Saturday at five in the evening. Eloise had put up a note in the main hallway to draw attention to the event; well, not really an event in the most classic sense of the word, but it was still the rare bit of excitement at La Alcoba. Like everything she did, she spent a good amount of hours rearranging the library during the week, and several more returning to glare at any guest who tried to fix it back.
And quite suddenly, it was Saturday morning. Gavin was supposed to be there in a few hours. Gavin... with every thought she gave that name, she could see Johanna's smirk branding itself on the back of her eyes. What a ridiculous concept, the thought of them being a couple. The thought of her wanting to be a couple. The thought of-
NO, DAMMIT, she was a professional. Professional people didn't think about illicit liaisons. Still, she spent a lot more time stressing over the afternoon than she normally would have, which was saying something.
By twenty to five, she was waiting by the front door, dressed in a skirt that floated around her knees. Eloise told him five, meaning that she set the performance time as five-thirty, meaning that if anything happened, there'd be time to fix it.
She hoped he wasn't going to be late; she was so restless that the only thing she could do was wait.
