Avaleia walked through the near deserted street. She grinned, even into the wee hours of the morning the temperature was one of extreme heat.

Lifting the bottle she held in her hand to her lips she took a long drink. The tequila made her eyes water slightly, but the warm feeling in the pit of her stomach made it all worthwhile. Her step was slightly off but she didn't care. She had had fun here today and a few sips of the potent beverage were her reward.

She had managed to put the first pieces of her plan into effect today. A plan that would one day pay off huge benefits, to not just her but to her fellow demons.

As she wandered through the street, a small neon sign caught her eye.

Tattoos

She laughed and turned to head towards it. Why not mark the occasion with a pretty little rose or something?

Sheila was just about to turn in for the night. She hadn't fed yet, but she had managed to fill her pockets and that was almost as good.

She walked down the dark streets, heading inland toward the buildings that had basements. Lost in thoughts, she wandered past the cheap tourist bars, the sting of alcoholic stench hit her nose as she passed.

She felt a familiar presence that caused her to look up and sharpen her vision. Down the road, showered in the reddish hue of neon lights, she spotted her long time friend and one time ship mate.

She snuck up behind her friend with preternatural speed, and with the quietest voice she could muster, she sang:

"Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high,"

Avaleia paused with her hand on the door to the small tattoo parlour, the faintest sound carried to her on the warm breeze.

"Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high,"

A broad smile washed over her face as she turned to the sound. She would know that voice anywhere, no matter how quiet it was. She looked down the dark streets to see her old friend and Captain, Sheila standing at the other end.

"Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die." She belted out the song with gusto, raising her bottle in toast to her friend as she sauntered down the street towards her.

"Cap'n, its been a lifetime. Well not one of ours, but one of theirs." She grinned as she gestured to a drunk man staggering down the dark alley.

"What brings you to Tijuana?"

"Ahoy, me hearty! I could ask the same thing. There's been some activity here that I wanted to check out. I should have known you would at least be somewhere around." Sheila said as she clapped her friend on the back.
"I see you're choice in hosts hasn't changed much in the past 80 years. What has my favorite first mate been up to? Certainly not maneuvering ships around the Caribbean Sea anymore, I would imagine."
Sheila smiled as she looked over her friend. It was uncanny how close this host resembled the one whom Avaleia had been occupying then the women first met. The thought brought a rush of fond memories back for Sheila, the days of piracy where the two women were feared by even the most dangerous foes.

A wicked little grin washed over Avaleia's face as she listened to her old captain talk. Their days together on the ship were some of Avaleia's fondest. She and Sheila had ruled the seas.

A chuckle escaped her as Sheila mentioned her body, she was right, Avaleia always chose similar hosts.

"It's always fun to watch the men scurry around like rats, when I bat my eyelashes at them to reveal the shiny black eyes. They seem to think me a helpless little wench then I show my true colours and watch them run. Their terror and surprise amuse me to no end." She couldn't help but chuckle slightly. She never harmed them unless she needed to, but that didn't mean she couldn't have a little fun with them first.

"I've only been in town for a few days and I was planning on heading out tomorrow but I may just stick around a little while longer, we could catch up on the past... 80 years? Has it really been that long? We are getting old, Cap'n." She said with a little gleam in her eye. "But we look damn good."

"Speak for yourself, darling. I'm still just a baby by vampire standards." Sheila smiled, revealing her fangs. "But I do agree, we look damn good. I have appropriated a place inland a bit. I wish I could be by the water, but there are no basements on the beach. How about we head to my place to catch up?" Sheila suggested.
She could feel the sun starting to sting a little bit on her skin, which meant that dawn was approaching. No matter what their station in life, Sheila could not reveal weakness to her first mate, even if it was common knowledge like a deadly sun burn.
"What do you say?" She asked. Although she left it open for Avaleia to say no, but ordering her to comply with her eyes.

Avaleia nodded and the two women strolled through the quiet streets. She held a deep respect for the woman at her side, but she was no longer the Sheila's first mate. She was eager to catch up with her friend , but she also wanted Sheila to be aware of the fact that she was no one's first mate anymore. She was the captain of her own fate now.

"Don't feel like laying on the beach and soaking up a few rays?" She asked with a smart ass grin.

She passed the bottle of tequila to Sheila and asked, "So, the Caribbean is safe as of late, so what have you been up to? Tell me the tales of your adventures." She said with a chuckle. One of her favourite things about Sheila was her ability to have fun and create mischief. An ability that Avaleia shared and admired in her friend.

Sheila took a swig from the bottle, the strong liquor stinging her heightened sense of taste.
"I'll take a pass on the sunbathing for now, thank you." She said curtly, still smiling. "I've been having a lot of fun lately. I lived with Faolan and Kokumo for a while. We were in New York, that is a city I can lose myself in. The blood flows freely, and freak accidents aren't even noticed!" Sheila started to unwind a little bit.
"I've learned to use a new tool as well. Internet dating sites are great to find victims. My god, those men are desperate." Sheila laughed.
"Do you have a computer? I can't live without mine! I don't have to go to hock shops anymore, online auctions have netted me thousands of dollars." Sheila started to prattle, and then stopped herself. She had become a computer geek in the past decade, and she knew that most supernaturals frowned on using computers.
She waited patiently and gauged her friend's reaction.

"Computers?" Avaleia wasn't in the least surprised. The information super highway was a place that you could find anything and anyone. Sheila's methods were always evolving and as ever changing as the seasons.

"I figured you would be caught up in that. Gotta say, its smart. You can do a lot of work during the daylight hours and still have plenty of time to enjoy the night life." Avaleia grinned approvingly. "I always pegged you as one of us who'd take advantage of the internet. I, myself am computer illiterate. They always seem to freeze up when I touch them. Cause a bit of mayhem on the stock market in 1987 last time I touched a computer." She laughed. She'd only ever used them a few times and it never ended well.

"I've stuck with the more traditional methods myself, you know, just wreaking as much havoc on the world as I can."

"You caused that crash? The recession in the 90's? Bravo, my friend!" Sheila applauded. Aveleia's stories were always fun. Screwing with people was a chaos demon's job, and Sheila loved it.
They began the trek up the steep slope to the more affluent neighborhoods lined with beautiful hacienda's interspersed with diamond rated hotels, the Tijuana that Sheila was accustomed to.
"Ah, here we are." She said, gesturing to one of the more spacious houses.
"I know, I don't need it, but the guy who 'gave' it to me didn't need that much room either. Type AB, it's like nectar from the gods." Sheila said, her eyes rolling back with rapture just remembering the taste of the blood.

Avaleia laughed, Sheila always stayed in the lap of luxury. Her benefactors were usually upscale gentlemen with impeccable tastes.

She walked inside, just behind Sheila and set the tequila bottle on a table inside the enormous front hallway. She took in her surroundings and grinned to Sheila.

"Not bad for an old pirate," She winked. As if no time had passed between them, Avaleia made herself at home in Sheila's hacienda. She made her way to the huge kitchen and started a pot of coffee. The tequila had left a bad taste in her mouth and she was in need of a big cup of caffeine.

"So how are Fallon and Kokumo doing? I haven't seen them since the 70's. And I think they may have gotten a bad hippy or something then. They were a little out of it."

"Oh, Faolan went back to Scotland to visit Fiona. Apparently she went crazy or something." Sheila was nonchalant about Fiona, the woman who she liked least in the world. "She wouldn't have Kokumo in the castle, you should have heard her, it was hillarious. I thought Koke was going kill her at one point. Ah, Fiona, may you rot in hell."
Sheila flopped into the large rattan chair and watched Avaleia fuss around int he kitchen.
"Alim might be coming soon, he said he had some sort of grimoire from the 1600's, maybe you will want to have a look." Sheila offered, knowing her friends fondness for releasing those of her own kind. "I could call Kokumo to come, she's probably spinning her wheels all alone in New York."

Avaleia grinned at the mention of inviting Koke to visit them. She always held a fondness for the Jamaican vampire. It had been Kokumo who had raised Avaleia from the depths of hell. An act that Avaleia was eternally grateful for.

"Actually, what do you think of heading with me to Las Vegas? That's a city that I can truly let loose in. Its almost too easy to create chaos there." Avaleia said as she handed Sheila a steaming cup of coffee as she sit on the chair beside the vampire.

"Think of the fun we could have. Its Sin City after all." She said with an evil grin.

Sheila chuckled as she inhaled the smell of the freshly brewed coffee. She wasn't the biggest fan of drinking coffee, but she loved the smell.
"I could be convinced to go back to the desert, especially if there is some chaos to be witnessed." she winked at her friend.
"I'll call up Alim and Koke after I've slept, they are probably asleep already. Oh, Avaleia, this is going to be fun!"
Sheila had grand visions of the demon arriving on the strip and unadulterated insanity ensuing. She pictured power outages, security camera malfunctions, it would be an amazing experience, and she was all for it.
