managed to get a man to 2nd base yet and don't look like we are going to score.
As I type the A's make it 4-0 on a solo home run.
Tijani - April 19, 2012 03:38 AM (GMT)
I probably should add that Wells would have probably caught the A's first hit in the 1st and Abreu maybe should have been able to make the play but didn't.
ToffeeYankee - April 19, 2012 11:34 AM (GMT)
Another disappointing game last night.
Kuroda... sigh.
Kid Cuddy - April 20, 2012 01:20 AM (GMT)
Nice win for us earlier in Milwaukee. Good to get one win after a couple of close losses.
Any Angels fans or anyone else up for the late ones? :)
Kid Cuddy - April 20, 2012 02:46 AM (GMT)
Yet another impressive win for the Rangers. It's not even over and they've already racked up 10 runs on 19 hits. Their lineup is really looking impressive. The Angels are going to have to get things going to compete for the AL West crown.
Tijani - April 20, 2012 03:18 AM (GMT)
I'm watching the Angels game but I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. The last few games have been awful viewing from an Angels perspective.
Kid Cuddy - April 20, 2012 03:40 AM (GMT)
What's going on with your Angels? Haven't been able to get it going at all of late. Hopefully you guys can get a good streak underway soon. Texas are looking very strong.

Nothing really seems to be going for us at the moment. The starting pitching has shown some positive signs but hasn't been consistent and Santana and Haren struggled early. We haven't really got going offensively and we haven't taken our chances when we created them. The bullpen has been poor which hasn't helped. Every team goes through a few periods like this during the season but the problem is ours has come at the start of the season so everyone is noticing it and it is also being blown up even more by how well the Rangers are doing.
Tijani - April 20, 2012 04:25 AM (GMT)
We get men on the corners with nobody out and can't score. Still trailing 4-2 through 6.

ToffeeYankee - April 20, 2012 09:00 AM (GMT)
I love Curtis Granderson! Three home run haul last night, I think he's six on the season now.
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 06:25 PM (GMT)
Friday 20th
Big night tonight - Reds at Cubs needing a win and you know who in Beantown
I don't often say this out load - 'Come on you Reds"
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 06:28 PM (GMT)
Top 1st
Reds one up - Votto RBI single. I hope that's a sign of things to come tonight.
Mex_17 - April 20, 2012 06:42 PM (GMT)
Reds have scored 4 in the first and now have runners at the corners and two outs.
Watching this game before switching over to the 100th anniversary of Fenway game at 8. Should be a good one.
Here's the throwbacks each team will be wearing:

Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 06:42 PM (GMT)
Sweet start for the Reds past the hapless Cubs. Middle of the 1st - 9 batters up 4-0 to the Redlegs. Volstad 40 pitches!

Those contracts won't pay for themselves !
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 06:47 PM (GMT)
Need a good first inning by Homer Bailey He's a flyable pitcher, so wind should help
ToffeeYankee - April 20, 2012 07:11 PM (GMT)
Only a few minutes until the start of the game! Let's go Yankees!
ToffeeYankee - April 20, 2012 07:15 PM (GMT)
I didn't realise I shared a birthday with Fenway Park! Haha!
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 07:16 PM (GMT)
Here we go. Different sides tonight hey Toffee yank
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 07:24 PM (GMT)
Sums it up this year so far -Jeter who Reached on an error opens the scoring
RedSoxDan - April 20, 2012 07:26 PM (GMT)
Not a brilliant start. Conditions for fielding appear pretty tough though.
ToffeeYankee - April 20, 2012 07:30 PM (GMT)
And now Jeter is above Dave Winfield on the all-time hit list. Big error there, and we were lucky to get the run, but a nice base hit by A-Rod.
Loving the old school vibe to it. For tonight, we are the Highlanders!
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 07:30 PM (GMT)
Yes, although it was an error, dustin was unlucky with that full sun.
ToffeeYankee - April 20, 2012 07:32 PM (GMT)
I like Nova; I have confidence in him. I also have confidence in CC and Pineda; the others? Not so much.
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 07:33 PM (GMT)
Nice curve ball for the 1st out
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 07:36 PM (GMT)
Cubs have pulled 2 back in the third but drop 2 more in the fourth now6-2 Reds. Reasonable start for Nova, let's hope Clay has a bit more luck now
Rabscallion - April 20, 2012 07:42 PM (GMT)
SHeesh solo shot over the monster -oh man!
RedSoxDan - April 20, 2012 07:45 PM (GMT)
Eric Chavez?! This is not good.
