Welcome to the UK Baseball Supporters backup forum. Hopefully we won't be using this for too long, but we may as well make ourselves comfortable. If anyone has any suggestions as to how we can make the site more attractive don't hesitate to make them.
OK here's how things stand. We had to close the original forum as the admin/moderation tools are broken and we were unable to prevent constant spamming. Basically we weren't able to ban users or even worse, IP addresses. The only way we had to delete a user was by deleting that particular user, and that did not prevent the same user creating another account. Last night spammers were opening new accounts as fast, or faster than I could delete them.
So what happens now?
The server administrator is going to do something that was agreed upon ovre a year ago, but wasn't acted upon because he simply didn't have enough hours in a day. He is going to re-create the forum on a new, more efficient engine. This will take time, how much we don't know, and when it's finished we will only have access to the existing forum as an archive. In other words all our post counts will start again at zero and apart from the archive we'll be starting from scratch.
This was proposed two years ago, but was put off due to the reluctance to lose the continuity, but in reality it was just delaying the inevitable.
If anyone has any suggestions in how to improve the look and feel of the original forum, let us know. Hopefully the server administrator of the old site will stop by from time to time, if not we can forward any suggestions to him.
In the meantime I guess we continue to use this forum, I apologise for the inconvenience, and hope you can stick with us.

Fair enough Gal. Chapeau to all the team for having such an efficient backup available.
When you say 're-create the forum' will the basic layout and categories in the original forum will be kept, or that in addition to above all the posts made by bloggers will also be kept?
Not sure what you mean by the last sentence Barney.
