Like why the heck he carries an actual sword, when he can just summon one?

or why the black lizard guy thought Muir was screwing with his head when giving him a fair fight,

I think it may have something to do with the messed up side of his face. I think he used to be someone bad at some point, maybe an Evil but not likely I think

--------------------
well damn I didn't think it would kill him just scare him away.
you threw an axe at his head.
how was I to know I had such a good arm and aim?
he was three feet in front of you.
oh details, details.

He wasn't an Evil, for sure. He was actively fighting the West during the War, and was actually responsible for killing The Machine, the Evil of Technology at the time of the War.

like I said I thought it was very unlikely.

but still I think the Muir we see now in the comic is not always this way

I'm pretty sure there is more to him, you're probably right.

We do know that he was part of some multi-national group of adventurers or mercenaries, that he had a brother, and that Muir might be the only survivor of that group after they were killed off by the forces of the West (and possibly after some of them turned against each other).

We know that Wren-Yin was killed. Muir killed Choi-Leng. No idea what happened to Parrin (Muir's brother). But we do know that Craggarg survived to return to his homeland and get captured by the Knarl.
