Allen was playing his guitar. In the Lobby, which was rather unusual for him, because he preferred playing in his room. However; he had brought his guitar down to show a small girl who was there with her mother how shiny it was, and she said she liked shiny guitars. The man was rather eccentric and wore a vibrantly coloured tie die shirt with a giant smiley face at its center which seemed to show it.
At any rate, when he came down with it, the girl's eyes lit up as she saw it and wanted him to play. Allen didn't usually like playing his guitar when he wasn't in his room and didn't normally play in public, and on top of that, he never finished an entire song, but if it was for the tenants, why not? Allen strummed a few chords and hoped that the glistening sound his guitar made was enough to satisfy the girl, but she demanded that he sang too. He heard her mother come out of the line for the main office for a quick moment to tell her daughter to stop "harassing the nice young man," and quickly apologized for her daughter's behavior.
Allen was more than willing to just smile and see what he could think up, though. he wasn't normally the kind of person to sing in public either. He decided that he would, but before he could do it, he would need to make sure his guitar was tuned. Unfortunately for him, the string that seemed to be out of tune was rather rusty and it snapped when he tried to put it back in order. He supposed at the rate it kept getting out of tune and ruining the sweet melodies that it would eventually happen. He just didn't except it to be so sudden. No one got hurt, but it was still rather surprising and Allen looked as though his heart were broke.
Taking a moment to think positively his gaze went wide-eyed and owl-like. Well... there went that. His audiance was not impressed with the broken string and joined her mother back in line and left Allen rather upset as he looked at the broken string.

Hyperion's day had been long and rather boring. It had been a long day in court, as the opposing lawyer had talked on about nothing for most of it, asking rather pointless questions, and talking at such a slow speed that he managed to put half the courtroom to sleep. But unlike his client, who looked half asleep, Hyperion had stayed alert, taking notes about anything of interest. In his view it was all rather pointless, the sort of case that could have easily been settled out of court, but neither party had been able to agree on a settlement.
Several hours before court had been spent going over case notes for the case, and taking several quick meetings with other clients. After court, he had talked with his client and headed back to his office, before he realised that he would much rather go back to his apartment and get some dinner, where he would go over his notes later. So he had put everything that he needed in his backpack, and left the office earlier than he usually did.
Entering the lobby, a man was playing guitar and singing. Hyperion stopped nearby and listened to the music, enjoying what he was hearing. Neither him or his partner was musically talented, and neither could sing over well. It didn't stop his partner Benji from singing, albeit horribly, in the shower though.
When a string on the guitar broke Hyperion moved over to him, smiling. "I like your music, I think you are quite good. And you sing a lot better than my partner's attempts at singing." Benji truly was a horrible singer, but he seemed to enjoy singing in the shower so Hyperion had learn to ignore the noise.

Allen looked up. It was a man with a very strange hairdo. Allen actually liked it though. He thought it looked rather nifty. Perhaps it was just the way Allen was raised, but he suddenly felt as thought he couldn't say anything intelligent anymore. He wasn't quite sure how to respond to an actual compliment. He never got any of those at home. Except from his friend, but she said that it was her job to let him know when he did a good job. And here he was in public getting an actual compliment on his ability to sing, from a dude with a wacky hair cut. That and a suit. Allen didn't have a suit. Did he want a suit? Probably not. That would look eternally weird on him... or so he thought. Maybe one day he would get a really nice looking suit and he would wear it. Just once, so as to know what it felt like. Yes. That sounded agreeable. Suits really did look official though. Pulling his mouth open to respond, Allen spoke.
"I try my best," he said, in that oh so familiar voice lathered in sweet silence. It was very low toned. It wasn't exactly a whisper, but had the air of a low voice traveling towards you, that it was such a shock that a voice that sounded so quietly had spread so far. "I seem to have broken my string. I really don't know where to go to get a new one. You wouldn't happen to know where I could get one do you?" he asked. Sure. Allen had been on the streets, but he hadn't gone inside too many buildings. If he had paid close attention, he would have noticed the shop that Mickey Dacquil worked at to sell musical instruments. It would have been expensive, but well worth the price for the quality. There were other stores too, mostly in malls, but everytime he went to a mall, it was so vast he hardly could find his way out. He liked malls, but they were confusing at times.

Hyperion didn't have the faintest idea where to get guitar strings from, as neither he or his partner were musical. "No, sorry I don't. Neither me or my partner are the musical sort." Music had never really interested anyone in his family, so he had never taken any notice of where any music shops were. He knew Benji's older sister played the clarinet, but as far as he knew she lived on the opposite side of the country, and had never been here. "My partner's sister plays the clarinet, but she lives on the other side of the country, so that would be no help."
Hyperion ran a hand through his hair, which had been styled into a more formal style due to his day in court. It was a little messy now, but he had been careful to keep it tidy for the rest of the day, but on his walk back to his apartment it had gotten messier. But he was still dressed formally, in a three piece suit. Black trousers, jacket and waistcoat, blue tie, and polished black shoes. "Sorry I can't be of any help."

"I suppose that's alright," Allen said.
It would seem to Allen that the strange haired man was slightly distressed that he could not help, but it didn't bother Allen too much. He appreciated the effort, for it was the effort that mattered. And hey! It was always good to help your fellow neighbor, so why not return the favor right?
"By the way, I've never mentioned it before, but I think your hair is cool," he said, no longer able to resist complimenting the funny haircut he had grown attached to seeing.

Allen looked at his orange watch and noticed the time. It was about time for him to grab some dinner. Allen wasn't exactly hungry, but he figured that if he didn't get something to eat now he would be starved later and regret it.
"I guess I'll look for strings later," he said. "I should go get something to eat." With a smile and a wave, Allen picked up his guitar and went upstairs to put it away. He would go eat after he put it way.
