Hello there and welcome to the character log of Alice E. Bennet! For starters both Alice and Ginny are in the same house which gives them ample opportunity for the two to meet. Not to mention, Alice is just as curious as every other student about the new exchange students! Also, they both seem to have similar personalities, as in they both are friendly but both also have a more rash side to them. DAMOCLES BELBY While reading his applications, many ideas flew through my mind. The first was the connection held with their interest in music (both play piano, does Belby sing?). The other ideas I had included Belby helping Alice with potions (she's not the greatest, but wants to succeed) and a possible romantic one, after all it says Belby is 'oddly charming'. Not to mention Alice is a sucker for ambitious, intelligent men... TOM RIDDLE Here's an excerpt from Alice's history concerning Tom: "It was also during (her fifth) year that Alice began to separate herself from her brother, Caius, for reasons her brother deems ‘selfish’. It wasn’t the fact that he was beginning to spend less and less time with her or the fact that he was suddenly reminding her of her father; it was the fact he seemed to worship the ground that a certain student walked on. There was just something about Tom Riddle that Alice simply couldn’t ignore. It wasn’t his charms, his good looks, his Prefect badge, his academic success, nor the fact that he saved the school from a certain doom. It was much simpler than all of that. Alice’s intuition told her not to trust such a seemingly model student and she suspected it was his perfection that raised the red flag, but another part of her (one that refused to surface) was jealous. This perfect boy has come along a taken one of the few precious things Alice had left. One thing was for certain, she was losing her brother and she found herself throughly troubled by such a thought. " So, Alice is skeptical towards Tom and annoyed with him (and not to mention jealous). Perhaps Alice's brother seems to have something Tom finds useful (or might be useful for later) and he torn between allegiances. By allegiances, I mean Caius following Tom's ideals or his relationship with his little sister, which troubles him due to the fact that he made a promise to himself to protect her after their mother died years earlier. However, Caius is an ambitious young man, who has taking an interest in the dark arts and Tom's involvement and power has become irresistible to him. Possibly, Tom tries to persuade Alice's opinion and/or manipulates her and/or charms her (because she's like every other girl towards him)? Basically, Tom could use her as his plaything. Not to mention they are both members of the slug club and both prefects, which would give them opportunity to interact. SILVANUS KETTLEBURN Alice has had a crush on him since her third year. Any interaction would be quite fun (not to mention funny)! MINERVA McGONAGALL Alice is a prefect of Gryffindor and Minerva, Head Girl. This could lead to interaction and possible alliance/friendship? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My character log is different from the others I've looked at one here, but no worries, it is really quite simple! Yes, I know of her. She’s a pretty nice girl, I know her through Quidditch. She’s not a bad person, I’ve got nothing against her, she hasn’t done anything to make me dislike her aside from being placed into Gryffindor but not all of them are that bad, I suppose. ❞ Constance and Alice are both purebloods from wealthy and known families and with Constance’s father working in the Ministry, they would have run into each other once or twice in the past before Hogwarts. DAMOCLES and ALICE Damocles does sing. He does not, however, like to admit to it most of the time. However being musically inclined has led to singing being something he is quite capable of doing, though he does prefer instrumental pieces to ones with lyrics (at least in the sense of his having to sing them). I dare say that he is an absolutely awful tutor, he has very little patience for people who aren't good at potions so I suppose it would depend on whether 'not the greatest' actually means 'she isn't a genius at it' or 'she's actually kind of bad and Damocles wants her to stop pestering him about potions'. It is all about the little details.
I would say music first? He is oddly charming, I mostly say that because his popularity is always baffling to me, he is rather likable in spite of all the things he does that just really aren't likable at all. He does have a bit of a Gryffindor prejudice, JSYK so he will never talk to you in a large group of Gryffindors. Ever. MINERVA and ALICE Certainly Minerva knows all the other prefects, she's awesome like that and Gryffindors are the best. Quidditch is the best and all that. Minerva herself isn't much for being prim or proper (well she does have a strong sense of propriety but more in the 'she was raised by a minister' not that she's particularly ladylike) They both like animals though so they definitely have quite a few things in common that they could chat about. |

I am confused on this bit. Firstly, what man? Has Alice hit on this man before? And has Alice nearly killed Constance in Quidditch or hexed her before? Other then that, their history sounds believable. Anything else you'd like to plot?

Interhouse relations?! Oh, boy, I'm excited. Never in a million years would imagine selecting 'EXES'. WELL, to start off with, the history you have set up sounds fantastic! Here's my ideas:
• The two dated briefly last year (Alice in her fourth, Jerico in his fifth)? • Tom's influence over Jerico would no doubt have been a conflict in their relationship and I'm gonna bet that is was Alice who ended it. • Alice only broke the relationship because of Jerico's deep involvement with Tom. It was after Alice's question of what the two did on their 'dates', paired with Jerico's nonchalant, vague responses that Alice decided to end it (she never suspected romance between them but it rose a red flag for her). • I think it would interesting if Alice never truly got over him. Even though their relationship was brief, perhaps he had a lasting impression on her? An impression that grew over her separation from him during the summer of '43? • FINALLY, perhaps they could run into one another somewhere like the library? And when I say 'run into' I mean literally collide and fall? This could be their first encounter since the end of their relationship (at least one-on-one) and they end up talking? Sorry, if you're confused, there is just so many things running through my mind right now lol ⎪⎪ ALICE and DEMOCLES ⎪⎪
Well, by 'not the greatest', I implying she hasn't been able to receive a top mark in the class, but she lies just below top mark (so, excellent?). As for everything else, it was just ideas and since I'm not at all familiar with him, I'll leave the basic plotting to you (:

Simply because Alice is prim and proper doesn't necessarily mean all of her confidantes are as well haha In fact Alice likes having friends who are different then her. Perhaps they bond through Quidditch practices/matches and/or transfiguration (both are well-rounded on the subject, yes?).

DAM and ALICE He can probably tolerate her in potions then, though he does have two years on her which obviously puts her at a bit of a disadvantage. (I know, he's so pleasant about it!) Really though as for the plotting I'm fairly open to suggestions, though honestly with Dam it is sometimes better to just let him talk to a person to see if they get along at all before deciding where to go from there.
So the question really is what do you want to do? (Uh trying to plan what Dam does/wants often doesn't work unless I know someone really really well, jsyk) MINERVA and ALICE Minerva is the school prodigy at Transfiguration (yeah I made geniuses at particular subjects for some reason) and unlike Damocles is much better at tutoring, even if she is a bit of a hard task master. There should totally be some quidditch action around here, Gryffindor has most of a team . . . |

Okay, so I used those actually just to just give examples of why she’d dislike someone. I don’t think she’d dislike Alice, it was more so a “can you think of anything”? Etc. Sorry for confusing you. I do that to everyone at one point or another. <.< It’s a way I show affection, according to my mother.
That actually sounds perfect! It’d be nice for my weirdest character to actually have an established relationship that left marks. It’d also be another person added to the, “I like Jericho” list that is surprisingly short. |
