Um...so...the first book...impressions? Comments? Anything?
In my opinion, having now read all three, it was probably the most humorous. And frankly, I would have NEVER guessed that Kitty was going to have such a big part later.
Or maybe that was just my own lack of foresight. Probably was.

i can't seem to recall the first book that well (it's been a while since i last re-read it) but i do distinctly remember loving barty almost immediately. he was just absolutely hilarious!! but i liked him just a wee bit more in the 1st book. it was all that POWER that he possessed...he kicked butt! anyway, i kinda suspected that there was gonna be more kitty. perhaps it's from the "training" i got from harry potter - rowlling never dropped names if they weren't significant in some way or other.

I didn't expect Kitty to get a larger role either, so you're not alone in that one. The first one was the best for Barty fans, at least - it's very rereadable because of his humor and such. And it's really fun because the origins of Nathaniel are shown.

I for one actually thought that Kitty would appear later in the trilogy. She was mentioned quite a few times, and at the end of TAoS, Nat basically told us that the next book would deal heavily with the Resistance.
But that's just me.

I suspected the Resistance, but I completely forgot about Kitty and them. I was too caught up in the story. *shrugs*

I just thought of them because of how much Nat was bent on revenge.

Well, I beat you all. I didn't even know there WAS a second book until I looked under the authors name, saw the Golem's Eye, and thought "Trilogy. Duh." I felt pretty dumb for a while.

Well Trilogy doesn't nessasarily mean it has to be a trilogy. Just look at Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Isn't it like five books. The longest trilogy ever.

Yeah, but Jonathan Stroud isn't nearly as crazy as Douglas Adams. At least, according to the Trilogy and Buried Fire, he doesn't seem like it. But on topic... Personally, AoS would have to be my second favorite out of 3. Betcha can't guess the order of the other two

I think I liked it the least. Or it's tied with GE.
Though I rabidly loved both of those.

Yeah, I love them all, but Ptolemy's Gate the most. Then Amulet of Samarkand (when you can spell that correctly, you know you love the book) and then Golem's Eye.
I liked AoS better then Golem's Eye just because it was a really catching start to a series, in a way. And it had a killer start. That's another thing Stroud has over Rowling, his books don't start with his main character waking up to a major migraine. EVERY TIME.
