Principalities, In the office

Claudia, still in her female form after her last trip to Earth, sat at her desk. She liked to keep it clean, with papers, pens, and envelopes stacked next to her. There was nothing in her many drawers. The walls, however, held a multitude of paintings, ranging from Rodin to some five year old's birthday present to their father.

Looking at the single sheet of paper before her, she read through one of the letters a president was sending to a Prime Minister. There were threats of war, mass destruction, and more idiotic tendencies that humans had.

Sighing, she wrote up a memo to the Powers and the Thrones to sort out some personalities and to check to see how likely the war was.

Hannah was strolling down the hall, making her normal rounds and checking up on many of the angel's progress. She peaked in several doors, and inside cubicals exchanging greetings and updates with sevral of the workers. On her journy she came to the office of Caludia/Klaud (depending entirely upon the gender of said angel).


"Afternoon," Hannah began, "I trust your last visit to earth went well."

Claudia put down the paper and broke into laughter at the pretty, child-like angel because realizing that Hannah was being serious. "Oh, sorry, Hannah. Just a rough time like usual. I keep screwing things up. 'Whoops, Klaud forgot to age!' 'Well, Claudia can just say he's dead again!'" Claudia giggled.

"You have the most peculiar way of managing your problems," Anael said as casually as if he'd been listening all along (which indeed he had been). "Intelligent, useful, just different." In awknowledgment of Hannah's presence, Anael tweaked her nose playfully.

"Aw, nice, Anael," Claudia joked. "It hard to keep up. Cut me come slack. I mean, I have to change gender, then figure out what to wear, then find the person, then lie to them. And I'm not good at lying. And," she added, lowering her voice, "I'm always stuck breaking the news to beautiful people, which doesn't make it any easier." She grinned.

Anael ruffled Claudia's hair appraisingly and looked over at Hannah as an older brother would a younger sister, despite the fact that she had been about considerably longer than himself, and had also taught him everything he knew.

A mischievious smile came about his face. It was always the hi-light of his day to watch her expressions as he made subtle references to the differences in the age of the forms they took.

(OOC: Kinda long, as an opening post. Don't mind my jumping in Xx sorry about the lecture... lol, I'll try to keep them shorter from now on.)


So this was Heaven.
There was the monotonous officelike atmosphere here. There were the conversing "employees" of the afterlife, enjoying what might be considered something of a coffee break by earth's standards. This part of heaven was always alive with the hum of run-down computer processors, the crinkly shuffling of papers in the process of being sorted, and the occasional chuckle, sigh, and mutter.

...and then, there was Weiss.

If there was ever an angel-in-training for Guardianship who could break up the monotony of a dull office-type assignment, it was Weiss.
"Gah!! Not again, not again...!"
Straightening up the tottering file cabinet he had carelessly run into, Weiss sighed with relief as it finally came to rest in a stable manner. The threat of a filing catastrophe had come and passed without any sort of major damage.

Weiss had been in something of a hurry at the time, though it seemed like he was always rushing to get somewhere. This particular occasion, he had been looking for someone to certify him as an official Guardian Angel, now that his nearly endless training schedule had at long last finally paid off. It had taken him a disgustingly long time to complete, and now he was eligible for the position he had longed for since his arrival in Heaven.
He caught sight of a group of angels making some small talk and scurried toward them, his silvery-blue eyes wide with excitement and impatience. Maybe they'd be able to help him out...?
"H-hey, guys! Yooo-hoo! I need to ask you a slight favor, or question, or...or whatever the deuce it is..." He stopped about a yard from them, finally regaining composure and more suitable manners. "Think you can help me out?"

Anael straightened smartly from his position of mocking the childlike angel and turned to face the newcomer. "Of course," he said, giving this unfamiliar angel a welcoming smile. "What can I do for you?"

Claudia straighted up, looking over at Weiss with a grin on her face. It felt nice to finally have a real distraction from work and talk to the others. "Yeah? Having some trouble?"

She stood up, trying to see what was going on, making sure to muss up Anael's hair as much as she could in revenge.

Weiss smiled wide. It was clear he was either hyperactive or just ridiculously excited about something on his mind.
"Yeah, um...I've kinda finished my angel training...what do I do to move on to Guardian status? Is there some kinda paperwork to fill out, or do I just close my heels and tap my eyes- Errrk, I mean close my eyes and...gah, I keep getting ahead of myself..." Weiss took a deep breath, sorting his thoughts and tried again. It worked well enough.

"How do I move up to Guardian angel status?"

Claudia grinned and clapped him on the arm, then gave him a bearhug. "Awww. You're growing up so fast. I remember back when I was there." Still grinning, she tried to think back to those days - they had been sometime around the 1700s and 1800s. It had been a fun job that she was almost sad to have upgraded from.

She opened a bottom drawer in her desk, picking out one of the papers. "Just a little form to sign. Right there." She pointed to the 'x' at the bottom of the page. "Simplest thing in the world."

Weiss looked somewhat surprised, but it was obvious he was quite overjoyed, too. (When wasn't he overjoyed?)
"Just one signing? That -is- easy. I'm more used to having to sign all sorts of stuff. This is great."

Weiss took a quill pen that was lying nearby, dipped it in ink and scrawled his name on the line after the 'x'.
"Weiss....Theon......there! Signed it."

Grinning, Claudia folded up the paper and put it inside of an envelope. "The only person it has to go to know is Gabriel. He'll just sign it really quick and - boom - guardian angel. You have any clue where you're going to go? Who you're going to follow? Freelance?"

Anael clapped the angel on the back in congradulations. "I'll have to notify someone about your raise in status, someone probably should have been a bit more diligent about getting the proper signature from you, and to Gabriel." Anael chose to neglect the fact that he had been making the same mistake regularly for a millenia.

The excited angel before him made Anael beam himself. Anyone who would delibrately hurt this angel was a nincompoop, he decided.

"Things have been running a bit" - Claudia lowered her voice - "badly. There's no one doing any of the management correctly, or taking the signatures, or even taking record of who's falling."

She sighed and looked back at Weiss. He looked so happy that she almost had to grin herself and ignore all of the problems overrulling Heaven.
