Physical Description: 100+ Words

Tim Sauter is the little kid in the hallways who you can't help but smile when you see. His features by themselves, however, are nothing really special. He is the tiniest bit smaller than the rest of his peers and slightly scrawny as well—a little shrimp. However, Tim makes up for his slightly higher voice (because some of his friends are under going—what was it—poo-bear-tee, he thinks) and size with a large presence. You can hear him piping out his opinions all of the time, and his delighted laugh is always ringing down the hallway.

He has lost (most of) the baby fat, but some roundness is markedly there in his cheeks, lending him a sweet and babyish look. Of course, Tim is at the age where he does not want to be a baby anymore. He also has large blue eyes that are remarkably expressive—dancing with mischief, wide and fearful, shimmering with what may be tears. He is still a child yet—he does not know how to hide his emotions and doesn’t really think to. Tim always has a smile on his face, whether it be a dimpled sweet one or a boyish grin. He seems constantly cheerful. True, it makes him look more childish than his classmates, but there has been many a time when a round face and forget-me-not eyes has earned him out of detention.

Personality: 150+ Words

Optimistic. Tim always has a smile on his face as if it were put there with a Permanent Sticking Charm. The tone of his voice is nearly always light and pleasant, and he seems to have boundless energy. When life has got his friend’s down, he reminds them that luck does have the heads side of the Galleon. When life gives him lemons, he’ll use the juice to write a secret code that can only be seen when the paper is heated over a flame (one of his favorite things to do is to make secret codes).

Imaginative. The child with the runaway imagination that makes the smallest of shadows into a manticore and the tiniest of incidents into a tall tale full of dragons and kelpies and all sorts of beasts. He is someone to make a game out of nothing, and even if people are beginning to dismiss his “pretends”, it’s something he can’t help but do.

Enthusiastic. Everything that Tim does is with gusto. His magical talent is nothing special, but his effort makes even the strictest of teachers break a little. Sometimes he tries so hard that when he Levitates something, it’ll shoot up in the air and crash through a window, that sort of thing. Afterwards he has such a sheepish smile on his face that everyone has to laugh along with him. He is so eager to do things that he often blunders it much to the annoyance of everyone. Afterwards he tries so hard to make up for his mistake that he always earns a grudging forgiveness. Never will you meet a boy so full of love of life.

Talkative. The kid who will yap your ear off. It makes people wonder what makes him tick, and what they have to do to make this chatterbox stop. Tim always has a question to ask of his professors or his elders, and always a story to tell to everyone else. During the awkward moments he’s the one to crack the lame joke, but he does it in such a way that you can’t help but laugh though nothing is particularly funny. Though he has had to learn the value of keeping a secret before, sometimes he can’t help but accidentally tell people’s secrets. This is not out of malice, but out of carelessness. Tim often doesn’t realize the line where discretion must be used.

Mischievous. Not devious, mind, but yes, quite mischievous. Tim would not be the type to talk back to a teacher, but he would be the one dueling with fake wands in the back. Sure he won’t go off and taunt Myrtle, but he will egg on Peeves every once in a while. Something in his personality means that he’s always up for “a bit of fun”, or a prank. There has to be that tiny element of danger in it, where he may or may not get caught. That is part of the reason why he wants to be part of his brother’s group—the prospect of a secret organization excites him.

Innocent. But not as much as one would think. Though Tim has a lot to learn about life, he knows far more than people give him credit for. Although he is not at all the type to fade into the background, one would be surprised how much people will spill in the presence of a little kid who doesn’t know anything.

History: 100+ Words
The youngest child of the family, Tim was always the baby. His older son Jay, though exhibiting many qualities admirable in a son, was worryingly rebellious and obstinate concerning the caste system. Tim’s father was always afraid that he would not do good enough of a job on the youngest. This meant that Tim always got attention when he wanted it.

Except, of course, from his older brother. True they got along well enough, but Jay never really catered to Tim’s needs the way others did. This meant that Tim idolized Jay, following him around, imitating him, doing whatever he did. This was, of course, quite irritating, but even to this day, Tim still looks up to Jay.

Tim was a sweet little boy; perhaps he didn’t exude the strong leadership qualities that his older brother did, or the intelligence of his sister, but he was good-hearted through it all. Alice Penelle was very worried, however, at her son's blatant prejudice against those with lesser blood, a view so radically different from his brother's. However, though she attempted several times to change her youngest'se way of thinking, she did not speak to her husband about her views or worries. The one time that she did, she knew it was futile. She feared and still does to this day that Tim will grow up to be a carbon copy of his father.

At Hogwarts, Tim was drawn into practically another world, and one where he wasn’t always the center of attention. He had to tend and fend for himself. Though this was a rather jarring experience at first, with the guidance of his siblings, he eventually grew self-sufficient.

Unfortunately, this rather sociable little boy was unable to get over his prejudice against Mudbloods and Part-Bloods. Though he didn't shotu it from the turrets, it was plain through his avoiding socializing or even speaking to them that he too believed that they were the ones who were making magic die out.

He tried out for the Quidditch Team this second year. Though there were people who flew better than him, his infectious enthusiasm (as well as the fact that those people were nearly always busy with something) won him a place. The other members look down on him because he is by far the youngest, as well as the scrawniest little thing to wield a bat that they have ever seen. Besides, he was far too, well, nice to pound huge iron balls at people. He still has to prove himself to his peers, but slowly he is gaining respect.

However, Tim was never quite accepted by any of his pure-blood peers either. They looked down on him and even picked on him for being in Gryffindor rather than in Slytherin, and he found himself rejected by them as well. In Quidditch he was always the player targeted for being a traitor to his blood. Nursing his wounds gotten from dozens of Bludgers being batted his way that he couldn't fend off, a Mudblood boy in his dorm wordlessly handed him a bruise cream.

Tim didn't use it and didn't even acknowledge the giver. The other boy shrugged and left it on Tim's bedside table. That night, Tim paid for his pride and early in the morning (or very, very, late at night) decided to apply the cream. After his purple bruises slowly began to fade, he still lay awake. Why had the boy offered him anything? Tim had never treated him with anything but curtness, even outright ignoring him. It was because of purebloods such as Tim that the other boy would need a bruise cream in the first place.

In the morning, Tim awkwardly but sincerely thanked the other boy and introduced himself. The two walked down to breakfast together, a first for both of them.

Thus began an odd ritual of a friendship between them. This would always begin again whenever he was injured. Eventually, Tim bought his own supply and they both helped out one another. Eventually they have grown to be friends. Tim still secretly believes his friend is beneath him, but he does believe now that there is more to these part-bloods than he thinks.

Likes:

-Watching the clouds. He makes pictures with them and stories as well, though more often than not he dozes off. Tim tends to do this during History of Magic.
-Making up secret codes. Tim is getting adept at creating them. He’s far past the inverted alphabet and the folded creases. It’s becoming a bit of a challenge even for his older sister to crack them.
-To venture into the Room of Requirement and play pretend. You can get the most amazing stuff down there. Why, one time…
-Playing Quidditch. Sure the rest of the team doesn’t take him seriously, but he’ll show them who can wield a bat!

Dislikes:
-Getting detentions without his friends. Scrubbing out bedpans is never fun, but it is so much better when you have someone with you.
-Losing a Quidditch game. Tim is not bloodthirsty competitive, but he always feels as though he has let down his teammates by losing the game.
-When he fights with his brother Jay. Tim thinks the world of him.
-Being stifled under blankets. It reminds him too much of a Lethifold. He will snuggle under the covers on a cold day, but they cannot be over his head. Ever.

Fears:

-That a Bludger will hit and seriously hurt someone, and that he could have done something to prevent it. The doubts of the rest of the time have sunk into his indomitable personality, just a little bit, and sometimes he dreams that happens. Other times he’s afraid he’ll hurt someone on the opposing team very badly.
-That his brother’s and his secret organization (for that’s what he thinks of it as) will be found out and his brother will be expelled. That fear has been instilled in him after the “Elwood Incident” and he takes it seriously. Though not that seriously. After all, it is a game, right?
-That he will be smothered by a Lethifold. Tim can stand small spaces, but the worst scares of his life have been when his friends thought it amusing to move a cloak like the stealthy creature, poised to attack. Thus he has kept on trying to conjure a Patronus. Though he is a bit more talented than the rest in his year, needless to say, he is not successful.

Goals:

-To conjure a Patronus. The Lethifold fear shall be conquered!
-To become the Captain of the Quidditch Team. All of those Gryffindors muttering about losses will eat their words then.
-That he will be like his brother. Not exactly like Jay, mind, but near enough. He wants to be his brother’s equal.

Favorite Spell and Why: Let's be creative--no Unforgivables
Summoning Charms. Mind you he isn’t good at them at all, but he has succeeded once or twice. Tim is quite proud of his accomplishment and is always trying to use the spell.

Sample RP: 150+ words; if taken from another site, please give site name and character name. (Infamy and Entropy, Amaranta Neri)

Ah, what a beautiful day it was outside! The sky was a stark blue that seemed to have endless possibilities, like a blank canvas.

Especially since the canvas of her day was uncluttered by the most horrible puce-colored paint in the world (for that was what she liked to think of it as), History of the Dark Reign. What a dull, boring, class. Did they think that by drilling the same words into their skulls all of the time that the students would become automatons?

As a delicious breeze touseled her short black hair, Ama could not resist a triumphant "Yes!" as she threw her head back. True she would get in trouble if she were caught cutting classes, "if" being the operative word. The professor never seemed to emerge from the podium, so it was doubtful that he would notice her presence (or lack thereof), and if he did, he would not know her name.

She was heading out towards the only pretty part of Maltalvia (pretty being a relative term, and being used in the loosest sense of the word) when she stopped short in her tracks, the sunny smile slowly fading from her face.

One of her best friends in the world, too, seemed to be skipping classes. That was not wholly atypical. But this was Giovanni Lombardi, and there was no lopsided grin on his face. Instead, he looked pensive, even unhappy.

Instantly sombered, she approached him slowly before sitting down beside him,

"Penny for your thoughts, Gio?" she asked softly.

I'd accept this in a heartbeat if Tim wasn't going to be so plot-important.

My big problem here is that I don't think you grasped the Sauter family dynamic. The kids are nice because of their mother, who is a Penelle. Their father is a run-of-the-mill pro-blood pureblood, and by his standards, Jay would not have turned out "well"--a son heading up a resistance would have been a disaster (that's why no one knows). Because Tim got more attention from his father, he is going to be less immediately sympathetic to the non-purebloods.

I'd suggest you check out Jay's and Joy's family histories, also, so you can get the feel for their view on Tim.

Any questions, don't hesitate to PM and ask.

I was going to wait for Erin to okay this, as she's more knowledgable on how the canon characters should act, but this looks great to me!

Accepted. I don't think that there will be any more requested changes, but be open to some if the need arises. Tim is a main plot sortof guy, so we'd like him to play an important role, as I'm sure you know.
