The title pretty much sums it all up. Enjoy. ^^
The Faulty Fairy The Faulty Fairy is not your average fairy Her granted wishes coming true is not ordinary. Wish for more fame, You’ll get enveloped in flames. Wish for more food, You’ll always be in a bad mood. Wish for a bed, You’ll never be fed. Wish for a pot of flowers, You’ll get crabgrass in the shower. Wish for more money, You’ll get bee-infested honey. Wish for a nicer home, You’ll read the end of this poem. (Remember, kids, never ask anything of the Faulty Fairy.) The Plight of the Perfect-Looking Rose This is a tale of the Faulty Fairy (By the way, her real name is Sairy) Once the Faulty Fairy was strolling Through a beautiful garden Doing things like expanding the leaves, or Making roots harden. Then she came upon a perfect-looking rose Said the fairy, “I’ll give it a blessing!” What the blessing should give the rose The Faulty Fairy was guessing. She decided to give it luck So she blessed the rose, but that went terribly wrong The rose was now an unsightly mushroom But the oblivious fairy walked off, humming a song. The former rose did not like this change It remarked, “This is quite deranged!” But the former rose decided to be cheerful The above complaint was the only one of its kind One day the positive patience paid off; the fungus found a glowing twig That undid the wish; what an amazing find! So this ought to tell you, The Faulty Fairy’s wishes’ results often became as messy as goo. (I admire the rose's patience.) The Gray Tabby Cat There once was a gray tabby cat Who longed for golden fur One day while running he crashed into the Faulty Fairy And exclaimed furiously, “Grr!” The Faulty Fairy smiled and asked, “What is it that you desire?” Replied the cat, “I wish for golden fur That in the sun gleams like fire.” The Faulty Fairy ordered him to close his eyes And she tapped her wand on his head When the cat opened his eyes, he was a mangy rat He wailed, “Oh, I wish I was dead!” The Faulty Fairy overheard this, So she came over and granted that wish Then the cat was back to his old self His tail gave a delighted swish. The oblivious fairy smiled again and asked, “Is there anything else you need?’ Replied the cat, “No, I’m quite satisfied.” And satisfied he was indeed. And so the moral of this story is: Be grateful for what you have, so ‘tis. Not all of my poems are going to be about the Faulty Fairy and her victims, btw. |
