Title: Attributes

DreamClan
spirited, energetic, arrogant

Clan Character:

The cats of DreamClan are most easily defined as free spirits. They go where they please, do as they please, and only a very firm leader can keep them out of trouble. As a result of this, the cats of DreamClan are probably the most unorganized of all the Clans and they're not all that close as a Clan. They often look down upon the other Clans, and won't hesitate to make their opinions known.

Naming:

DreamClan cats usually have wilder, fiercer names. They enjoy using names involving birds, wind, the moor and sharp things (i.e. thistle, thorn, etc.).

Territory:

The rolling moorlands cover a good amount of the land, interspersed by the occasional tree or stream. DreamClan warriors hunt the rabbits that make their burrows there so often, and spend most of their hunting time crouched outside waiting holes or chasing rabbits across the open land.

Prey:
  • Rabbits/hares
  • Mice
Hunting Techniques:
  • DreamClan warriors are patient enough that they will often crouch outside a burrow hole for hours in wait, and pounce on a rabbit as soon as it sticks it's nose out.
  • Even the most inexperienced apprentices have the speed to chase a hare through the heather and catch it.
  • DreamClan warriors are also rather experienced at stalking rabbits and mice, concealing their pelts in the heather.

NightmareClan
quiet, stubborn, ambitious

Clan Character:

Generations of living in the dark and sneaking through swamps have taught NightmareClan cats to be quiet. They don't talk much, but when they do speak, it's with a purpose. Their minds are stubborn as rocks and nearly impossible to sway, so grudges are easily created and held for a very long time. They're naturally quite ambitious, constantly striving to best their Clanmates, but are surprisingly close as a Clan.

Naming:

NightmareClan prefers mellow, quiet names, usually sticking very closely to a cat's appearance and attitude. A NightmareClan cat's name is a good indicator of their abilities, mindset and appearance.

Territory:

NightmareClan territory is primarily either pine trees or swamp. A cat not native to the territory would more likely than not quickly fall into swampy water or quicksand, unprepared, and the little bit of ground that's not constantly wet is covered with ivy and vines.

Prey:
  • Mice, moles, voles
  • Birds
  • Squirrels, chipmunks
  • Snakes or frogs, occasionally

Hunting Techniques:
  • Warriors have to be very careful when hunting and know exactly where they're placing their paws; this is part of the reason they've learned to hunt from the trees. They'll crouch on a lower branch, and as soon as they catch sight of prey, leap down on top of it.
  • Light-weight warriors can more or less walk across the thick swamp covering, easily stalking frogs and snakes.

HorrorClan
peaceful, relaxed, loyal

Clan Character:

Despite their name, HorrorClan cats are quite energetic and friendly, and spend a good amount of their time playing games in the tree-tops rather than hunting and fighting. When not playing they're very relaxed and easygoing, quite difficult to anger, and very quick to agree with each other. Few arguments arise within HorrorClan, and they're possibly the most loyal and close-knit of the Clans.

Naming:

HorrorClan cats enjoy bright, playful names, especially ones connected to the forest, nature, and cheerful animals like squirrels or finches. Alike DreamClan, they usually have odd names that don't really have anything to do with a cat's appearance or attitude.

Territory:

HorrorClan's forest is mainly made up of oak, beech and the occasional ash trees, and the undergrowth is surprisingly sparse. The forest is always rather bright and full of activity, whether it be the cats or prey animals.

Prey:
  • Squirrels, chipmunks
  • Mice, voles, moles
  • Forest birds
  • Rabbits

Hunting Techniques:
  • HorrorClan cats are experts at stalking, and will slide easily over the smooth ground of the forest to pounce on squirrels or mice.
  • Being excellent climbers and jumpers, HorrorClan will often run through the treetops and catch birds from up high or in their nests.

DelusionClan
independent, adaptable, content

Clan Character:

DelusionClan cats are independent and perfectly content with being alone and hunting alone. They're by far the most adaptable of the Clans, willing to try out almost any new idea and content with just about any situation. They keep their own counsel and only share ideas when a Clan meeting is held, so there are very few arguments among them. Even so they're not particularly close as a Clan, preferring to be alone or in a small group of friends and family.

Naming:

DelusionClan focus on names that involve their beloved streams and river. Any creature that lives in the water is fair game, as well as wind-related and sky-related names.

Territory:

Most of DelusionClan territory is open and fairly flat, interspersed with patches of trees. The only river, connected to the nearby ocean, runs through most of their territory, and one of the curves is where their camp is, despite the danger from flooding. Extremely reflective pools and ponds and frequent around the territory, as well.

Prey:
  • Fish
  • Mice or rabbits in leafbare
  • Crabs
  • Shrimp

Hunting Techniques:
  • DelusionClan cats usually hunt by crouching on the bank of the river, or one of the rocks a little ways in, and hooking a fish out of the water with their claws when it comes by.
  • Many cats dive down into the river or deeper pools, catching fish, crabs or other small sea animals in the jaws before surfacing and killing them.
  • During leafbare, when the pools and occasionally river freeze over, DelusionClan cats will stalk the small copses of trees for mice or rabbits.

LostClan
secretive, wily, defensive

Clan Character:

LostClan cats are defensive and easily angered, and it's not uncommon for them to be the ones causing fights during Gatherings. They're cunning and proud of it, and more than capable of finding all sorts of ways to get what they want. They're very secretive, even from their own Clanmates, and they're probably one of the most loosely organized and disjointed Clans because of this.

Naming:

LostClan names tend to be rather generic, focusing solely on the appearance and things a queen first sees or thinks of when she kits. Because of the barren land of their territory, LostClan names don't have much variety.

Territory:

Barren, rocky land and the occasional stream makes up LostClan territory. The cave that is their camp is really the only area of shelter in the entire territory, the only place to hide from the sweltering heat at sunhigh. LostClan is the Clan most often struck by drought in green-leaf, forcing them to beg one of the other Clans for water.

Prey:
  • Rabbits
  • Rats, mice
  • Birds

Hunting Techniques:
  • Because the heat is so terrible during the day, LostClan hunts almost exclusively at night. Over the generations their night vision has adapted, becoming much better than other cats. They use this to their advantage to spot the mice, rats and occasional rabbits that come out when the sun goes down, stalking them over the smooth dirt.
  • On occasion, LostClan cats will crouch atop large boulders during the day, their pelts blending in with the terrain, and wait for a bird to fly by so they can pounce.

RuinClan
reserved, curious, intelligent

Clan Character:
In Current RuinClan, the cats have almost nothing at all in common, most of them being loners or rogues that joined the Clan after it was run out of it's old territory. Old RuinClan was fairly reserved compared to the other Clans, though not among themselves, being a surprisingly close Clan. They were usually pretty curious and this often got the younger cats into trouble, but they were all pretty intelligent, as well.

Naming:
Old RuinClan names tended to focus on the rocky hills and streams of their territory, and were usually rather mild, quiet names. Current RuinClan names really have nothing in common, as most of the loners and rogues chose not to take Clan names when they joined.

Territory:
New RuinClan territory is drastically different from their old territory. Situated above HorrorClan and DelusionClan territory, sharing a single border with each of them, it's a cross between open prairie and forest. A good portion is open land, will rolling hills covered in wild grasses and flowers, while the rest and where they make camp is forest much similar to HorrorClan's land.

Prey:
  • Birds
  • Mice, voles, mole
  • Rabbits
  • Squirrels, chipmunks

Hunting Techniques:
  • RuinClan cats have become skilled at jumping through and from the trees, catching birds off the branches or out of their nests and using the height to pounce unnoticed on ground prey.
  • The faster RuinClan cats often chase rabbits across the prairie, or wait by their burrow holes for them to emerge and then pouncing.
  • They're rather good at stalking prey across the forest floor, mainly squirrels, chipmunks and mice.
