you know what i'm in the mood for? resurrection!
the original forum rp let's see if we can start this back up! my idea is that we conclude the events that were occurring when we stopped in 'paragraph form' - a lot like a fast-forward film technique. we skip forward past the climactic conclusion to see where the characters are after the fact (i present one possible scenario below). of course, to do this right would require the recommitment/un'retirement' of SwordMage, kotorjedi_amaya, Lone Wolf, Ziva, and myself; however, we've all appeared on the boards not more than 2 months ago, so it doesn't seem to unreasonable (and fine, if we're really in a bind, we could recruit some "new" blood (frank, or mcscope, or aez (y'know: people we trust, plus aez)), but that ruins a bit of the nostalgia). so, to recap: setting modern/futuristic, with heavy psionic and supernatural abilities going on in the background essentially, win. players SwordMage - Galen, a dreamweaver and spy, with some combat ability Lone Wolf - Vertigo, a cybernetic assassin, deadly with both rifle and fist kotorjedi_amaya - Zenan, an initially whimsical telepath/phrenic with other minor psionics, plus a berserker alternate personality Ziva - Lera, a lycanthrope of sorts, skilled in hand-to-hand combat herrdoktor - Twin, a seer/telepath and general psychic badass of great power and vision; the main 'villain' in the first thread various (originally herrdoktor) - the hobo, a hobo who advances the plot where we left off after a climactic duel between Galen and Twin, Lera was kidnapped by Twin. a car chase between Vertigo and Twin ensued, with Vertigo temporarily being imprisoned at Twin's hideout. Galen and Zenan stormed the hideout, with the help of government anti-psi units. in a lycanthropic fit, Lera is torn between fighting her friends and fighting Twin's men. a new enemy (to both sides) emerges as Twin is losing, in the form of a powerful anti-psi unit (who refers to himself as an exterminator of the 'mutants'). Twin flees in a desperate bid to find a way to stop the Exterminator, but Vertigo escapes his cell, and a slow-mo battle occurs between the two. everyone's time is running thin. a possible temporary resolution with Klaus (Twin's resilient bodyguard) being defeated by the Exterminator, only Galen and Lera are left to stand against him, though their odds look slim (especially since they are already fairly beat up). Zenan has been running through the halls looking for Twin, and stumbles upon a greatly distorted region of space that seems to contain the forms of Twin and Vertigo - they are in the middle of a slow-time fight, which Vertigo is winning [i know, not quite what was going to happen, but way cooler, so i'm alright with it]. Twin, perhaps seeing Zenan outside, expels himself from the field, and asks her to help him out. they mange to implant a suggestion in Vertigo to continue on down the hall (“Twin might be there”), which he does when the field wears off. Vertigo encounters Galen and Lera on their lasts knees doing battle with the Exterminator. Vertigo's reliance on non-psionic varieties of whoop-ass lets him fare very well against the Exterminator, who is weakened significantly, though has too much support to be finished off. Vertigo retreats back, carrying Galen and Lera (perhaps as meatshields), and manages to find his way out to a backdoor helipad. Zenan has dragged Twin (exhausted mentally and physically) out to the same area, where all five board a helicopter. though Vertigo considers killing Twin there, he decides to put it off after Zenan acknowledges galen and Lera as her friends (deciding that the situation has gotten more interesting than he expected). Vertigo pilots the helicopter out of the complex. several minutes later, the complex explodes [3 options: Twin set the self-destruct, Vertigo set the self-destruct, or the Exterminator had the facility bombed], and we get the proverbial fade to black. cut to a few months later: Galen, Twin, Zenan, and Lera are living together in a lower-class 'townhome' region of the city, kept 'off the psychic grid' by Twin 24/7. most of Galen's resources mysteriously vanished after the incident, though he was able to keep some thanks to a few of the city newspapers and tabloids - but the presidential scandals are beginning to wane as the favourite gossip. the group has been surviving mainly off of oddjobs taken by Galen and Zenan in several of the surrounding neighborhoods, supplemented by the occasional rabbit meal courtesy of Lera's fits (though they're getting better). none of them have seen Vertigo for at least a month; the hobo, however, seems to have grown attached to wherever they go. now then, supposing something like that happens, we'll need to show how our characters have changed since the last rp due to the incident. obviously, i'll go first (with Twin): Twin: mostly what Twin feels now is guilt, comraderie, and anger. most of his days are filled with feeling that he let down all the others at the facility, that he should have been able to save them, or protect them, especially over the (supposed) death of his childhood friend Klaus. on the other hand, he feels genuine comraderie by being around the group that he had once thought to be his enemies. he believes that there are a few issues left, though, especially in trying to convince Galen that he never really wanted to kill or rule the non-'mutants' (as the government's projected image of him would attest), and feels guilty about what he did to Lera (controlling and using her as a test subject). he has mostly forgotten about the vendetta between Vertigo and him (which is not to say that Vertigo has...). however, one unsettling change has affected him - namely, a little voice of rage speaks to him, coming from the inner core of his soul complex, baffling him, urging him to step dangerously closer to the government's image of Twin (will he be able to quell it when a moment for it to surface comes?). overall, he has become less cold, and more passionate, though whether towards peace or anger will yet to be seen. |

I think you missed the part where you're insane!
{He actually thinks that's pretty cool, but has no chance of being invited in to replace someone. [Haha, you broke your 3rd person narration!] {oh no!} |

I don't think the rest will join you in the mass-resurrection of your past...but what do I know? I'm an ickle-freshieman.

I'll yell at aez and frank to do this next skiffy. It would probably be fun to read, even if I wasn't in it.

Actually I was never really involved much with this RP, so I don't know what was going on at all. If other people want to join in, I may join in, provided things move slowly so I don't have to read four pages of posts every other day.
And there are always other RPs that can be resurrected... If I remember correctly, there was an RP with minimal development that died somewhere; there would be enough info for backstory, but not too much to catch up with. Shorter RPs: RP II-A--3 pages! RP V--14 pages. |

that one was so cool, too! neat arthurian theme, ripe for historical and mythological tidbits to slip through. problem i think was that mainly you and i (that is, our characters) could really advance the plot. swordmage's just kind of drifted off the scene, and aez's was simply too crazy for the thread. i would also be interested in reviving that one if you were. |

did aez ever post in V? (a second time, I mean). Wow. after reading II-A... Aez is creative, to say the least.

I'm cool with resurrecting II-A. I think I will just start deleting/editing useless/misleading posts (Aez probably won't notice for a day or two...)
For any interested n00bs: If you want to join in, it's fine. Try not to make too many posts at once, please please please! And, whenever you post, try to have at least one thing/action/dialogue snippet which will advance the plot. |

Actually, resurrecting one of the old RPs would be awesome. Just because they died once doesn't mean they will again, especially since there seem to be more active people now. Back in the day only a few people so much as regularly checked the forums, and everyone else would post occasionally then vanish for weeks.
Personally, I would like to see a revival of either I or V. If we do II-A, I'll likely have to create a new character for it but that's not a big deal. |

Wait...
Is SwordMage being back on the forums a good thing or a bad thing? {For who?} For me. Which is what counts. {Bad. Very bad.} Rats. {You mean 'ferrets.'} Huh? Oh, yeah, and they're doing one in the Stuff forum, in case you weren't aware... |

*trawling for any more interest in reviving one of the old RPs* we don't have one on right now, so seems like a reasonable time to check again
concerning things like this: a lot of you have become much more experienced (tsc especially from the God Game and the RP IIA revival), so i'm welcome to 'fresh' blood on this. (may be good as some character's attitudes will have changed, as in my proposed RP I temp ending above) of course, it'd be in addition to e-mailing older members for interest; i'm always happy when members stick with the club even after they've left. tentative want list for RP I: herr, SM, Frank, tsc, ?, ? or, even another resurrection of RP IIA would be neat anyway, give it a thought. and the RPs that you little people ended are also fine to look at for resurrection. |

I can arrange one. It'll give me something to keep me active. And I can use a few of my "black box powers" from a year ago, which are otherwise not doing anything. [XF evil laugh] Just so I know, is it even possible to finish an RP? Because in my experience, we never have.

Just finished reading RP I, and your proposed ending. It isn't obvious where the plot will go from there, but I'm sure someone will come up with something if a revival was started. Introducing a new character (or just recycling a neglected character) might be a good way to begin.
Neglected characters: Elizabeth Cairon Aria The woman who got the data disk Joe Joeson could be brought in, that would be funny Concerning players: If someone actually creates a thread for a new rp, I'm sure we can gather enough players. With a skiffy meeting this Wednesday, people who don't frequent the forums can be recruited. |

good that you read through it. what'd you think of the rp style?
yeah, Aria's character simply came at a bad time, and without enough conviction (it would have been best if she jumpkicked out of nowhere and started fighting Galen or something) (i'm not sure if it was intentional, but the character intro she gave (see SM's OP) sounds a lot like Elektra) Klaus is also available as a character; he could have escaped, or even survived the explosion EDIT: there's also a fight scene between Klaus and the Exterminator that was never truly RPed (Klaus runs through a wall, luckily 'catches' Galen (perhaps Twin helped on the timing), and starts fighting the Exterminator. then at some point, he gets too beat up and thrown through another wall. but the middle is ripe for action, and for describing some of the anti-mutant/anti-psi tech the Exterminator has.) (the hobo's already the joe joeson 'goofy' character) at the very least, i'd like a post RPing the time bubble fight between Twin and Vertigo (Lone Wolf's more awesome interpretation of my intended action at the time). i'll e-mail SMike about it, but that could be a good way for one of you guys to "show me your moves" RP-style-wise This post has been edited by herrdoktor on Oct 18 2009, 03:50 PM |
