This doesn't fit 100% into the other stories forum since it only features one of the TB characters ^^'

This is the WIP story I created Weiss Theon for. It's set on a different track than TB, as you'll clearly see if you so choose to read it biggrin.gif *hint hint* lol
Well, it's not very long yet, the chapters are short, and not too hard to read. I'm trying to avoid overkilling with grandiloquence these days. You'll also notice Weiss is more somber and less outwardly energetic than his forum counterpart. That's mainly because he actually remembers most of his short life.
As it's a WIP, I'll post new segments as they're finished. Comments may be added in here, but I'm considering adding a whole other thread for comments to avoid "spam", though this board is 'sane' enough that it probably won't be necessary. XD

Anyways, let's begin.

WHITE CROSS CHRONICLES - Aaron Theos Revamp - as of 7-7-06 to ?-?-??

Enter WEISS.
((Not spelled “weiß”, I know. “Weiss” means “knows”, whereas “weiß” means “white”. Weiss is not meant to be named “weiß”.
Basically, the story is “White Cross Chronicles” and his name is “Knows”, as in “knows about”, “knows of”, “has a conscious acknowledgment of”...etc. Unfortunately, weiß can -also- be spelled “weiss”. Confusing, no? I’ll stick to Weiss being “knows” and weiß being “white”, for the reader’s sake.
Oh, did I mention, kreuz can also be spelled “krüz”? Hooray for German.))

WEISS’ STATISTICS:
Age - Appears 20.
Height - About 5 feet, 5 inches.
Weight - About 120 pounds.
Eye Color - Silver-Blue
Hair Color - White/Silver
Skin Tone - Pale Olive
Wing Color - White/Silver
Status - Angel-in-Training
Original Name: Aaron S. Theos.
Full given name: Weiss Theon (Literally, “Knows of God”, more or less.)
Later Accessories: White arm warmers to replace his black ones. Faded blue Converse shoes to replace his black ones.

Weiss awakens in a large, bright, empty room with white walls, floor, and ceiling.
He is sore, and a little disoriented, but intensely aware of his unusual surroundings.
Two small wings are budding from his back, between his shoulders. They are like a young bird’s wings...and they are white with silvery edges.
He wears unusual clothing for the typical image of what we consider an angel...
Dark blue jeans...a black tank top...and black Converse shoes. Around his forehead is tied a black bandana, and on his hands are arm warmers - they are fingerless, so he can grip things better.
His eyes are bright, wide, and curious. He wonders where he is; what sort of place this could be.
His mouth is hiding a smile. It is hidden behind the gaping jaw that reflects the confusion of thought at this current moment. He is usually smiling. He will smile again, soon.
He has not always been known as Weiss.
He once was Aaron Theos, on Earth.
He had dark gray hair that shone with a dull silver hue in even the dimmest light.
His eyes had been darker then. Not like they were now. He had not often smiled then, either.
Things had been bad then. Terrible, one might hazard to say.
It had been so much a bad thing, in fact, that it had killed him.

What with the current state of this young man, you would not guess he could have endured such a tragic background story. Yet, it did happen, and now it had passed. He had to move on.
But...to where?

Memories, though dim and fading fast, distracted Weiss now and again in spite of how intriguing his situation was.

Enter FREUNDLICHER.
((Not a lot to say about him. He appears young -in spite of his tall stature- but knows much about the daily routine of the angels and their duties and schedules. He serves as a teacher and confidant to Weiss.))

FREUNDLICHER’S STATISTICS:
Age - Appears 17.
Height - About 6 feet, 0 inches.
Weight - About 190 pounds.
Eye Color - Silver
Hair Color - Dark Grey
Skin Tone - Light Tan
Wing Color - Dark Grey/Silver
Status - Accomplished Angel
Original Name: Unknown
Full given name: Freundlicher Geist (Literally, “Kind Spirit”, more or less.)
Later Accessories: Always wears white bandaging on his arms and legs. His feet are partly covered by the wraps, and he does not wear shoes. Wears a black undershirt, and a blue and white tae kwon outfit over that. Sports a greyish-purple scarf.

Freundlicher stretched, leaning sideways a little to relax the muscles in his side. Straightening up, the young man slowly cracked his neck and rolled his shoulders back and then forward. From his back were spread two wings, thickly covered in dark gray feathers that shone dimly from a certain angle with a silvery luminescence. His face and features were that of a teenager, though his heart and thoughts were beyond such years. He was particularly tall for his apparent age, and had a rather fit build. His TaeKwon-style outfit was pure white with blue accents, and white hand and foot wraps served to cover and reinforce the joints of his wrists and ankles.
There was little on the agenda for today. Things were going relatively slow - in fact, surprisingly slow. Usually, there were countless jobs to be done at all times, but for the time being, the task list was not overwhelming. Removing a small list from his pocket, Freundlicher pursed his lips in thought, and sighed gently. There was one interesting item on his list today - a new angel-in-training had recently arrived, and was undoubtedly awaiting the explanation all angels-in-training would have to be given..

CHAPTER ONE -
ENTER WEISS, ENTER FREUNDLICHER.

Or, WEISS, FOR HE KNOWS. (Or at least, he will soon enough!)

Weiss sighed, wandering nonchalantly from wall to wall in the huge, white room. He was a little restless, a little confused, a little lost. He was trying to recall in his mind why he was here. How he had gotten here. Most of all, he wondered how on earth he had come to attain a pair of small wings. They weren’t nearly big enough to support him in flight, that was for sure. Weiss sighed and looked up at the whitewashed ceiling for the hundredth time, thinking over everything he could remember - which wasn’t much. He was sure he’d been someplace else before now, and had done plenty of things as well. But now, all of that was a blur, and could not be clearly recollected. Weiss definitely had his suspicions about what was happening now, though...
Just not...why.
With another heavy sigh, Weiss turned and leveled his gaze, crying out is surprise as another pair of eyes met with his own.
“So, you want to know where you are and how you got here, hmm? That’s a pretty common question.”
Weiss had lost his focus at this point. The young man before him had a very large pair of dark gray wings that seemed to shine silver from certain angles. The wings themselves were tucked back and nearly touched the ground.
Weiss became suddenly aware that the figure before him had stopped talking, probably some time ago. He shifted his gaze back to the lightly-tanned features of the face that, he now realized, was nigh a foot higher than his own.
“Heh...” Weiss nervously chuckled.
“Don’t be so shy. Everyone has a bit of trouble paying attention when they first get here. That’s what I’m here for. My name is Freundlicher Geist. It is my given name. Your given name is Weiss Theon, am I right?”
“Yes...” Weiss replied, surprised.
Everything was rather surprising here.
“Very good, very good...”
“How old are you?” Weiss cut in, his curiosity taking place of courtesy.
“How old? Why do you ask?” Freundlicher inquired, looking curiously at Weiss.
“Well...you only look sixteen or so...”
“Oh, that.” The gray-winged angel chuckled. “Yes, I do seem a bit on the young side, but I assure you I am a most trustworthy instructor.”
“...Wait,” Weiss spoke up, after a brief pause. “Instructor?”

Freundlicher grinned and nodded. “Yes, Weiss. I am your instructor so long as you are in training.”
Now Weiss was thoroughly confused.
“...Training? What training? Aren’t I in...”
“Yes, yes you are. This is Heaven.”
“Then what do I need training for...?”
“Well, I suppose this deserves some specific explanation...you may not recall, but your yourself prayed for a chance to be useful to someone, very shortly before you came here.”
Weiss furrowed his brow, deep in thought. Amongst those many vague memories, the one in particular did seem to stand out. But why would he pray for something...like that?
“Well, your prayer was heard, and will be answered, there should be no doubt of that. Better yet, your prayer will be used to answer someone else’s All in God’s perfect time, you see ”
“I’m afraid that still doesn’t answer my question...” Weiss sighed gently, trying not to show his impatience.
“Ah, indeed. Your heart is not fond of indirect answers. I will then get right to the point. Your prayer to be made of use will be answered in this way - you are to be trained into a Guardian Angel, at which point you will be assigned to a young lady who has prayed for a friend and confidant. Little does she know how much she will require such support...” Freundlicher’s expression grew clouded and sad.
“So that’s it then? I’m going to become a Guardian Angel?” Weiss asked, actually quite surprised and awestruck.
“Exactly.” The gray-winged angel replied, nodding. “Something of an honor, too. Guardian Angels are not often chosen.”
“Why can’t I be one right away?”
“Well,” Freundlicher began, drawing a loose feather from his right wing and holding it near his face and looking pensive. “Your faith, I’m afraid, is rather lacking...the fact that you died so young and prayed such a sad prayer are reinforcing signs of this. Although, even some of our older candidates required just as much training...so don’t let the idea of it get you down. You’ll be a formidable Guardian before you know it.”
“Well...should we start or...are you busy...?”
Freundlicher grinned. “I don’t see why we couldn’t go ahead and start your training now. Shall we begin, then?”
“By all means!” Weiss replied, grinning.

CHAPTER TWO -
TRAINING: FAITH

“Repeat them to me again, please.” Freundlicher firmly demanded.
“Charity, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty... self-control, chastity...and...eh...and...” Weiss faded off, struggling with the final word.
“...Close...” Freundlicher sighed. “Patience...or long-suffering. You always have trouble with that one...it’s something you’ve always struggled with, especially as a human. Keep studying that one, no matter how frustrating. Impatience has been the downfall of many a good heart.”
“I can see why...” Weiss sighed.
“Just don’t give up. You’re still just a novice angel, particularly susceptible to even some of the world’s effects. Once your faith is strong, nothing of the world, nor the sly fiends of Hades will effect you at all.”
“Does everyone who dies have to do this...?” Weiss asked, after a pause.
“...No. You accepted Christ, and were therefore permitted through the gates of Heaven. But you died with very little faith and require training to strengthen your faith. Especially, I might add, since you are chosen to fight the Enemy.”
“As one of the Guardian angels, you mean, eh?”
Freundlicher nodded. “Yes. The greater the Faith, the stronger the spirit. Additionally, the Fruits of the Spirit are vital to the strength of an Angel. That’s why I’m teaching each of them to you so you can understand and know each of them personally.”
Weiss scratched his cheek thoughtfully and nodded. “I understand that. I just need to work on my patience, huh?”
“Precisely. You’ll be ready to start apprenticeship soon enough. All the studying and learning aspects of becoming a Guardian don’t account for much until you can use that knowledge for the glory of God. Do you understand this?”
“Yeah,” Weiss replied, smiling. “It’s like having a musical instrument...it’s not much good to anyone unless you play it.”
Freundlicher smiled broadly. “Yes, exactly. You do catch on quick. Oh That reminds me. Have you any musical interests?”
“Wh-...Musical interests?” Weiss repeated, a little confused by the question.
“Do you enjoy playing any particular musical instrument?” Freundlicher rephrased.
“Oh...yeah, in fact...”
“Ah, brilliant The harmonica, correct?”
Weiss stared, still halfway through answering.
This got a chuckle out of the gray-winged angel. “You want to know how I know so much about you, hmm? It’s quite simple, really.”
“Do tell...” Weiss urged, curious to know.
“Faith ” Was the only reply, accompanied by a wide grin.
Weiss sighed, smiling too. “I get the point. I’ll keep studying ”
“Yes, and you’ll get it all before long. Apprenticeship is not far off...which reminds me, I have an appointment to catch. I’ll return soon. Finish studying up on that character building, all right?”
“Sure. Consider it done. Good luck ”
Freundlicher grinned. “Up here in heaven, we don’t believe in luck. Have some faith, will you?”
Weiss waved meekly and pursed his lips.
Wow, he thought, I really do lack faith...
All in good time... Whispered his heart.
Weiss smiled gently and knelt under a palm tree overlooking a magnificent panorama of a seashore at sunrise. In life, Weiss had loved to visit placed like this.
Charity, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity...and patience.
“All in good time.”

CHAPTER THREE
TRAINING: PATIENCE (Preparation for apprenticeship.)

Charity...Love......Agape - unconditional love.
Love for all peoples, all races, all ages, all people. No one person is excluded from God’s love.
Joy...not just happiness - but unfathomable contentment you cannot keep bttled up inside. To be joyful is to have one’s heart aloft on wings.
Peace..that feeling of calm and comfort, even amidst the storm. That silent lullaby that settles the spirit when you lay down to sleep.
Self-Control...

Weiss rose from his seat under the gently-swaying palm tree and stretched his arms and legs, as well as his little angel’s wings. The lulling roar of the ocean waves was very calming and the endless sky was full of the promising morning light that melded with the warming golden light that permeated every part of Heaven. It seemed like a long time since Freundlicher had left, but really there was no way of telling. Heaven didn’t exactly follow a time frame the same way Earth did. Yet Weiss was still growing impatient, which surprised him even though his studies took up a good deal of his time.
It must have something to do with my lack of patience... Weiss thought, a little sadly. Well, all the more reason to work on that, I suppose.
“Not bad logic. You are definitely a quick learner.” A familiar voice caught Weiss’ attention. Looking behind him, Weiss sighted Freundlicher and gave him a questioning gaze. There was a female angel with him now, and she was dressed in a long, graceful white dress that didn’t quite touch the ground.
“This is Catherine. She will alternately serve as your mentor during your on-site apprenticeship when I should be unable to attend, or if I should become otherwise employed.” Freundlicher explained in his usual, placid manner. Weiss turned to greet Catherine with a polite obeisance and smile. She returned the gesture and clasped her hands behind her back, smiling kindly.
“A pleasure to meet you ”
“I like your name It suits you ” Weiss found himself blurting out. “Gah ” He stammered afterward, looking down sheepishly.
“That’s very kind of you,” Catherine replied, laughing lightly. “Your name is well chosen, as well. But then, the Lord knows us better than we know ourselves. Our given names prove that.”
“Precisely.” Freundlicher chimed in. “Now, Weiss, you have a choice. I’ve got another job on Earth to attend to in a moment - would you like to come along to see how a Guardian Angel works? Or would you rather wait until later when Catherine can take you along for her assigned task?”
Weiss smiled broadly. “Oh, I’d like very much to go now, if Miss Catherine does not mind.”
“I don‘t mind in the least.” Catherine replied, smiling sweetly. “You sound so excited, I wouldn’t think of keeping you another minute.”
“Well, if that is the case,” Freundlicher began, stretching his magnificent gray-and-silver wings, “Then let’s go see to that job of mine. Come, Weiss. Stay close, if you don’t mind. Your wings aren’t any good for flying at this point, after all.”
Weiss sighed, taking hold of Freundlicher’s sleeve “I know, don’t remind me ”
“Then hold on, please ”
“I am- GAH ~”
With little warning at all, Freundlicher took off from solid ground and dove through the dense, cloudy haze that separated one world from the next.
The two angels now stood in a dark side alley... on Earth.

CHAPTER FOUR -
TRAINING: SELF-CONTROL.....ENTER KYOSO.

“Now, bear in mid, Weiss,” Freundlicher spoke firmly as his addressee regained his bearings.
“Yes?” The slightly disoriented angel asked, looking around warily.
“Right now, you are both invisible to the human eye, and vulnerable to attack. Stay near to me when possible, and do NOT wander off. Do you understand?”
“I understand.” Weiss replied, nodding.
“Good. Now come along, and I’ll explain the situation.”
Making sure that Weiss was at his side, Freundlicher advanced toward the main street. Weiss was amazed by the nearly-chaotic state of the city. The blaring automobile horns, the towering obelisks of concrete and glass, and the general cacophony of the city left Weiss speechless.
Freundlicher smiled at his charge. “Pretty crazy, hm?”
“Ayuh...”Weiss managed, staring all around in awe.
“Don’t worry, it’s another one of those things you’ll catch on to in no time.”
The smile faded from the gray-winged angel’s lips, but it was still shining in his eyes, as he continued. “You’re going to have a slightly different job than what you’ll see me doing. Your ward will know of your existence and will be able to confide in you. My assignments are nowhere near as personal, so the apprenticeship outings you come with on my clock won’t apply to you 100%. But you will learn one major thing...”
Weiss was momentarily distracted by a newspaper page whirling by on a smoggy breeze before he glanced back at Freundlicher. “...And what is that?”
“You must not rely on your own strength. No matter how many times you tell yourself you can handle any given situation on your own, you will not succeed without faith in God. He is the one from whom you receive your strength and ability.”
“I understand...” Weiss replied, though his hesitation got a sideways glance from his instructor.
“I’m not sure that you do, just yet. You’ll see what I mean in just a few moments. Stay close.”
“All right.”
Staring toward a bank on the corner of a busy intersection, the two angels stayed close together and waited for the moment that Freundlicher so often had spoken of recently. Weiss, still inexperienced in spite of all he had learned since he had first known of his destiny, had no idea just what was in store.
“There... ” Freundlicher murmured, tensing up. At first, Weiss still saw nothing dangerous or threatening, but out of nowhere, a Volkswagen swerved violently into the street from a side road and nearly ran a Chevy off the street into a hot dog cart. The chevy abruptly straightened out and slowed to a stop as the VW raced on. Weiss was shocked to see that Freundlicher had left his side and was nowhere in sight.
“Swell. How am I supposed to stay by his side at this rate??”
“He works quite fast, don’t you worry.” a low voice startled Weiss. Looking behind him, he noticed a young man with black hair and curiously dark eyes gazing silently at him.
“Eh, and who might you be?” Weiss asked, warily watching the newcomer.
“I’m here to keep tabs on you while your Instructor is busy focusing on his job. See how he’s working to keep things to minimal damage? He’s quite skilled, indeed.”
Weiss nodded, still a bit put off by this wingless persona’s appearance. The praise of his noble instructor was rather disarming, however.
“He’s one of the best,” Weiss agreed, watching as several other cars skidded out of the rampant Volkswagen’s path.
“Well then, I suppose I ought to introduce myself...but actually, I’d really like to know your name. You seem like a promising sort of chap...”
“My name...uh...I’m Weiss...”
“Weiss? Is that all?” The stranger pressed.
“...I’m not entirely enjoying your prying mannerisms.” Weiss mumbled, giving the young man something of a sour glare.
“Your wings are kind of small...you’re here on apprenticeship duty, aren’t you? Not even a full Guardian! Pah! ”
“I will be, soon ” Weiss retorted, now getting particularly annoyed. “Now why don’t you tell me your name?”
“Fine, if you’re going to keep nagging...I’m Kyoso Hoten.”
“...Kind of an odd name...” Weiss murmured wonderingly.
“Yours isn’t quite textbook material, either.”
“You know, I really don’t think you’re an Angel.”
“Great observation; accurate, too. See, I’m a ghost. A sad little soul left to wander on this forlorn planet until doomsday. Can you blame me for my bitter ways? I suppose you’ll have to pardon my rather caustic attitude. I really only mean to help rookies such as yourself.”
“Well, I appreciate that much,” Weiss finally consented, dropping his guard.
“No worries at all. Say...did you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
“Sh-h-h Listen...”
The two of them fell silent and strained to hear through the din of engines, horns, and chattering pedestrians. There was the sound of a child calling for its parents.
“Over this way ” Kyoso beckoned to Weiss as he ran further down the alley towards the next block. Weiss followed briskly, watching as Kyoso suddenly turned down another alleyway.
“Hey Wait up, will you? ” The apprentice angel called after Kyoso. Weiss turned down the second alley and was stopped violently by a resilient wall of sticky threads laced together. He was held fast in place as the sticky threads gripped onto him like glue.
“Ugh...what on earth... ?”
“Tell me, Knowledgeable one...” Kyoso’s low voice spoke out from the vague expanse of the alley. Weiss, immobile for the most part, could not look very far to find where his suspicious escort had run off to. He could only guess that Kyoso was somehow overhead, perhaps hovering in the air, as his voice continued, “Are you...afraid of anything?”
This odd question left Weiss momentarily speechless, but he responded quickly after the short pause. “What do I have to fear, but God Himself?”
Weiss felt a shiver run down his spine in spite of the courage he sought within himself. He could almost feel Kyoso smiling, though he could not see him.
“You’re still just a silly little novice at heart, Weiss. You’re still strung closely to this world by your bonds of regret. Of course you’re afraid of something ”
“I am not I have no reason to fear ”
“We’ll just see about that...”Kyoso muttered.
“Let me go What’ve you got me stuck on...? ”
A tingling sensation on Weiss’ neck caused him to fall silent. He knew that feeling from somewhere...and he did NOT like it. Another sensation of the same sort made his arm and leg twitch, and he was sure he felt more of the same thing creeping up his back and around his wings. They were more developed since his first days in Heaven, and they responded to touch more acutely than before as well. Something was definitely crawling on him...
His skin ran cold as the dim alleyway light illuminated an eight-legged shape crawling down in front of him from a strand of webbing connected to what he assumed was a large web - more than likely the thing he had so foolishly stumbled into. That’s when it happened. Memories and fears suddenly revived anew within Weiss, and there came the carnal realization of terror that had been a phobia in his days of living. He gave a scream and struggled to wrench himself free from the binding of the spider web, but only managed to get himself turned around and all the more ensnared in the process. By now he did the only thing he could think of doing - he screamed for help. His cry fell short as a massive silhouette overshadowed him from above. Having at least loosened the webbing around his head, he was able to peer upwards somewhat to see something that might have very well come from a most terrible nightmare. From the side of the building leapt down an enormous spider, landing dexterously on its eight hair legs and working its threatening, black fangs.
“You were too rash, Weiss.” the spider spoke, with Kyoso’s voice. “Too quick to fend for yourself when you cannot even discern the truth from lies You are a disgrace to the One you serve ”
“ENOUGH ” An angry voice boomed through the alleyways. The giant spider flinched, hissing and cowering back toward the shadows. The small little spiders that had been creeping all over Weiss also retreated, leaving their prey dazed and terrified with arms, legs, and wings bound in webbing. Freundlicher advanced through the first alleyway, wielding in his hand a sword of light. The spider recoiled at the sight of it, the sword’s glow reflecting in all eight of its black, beady eyes.
“Weiss, are you all right?” Freundlicher asked gently, though he still glowered at the spider with righteous anger burning in his eyes.
“I’ll be fine...” Weiss managed, suddenly feeling very ashamed of himself.
“Catherine, free him while I get rid of this unwelcome guest.”
The female angel Weiss had been introduced to not so long ago complied and came over to help him extract himself from the vile webbing. The sticky threads gave way easily now that he had composed himself enough to better face his fear. Catherine smiled gently and took Weiss’ hand.
“Are you sure you are well?” She asked him, just to be sure.
Weiss nodded meekly and watched as Freundlicher struck the spider with his sword. Instantly the monstrous arachnid returned to humanoid form, two black demon’s wings flaring angrily as Freundlicher pinned him against the nearest alley wall, sword readied for the final blow. Kyoso’s dark eyes fell upon Weiss, and a strange smile sent a chill up the angel’s spine.
“Watch for me next time, rookie ” He laughed before the blade of light blotted him from sight, and he was gone.

... ... ...

Ah, that's all for now. I'll work on more and post later. I know it's not 100% proofread, and copying it on the forum made some punctuation mess up (I'm not sure why) so that will explain any odd looking sentence endings I may have missed...
hope you enjoyed it so far... XD
