Physical Description

Physical Description: With his American Caucasian mother and Spaniard father, Asa ended up the perfect mix of those two ethnicities. He's not tall by any means just reaching five foot and six inches. Almost all men, and a good portion of women can see over his head but, what he lacks in size he definitely makes up for in attitude. He's always kept a well toned body simply for the fact when he's upset or having a problem the best way for him to clear his head is to work out. Asa is Caucasian with a genetic tan and a hint of olive complexion. His hair is a rich medium brown which he keeps very short, most of the time buzzed and occasionally in a faux hawk. His eyes are like his hair, brown but not dark - like coffee with a lot of cream. As far as modifications go, both ears are pierced and he's got a number of tattoos, the most notable is the large shoulder piece of Ganesha, the Hindu god widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings.

Characters Personality

Personality: On first impression, you may see someone that's quiet preferring to observe than interact. He's kind of stand off-ish at least at first. He's friendly, but not necessarily approachable. He tends to hide his emotions behind a wall of impassiveness but, much to his dismay his eyes are incredibly expressive. Once he gets to know someone or gets close to them they see a much more open person. Someone who is playful and warm. He's loyal, so very loyal and protective of the people he's close to. He's a little lost right now, just trying to find the best version of himself.

Not to say that he doesn't have his bad side, as stoic as he tries to be Asa is a highly emotional person with an explosive temper. Let him feel wronged or betrayed and an extremely dark person emerges, one that's okay with compensating his own hurt with physical pain. Occasionally he can find himself in dark places within his own psyche at times its unavoidable and bouts of depression do happen. He always seems to have a lot on his mind, very introspective. Sometimes he's so involved with himself that other people slip between the cracks.

Asa's biggest secret is that he's gay but he's quite possible the straightest gay man you will ever meet. He doesn't like talking about his sexuality, even though it's a big deal for him and has caused a lot of problems before in his life. Asa is still in denial and confused, for the longest time he simply ignored how he felt or tried to change it with whatever pretty girl he could find. That went badly when an ex decided to out him to his family. His father, a traditional Spanish catholic condemned him to hell and disowned him. He spent the last year of his life angry and the two never spoke again. Asa feels guilty, and that he should have at least tried to reconcile with his old man.

Facts:

- he's a smoker, and is not liking the fact he doesn't have cigarettes
- he carries as metal zippo lighter that he's had since he was 18, a lucky charm of sorts.
- he speaks both English and Spanish fluently, although he tends revert to Spanish when angry or surprised.
- he was a dual citizen of the united states and Spain. His mother hailing from Louisiana and his father from Barcelona, Spain
- he can appreciate an attractive woman and he has done so for a long time to conceal his true nature, even now when he's free to be whoever he would like he still hides his sexuality
- he would do just about anything to keep others from finding out
- during his teenage years he tended to find himself in the wrong crowds

Personal History: Asa's mother, Nicole was born and raised in a small town on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana to a small hardworking family. Her life was a fairly mundane small town life until she graduated high school and went on a trip to Spain with several of her friends as a graduation present. It was on her trip in Barcelona, Spain that she met Isaac Cayetano the rebellious young heir to his family's prestigious wine vineyard. They spent all of all her trip together and when it was time for her to leave the rebellious Isaac suggested she stay and the two get married. Nicole being young and impulsive herself, agreed. When there families found out it was outrage on both sides of the Atlantic. It took a number of years before everything seemed to settle down. A year into their marriage, Isaac's father died and it was suddenly up to him to run the family business. He stepped into that roll and slowly over the years became exactly as his father was. It wasn't long after that they started a family, giving birth to their oldest son, Adrian and a year later, Asa.

Growing up Asa's life was fairly normal. He spent the school year in Spain and during holidays, the two boys spent time with their mother's family in the States. He graduated but never went to college. He never had much of an interest in school. It was during high school that began to notice other guys but he never acted on it and if anyone ever suspected he would deny it profusely and do whatever it took to prove them otherwise. There was only once after graduation that had actually attempted to embrace that side of himself but he could never shake the fear of other people finding out, namely his family. So he broke off anything he might have had and resorting to dating whatever pretty girl that took an interest but Asa never made a very good boyfriend he was terrible at pretending to be interested. One of those pretty girls took too much of an interest and did whatever she thought might recapture Asa's attention and when he got tired of her and tried to break things off she started to do some digging on Asa. Try to find something that would tie him to her that's when she discovered his secret and when Asa wouldn't have anything to do with her she went to his parents.

The fighting that ensued still remain some of Asa's darkest memories of his family. The only ones still on his side were his older brother and to some degree his mother. His father on the other was irate. He called Asa names that no father should ever call his son and in the end said he wished Asa had never been born. Asa left and went to stay with his mother's family in the States after that and he never bothered to speak with them again.

Once in Louisiana he moved into a small apartment and found a number of odd jobs the most interesting was the summer job he landed just before the tsunamis hit was helping out a sport fishing boat. The day the world ended he was trapped on a boat with a family, an engaged couple and the boat's captain. They drifted at sea for weeks before the island came into sight. The occupants of the small boat debated going to the island immediately but others felt the island could be dangerous and that it should be explored before the all departed but that didn't sit well with a few of the passengers and during the night someone set a fire on the boat in an attempt to get everyone to the island what wasn't anticipated was the explosion that followed. To Asa's knowledge he's the only one who survived.
