Before you get started with the applications and all that riff-raff, we'd like to get you to know a few rules. Yeah, we know: it sucks. But we'll try to make it nice and easy so you can breeze on through to the Doctor Who awesomeness. APPLYING & SIGNING UP Take My Hand is a account-per-character roleplay. This means that you apply with your characters name with proper punctuation and caps and such (ex: The Doctor, Amanda Cunningham) and not ALL CAPS or withnospaces (ex: THE DOCTOR or amandacunningham). That's a no-no. After you've applied, we're gonna ask you to make an application for your character. Do your best, think about the character. You're gonna be playing them! Make their lives your creation and make them well. We're gonna ask that you post it in this place if it is complete and this one if you've been working on it, but just aren't done yet. This keeps our site nice and clean! Also, we'd like to ask that you only tell us once every three days to check up on your application and to only do so when it is complete. We'll check it up as soon as possible and leave a critic or an acceptance! C-BOX RULES Basically, we love the c-box. It does such nice and pretty things like keep us all in touch. In spite of this, there are things that make it a not-so-nice place to be, such as CONSTANT CAPS or spamming with the same thing over and over and over (ex: badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, MUSHROOM, MUSHROOM.) Also, advertising by guests on the c-box? Big no-no. That makes sad manatees and Lena hates it when manatees are sad. Cursing overly in the c-box? No-no. Questions from guests? Fine. Being overtly wacky, talking of penguins in the summertime cursing their cell phone reception and random Neil Gaiman jokes? Yes, please and thank you! POSTING This is where it gets fun. You've just gotten your app accepted and you are now basically allowed to post anywhere your little heart desires. Until then, we must ask that you keep to the applications area and not post in anything, OOC or otherwise. If you have a question and have joined the site under a user name, we would like to ask you to PM a staff member your questions rather than posting them on the site itself. Other than that, there is no true post limit. The only thing we have here is that we want at least a paragraph (6-8 sentences) or two. No one-liners because, truthfully, I've never seen a good one-liner that actually gave the person something to reply to. A grand post makes someone else want to make a grand post until, with your help, everyone is making grand posts! On that note, if the person who replied to you has too long a post, stating that it is 'too long' and that 'you won't read it' is kinda-sorta rude (ties into being a good person, you know?) so grow a pair and read it. Reading is fun. Part of writing and all . . . And that's why you're here. So yeah. CHARACTERS Folks, there is currently a three character limit with a 16 IC post between each one. Fair enough, right? But we may just budge a bit later on, so don't digress! In the meantime, we have tons of amazing famazing canons from both the show and the freaking awesome original plot. Here's the deal. Go to a pub, look around. Is everyone there bisexual? Is everyone there straight? What about homosexual? Exactly. In the real world, everyone isn't gay or straight or bi, so let's try not to make ANY of that a truth here. Diversity = amazing. If you are playing a canon, we'd like to ask if you could make your canon canon. By this, we mean no making Donna enjoy tea parties and pretty skirts (unless it's a secret pleasure that, knowing her, she's never ever discuss among others). Let the horndog canons be horndogs and the innocent remain innocent in your app writing (though they can happily turn non-innocent/tainted through the roleplay). Basically: play 'em right and write the app right. We want the best from you, folks and we won't settle for less. Okay guys and gals of TMH, here's the dealio: We allow original Time Lords and Ladies of Gallifrey. It had to happen to one board, why not be us? But we warn you: we're gonna be shockingly strict, amazingly paranoid and wonderfully inquisitive in every aspect. We're gonna want knowledge of the canon here, dudes. The Time War was a pretty big deal. What, with the wiping out of the entire planet of Gallifrey and all (SPOILER FROM SOMETHING THAT NEVER HAPPENED IN THE SHOW ITSELF!). So we're gonna want to, you know, know why they are still alive. Fob watches will need a heck of a lot of explaining for them to work and we're gonna want sparkle, dazzle and basically an amazing application from these folks who choose to take on the most powerful lords of time. Have fun. CONDUCT This board is rated PG-13 for your enjoyment and anything more violent/sexy/fun than that should have a warning in the topic title or subtitle and at the beginning of the first post. As for actual 'conduct', we like nice people and aren't fond of the mean ones. This means, basically, don't be a jerk. Since we know that all of you are nice people, we don't expect needing to explain, but pretty much: keep IC drama IC and don't get in any OOC drama. PM an admin if someone is harassing you. ADVERTISING Keep it where it belongs. We'll affiliate, absolutely. Please keep it out of the c-box and out of the IC and OOC boards, strictly to the advertising boards. We're guest friendly in our advertising thread, so no need to join just to PM our members with blatant screaming ads and definitely no need to inform us of our needing to enhance our male anatomy.
