Hoo boy. Going into this battle, I didn't know what to expect from Bowserking. The only mention of his battle prowess that I ever heard was when Tenchi or somebody asked how his match with Caleb had gone, which was about a year or so ago. Bowser replied, "Caleb kicked my butt," to which Caleb said, "If you call having three Pokemon left kicking your butt," to which Bowser responded, "Yes."
So we began the battle. This was moments before I was leaving on vacation, so we agreed to make the battle a single match, winner take all. I lead with Gallade equipped with Life Orb in preparation against whatever strong Pokemon he might lead with. He lead with Infernape. I chose Psycho Cut as my command, but Bowser withdrew his Infernape and replaced it with Luxray. Psycho Cut took out half of Luxray's health. The next turn, Glade outsped Luxray and hit it with another Psycho Cut, knocking it out. Bowserking then sent in Drifblim, probably hoping the double-type advantage would help him out. Which was well and good except that my Gallade knew Night Slash. Glade took out Drifblim in two turns, but suffered a Shadow Ball attack in the process. That coupled with the damage taken from Life Orb, and Glade was at the brink of health. Then Bowser sent Infernape back in. I was going to try a Psycho Cut on it again, but Infernape outsped Glade with Flamethrower and KO'd him. Then I sent in Phione. Bowserking quickly withdrew Infernape and sent out Chimecho. Not the best counter for Phione, but whatever. I used Surf and Surf some more, while Chimecho used Extrasensory and Confusion (why does he have both of those attacks together?). Phione took out Chimecho without much trouble. Then Bowser sent in Gastrodon. Luckily, I had taught Phione Grass Knot, which was able to KO the Water-and-Ground type in a few turns. Then there was Bastiodon. Even though Phione wasn't starving for health, I decided to use Rest to take advantage of the rain going on at the time. Unfortunately, the rain stopped that turn, and Phione was left sleeping while Bastiodon first used Protect, then Ancientpower and Rock Slide, which really didn't do that much damage. When Phione woke up, a quick Surf took out Bastiodon in one hit. Bowserking was left with only one Pokemon: Infernape. Since Phione obviously had the advantage, and I still had four other Pokemon in case by some miracle Infernape took out Phione, I pretty much had the battle in the bag. Before the next turn commenced, though, a communication error occurred. When I asked Bowser via chatbox if he had disconnected, he said no. I decided to blame it on wifi (though my sister had other ideas) and we were at a dilemma as for how to proceed. I decided that it would be postponed until after I got back from the trip, and if by some chance I couldn't find Bowserking by a certain time, then we would count the match as a win for me. Bowserking was very nonchalant about the whole deal, saying stuff like, "Whatever you say is fine by me." I get the feeling from his speech and Pokemon team that he's not as serious about Pokemon training as the rest of us... Anyway, I haven't had the opportunity to battle him since. -------------------- |
