Well, I think they're bugs.

But aside from that?

They don't have magic, and they can't reproduce with another race... due to the magicless thing. Not that either party would want to.

They also are atheistic... which has had an effect on the Tolpish... who seem to be stuck around the Knarl.

Also, the "K" is silent.

Cannibals if the thing is already dead. I think. They eat anything.

So, yeah, Bugs of some kind. Possibly ants or termites. Or something like that.

Knarl eat anything that's dead, they don't kill each other for food but have no problem with eating their dead.

Book 1 of Harkovast is nearly over...

The Knarl will feature in Book 2.

Goodie!

Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to jump to the "bug conclusion". Just because, well, those demon things were kinda buggish, so that niche is filled. Hmm. Still thinking bugs though, but I'll understand if I'm wrong and won't believe Hark changed everything just to spite me.

He wouldn't... would he?

Spiders? Chupacabras? Kelpies?

I'm just going to get everything possible out there in the vague chance that I'm right.
