APPEARANCE
At five feet and five inches, Alice stands shorter than most of her peers, however, not the shortest. She has hopes that older age will grace her with an inch or two more before her development from child to woman ends.
As a child, her stature exaggerated her thin form, making her appear bony and frail. In the last year or two, her form has developed a more ‘womanly’ shape, one which Alice has learned to embrace with the grace of a young woman.
She was instructed at a young age to “sit up straight!” therefore, she has naturally perfect posture.
Her mother’s English/Irish blood blessed Alice with a fair complexion. Other features, namely her petite nose, light hair, and eyes are a result of her father’s Nordic ancestry.
With locks like the sun, Alice’s blonde tresses retain a golden glimmer, tumbling down to mid-back. Naturally wavy, her hair allows a versatility many girls envy, by which it can be styled either wavy, straight or curled.
Additional features include straight teeth and a small round scar near her left temple. This scar came to existence when her older brother convinced seven year old Alice that magic could make her fly, which promptly inspired Alice to jump from the second floor landing of their childhood treehouse only to realize that... she could not fly.
» note on makeup:
For everyday wear, Alice stays simple with powder, subtle brown/tan eyeshadow and rosy rouge. Every now and then, she switches her typical pink rogue for a warmer one that pairs nicely with red lipstick.
» note on wardrobe:
On weekdays, while schools in session, Alice stays in her student uniform. However, her uniform is that of a pureblood’s, or ‘old money’, meaning her white blouse is made of the finest cotton, her grey skirt of the warmest wool, her red and gold tie of the richest silk. Additives to this outfit include invisible pantyhose and freshly polished shoes.
On weekends, Alice tends to dress as any other young girl would or, should it be said, any young rich girl would. From blouses and skirts to printed dresses, Alice manages to capture everyday elegance.
As for special occasions... the words: luxurious, beautiful and polished befit Alice’s presentation.

personality
Being born into a society where wealth, status, and presentation was of utmost importance, taught Alice simple lessons, such as “sit up straight”, “do not speak out of turn”, and “never mention your Aunt, she’s a blood traitor and a traitor to us”. It was these ideals that led Alice to lead a cultured life, one expected of an heir to an aristocratic pureblood family.
After her mother’s death at the age of ten, Alice become introverted, hiding herself away. It wasn’t until she attended her first year at Hogwarts did she unhinge her timid bonds. It took time for her to adjust to being social again and her true traits were still buried deep inside. Now, nearly six years later, those traits are all that Alice is, her sometimes quiet nature lingers, but her detachment has long been six feet under.
During her first year at Hogwarts, Alice’s thirst for knowledge proved quite useful as she was introduced to her classes. Diving into her work, she craved only the company of her studies. It was this relationship that established her as an intellectual student.
Although she is of an old pureblood family line, her views of herself and her family are quite humble. She believes that she and her family live a privileged life and though other purebloods consider muggles inferior, and even ‘dirty’, Alice simply has no opinion. In her mind, muggles and mudbloods are just other people, people she doesn’t have to associate with, however, when the time arises she doesn’t sneer or turn her nose up, rather, she acts as though they are just another human being. As for her view on purebloods/half-bloods; it is not your blood statue that proves your worth, it is who you are what you do.
Within the last year, Alice has lost some of her quiet nature to a more stronger one. From time to time, she has been known to lose her temper, becoming quite a hotheaded and outspoken teenager. When offended or faced with the task of standing up for herself and/or others she is not afraid to speak up. It is at times like this, when her temper gets the best of her and the irrational things she says may not necessarily be true.
Since she was young, Alice was always brave, especially with her brother’s dares. This resulted in countless accidents and injuries throughout her childhood. This resilient nature helped Alice when she began her training for Quidditch in her second year at Hogwarts. Since then her bravery on the field has evolved to a more daring nature, bordering reckless. Ignoring the voiced concerns of her captain and fellow teammates, Alice shrugs them off, after all, no pain no game. The same can be said when she speaks up for herself or others. Her conversation and word choice, can become a bit... daring.
history
» immediate family members:
Silas Harrison Bennet • father
A man of immense power and riches is a force not to be reckoned with and few dare to cross this man. With a mind as irrational as his desires, Alice fears him and has yet to completely trust him. He has never done a thing other than treat Alice as his only daughter, however, Alice believes there to be sinister side of him, one she has no enthusiasm to meet. Sneaking into his office several nights in a row proved her inclinations true, for she found items she couldn’t discover names or purposes of and, if she did, they were as formidable as they looked. Not to mention receipts for a shop named Borgin & Burkes, one she later discovered was host for the items she found in her father’s office and one with a dark reputation. It scared her as a child and she hasn’t been able to shake the feeling since. Needless to say, she’ll avoid him whenever home and hides the fact she’s discovered his secret adorations... ones even darker than her suspicions.

Selling himself as useful proved difficult at first, but it seems he finally managed impress Riddle. Alice claims is nothing but a pathetic puppy who follows his master brainlessly. Caius heatedly disagrees.

Bryford Bennet • distant relative
A researcher and scientist of the magical arts, Bryford Bennet (c. 1800s) was one of the two accredited inventors of the bone regrowth potion, Skele-Grow.
Second-born child to Silas and Helene Bennet on the second of December, nineteen twenty seven, Alice Eleanor Bennet was a child born to enormous wealth. A wealth that established a relatively carefree childhood. A childhood brimmed with indulgences, prim manners and soirees that were as tedious as the conversations that came about at said events.
As a Bennet, Alice was endowed with privileges many would never have the pleasure of knowing, but with her entitlement came sacrifice. Her future decided, she could never truly be free. She had a name to uphold, a certain society to marry into, and a career that had to offer the highest title. She was never allowed to visit (or look) at what most pureblood families deemed ‘the lower; the lesser’- Muggles, as the rest of the wizarding world came to know them as.
Despite her isolation, Alice could not help but wonder what their world was like. How did they survive without magic? Were they really as hideous as she heard them described? Did they have brains as small and as simple as the stream’s common minnow? Much to her father’s dismay, Alice, at a very young age, began to question such things. It was her mother that came to Alice’s aid, answering her questions to the best of her knowledge... knowledge that would, in turn, destroy her.
» spring, 1937:
It was a scream that awoke ten year old Alice that tragic morning of April fourth. Minutes later, she discovered that a faithful house-elf servant had done the unthinkable. It was the house-elf that cooked the food, the house-elf that delivered a one-person breakfast, the house-elf that poisoned and killed Helene Ingram Bennet.
The events that followed were a blur to Alice. She remembers her shared grief with her father and her then twelve year old brother and her father’s determination to see the elf imprisoned in Azkaban. He believed death to be too swift a justice, too much a mercy. With the elf locked away for life and her mother’s grave mounted, Alice lost herself that Spring and it would be nearly another year before she would begin her recovery process.
The day Alice received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was a day both of anticipation and a certain dread. Alice would began one of many important life milestones... without her mother by her side. What was worst, she would have to face her peers, peers who had heard the rumors and had spread them like wildfire. Luckily, she had her older brother there to cushion the fear. It was in his arms that she feel asleep while on her first journey to Hogwarts, via the Hogwarts Express.
Her first year at Hogwarts was spent in solitude, enraptured in books, quills, and school work. She found company in her brother, her studies, and her pet owl, Kuell. It was with the owl her father give her as a birthday present that Alice grew most attached. They formed a bond that would last through many years.
In her second year, Alice tried out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team and was pleasantly surprised to find she made chaser. She treated learning Quidditch like any of her other studies and soon proved to be quite a fine player. Along with improving her gameplay, she was also confronted with the challenge of dealing with a newfound social life. It was only after she made a miraculous winning goal during a match against Slytherin did she revive her social life. Finding comfort in her friends, Alice reached new heights by her third year.
Through her third and fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Alice grew into herself, both physically and mentally.
It was her fourth year that the spot of seeker became available for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Alice promptly tried out and got the position. She still holds the position to this day.
It was also during this year that Alice began to separate herself from her brother, for reasons her brother deems ‘selfish’. It wasn’t the fact that he was beginning to spend less and less time with her or the fact that he was suddenly reminding her of her father; it was the fact he seemed to worship the ground that a certain student walked on.
There was just something about Tom Riddle that Alice simply couldn’t ignore. It wasn’t his charms, his good looks, his Prefect badge, his academic success, nor the fact that he saved the school from a certain doom. It was much simpler than all of that. Alice’s intuition told her not to trust such a seemingly model student and she suspected it was his perfection that raised the red flag, but another part of her (one that refused to surface) was jealous. This perfect boy has come along a taken one of the few precious things Alice had left. One thing was for certain, she was losing her brother and she found herself throughly troubled by such a thought.
As her fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry begins and her brother’s allegiances shifting, Alice can feel her relationship with her brother straining, as if each thread is being pulled thinner and thinner. The question is, can she pull him back?
» the truth of Helene’s death:
Unbeknownst to Alice, her brother, and all. . .
It was Silas who murdered his wife in cold blood. His reasoning was due to the fact Helene had started and held onto a purely platonic affair with a muggle man for years. Silas grew troubled, and even obsessed, with their relationship, scouring his wife’s things to read the letters they exchanged. It was when he discovered a certain letter where Helene was apparently going to take Alice along with her the next time she met up with the man. Silas was unable to bear having a wife who associated herself so deeply to the very thing he and his family for generations had fought against and having the audacity to bring his children into such filth. Driven by irrationality and complete fury (jealousy, too, even though he would deny it), Silas poisoned her food and framed a house elf on his treachery.
