THE KING OF SPADES

The King of Spades worked his way to the top by proving himself to be a hard-working, shrew business man his whole life. He was always in the King's favor, and when the former King passed, he named Kennedy as his successor. Kennedy rules with determination and grit. The law in Spades that every able person must work by age sixteen is held in very high regard in his eyes. Kennedy has been ruling for twenty years, and somewhere in the middle he got turned around, his cunning business side taking over. He and the King of Clubs struck a deal that any man that was abnormally fit and strong would be sent to the City of Clubs [see groups/races for details].

The Queen was only twenty-five when she took the throne with her husband, their son one year old. She was young and an idealist, but years of working hard, serving her people, and making sure that everyone has enough food in the city, has made her tougher, harder. Her smile is not as wide as it used to be, though it's less elusive than her husband's. She loves her family and will sacrifice anything for them. The Queen is known as stern, yet understanding and sympathetic to people's stories. Fair is a very good word to describe her.

The King trusts Bauer with his secrets, his life, and the future of their city.

The Jack is the leader of the city's personal army. The Jack of Spades is the son of the King & Queen. He is described as brave, and admirable. He does not boast and is surprisingly humble for an only royal child. Despite his position in the Court, he is afraid of dying and always feels like he is vying for father's approval.

Alexander shed his formal name centuries ago. Like most vampires, he looks down the end of his nose on humanity. His family hailed from what was known as Greece. Alexander always took pride in coming from the great originators, and the place where some of the most noted minds convened. His talents lie in acting, public speaking, and poetry writing. He is more playful in nature than his beloved Queen, though he still commands obedience. Alexander dislikes the Jack of Hearts' lifestyle, but does not release him because he is good at what he does. Alexander gives credit when credit is due, but is also a slave to his Queen, turning a blind eye to her indiscretions and ignorance of the poor.

The Queen of Hearts is cold, condescending, cruel, a perfectionist, and mostly blood-thirsty. It is illegal for vampires to feed on humans, but she keeps secret bleeders in her court, many of which hope that she will sire them. In the end she bores of them and kills them. The Queen has no problem with double standards, and bending the rules with her power. She is passionate with her King, but at the same time sneaks behind his back, knowing he will not leave her. Since she is older than the King, as well as a human blood drinker, she is actually stronger, and can outmatch him.

The Ace of Hearts is the oldest vampire still alive, most were killed during the war. He is the strongest, and by far the wisest, though smart enough to not take the throne, only to seat himself just next to it. He is analytical, smart, cunning, humorous, witty, sharp tongued, and secretly in love with the Queen, but does not act on it. He knows that he could hide an affair with her, but he personally obeys the laws he sets. Instead, in some masochistic way of showing his love to her, he hides the Queen's dirty work.

When the former Jack was killed in combat, the Queen wanted someone that simply did as he was told. She found Glass, an arrogant play boy that slept around, drank, and smoked, but always got the job done. One of the main reasons he was chosen was because at a very young age he proved to be extremely strong, demonstrating skills that would take a normal vampire many decades to build. His strength is also enhanced by drinking the blood of the girls he sleeps with ... which he could care less about.

The King of Clubs is the Alpha Male of his city, and despite not being the eldest, he is by far the strongest and most dominant. He is cunning, a little sadistic, and loves having power. His Queen is his own, and no one is to touch her, though he is perfectly content with pleasuring himself with other women. He has strong animal tendencies, loving the chase women give him and winning them over. The King protects his land, as he is very territorial, and will fight in a war to save what is his.

The Queen's family once hailed from Poland, her family having strong Easter European ties. Her lycan heritage goes back before her species was legalized, which makes her blood relatively pure and strong. She is faithful and loyal to her King, but refused to marry him. To her, it was like putting a leash on her neck. The Queen is certainly a free-spirit, relishing in the arts and finer things that most lycans do not have a taste for.

The older brother of the King, the Ace has a much softer demeanor. He is smart, calculated and projects dominance and power with his presence, not his words or boasting. It was never his idea of becoming a Royal, so he gave that job to his brother, but knowing his brother's tendencies, stayed close by. Rebels attacked the outskirts of the city while he and his wife ventured out one afternoon, and he lost her ten years ago. He has been approached by many women but none have held his heart the way she did. His tortured, quiet nature makes him that more attractive.

The Jack of Clubs, simply known as Homer, is the epitome of brute force. He doesn't give a damn about anyone, barely himself. He does what he must to survive. He feeds his vices and desires without a thought, taking any woman, no matter the race, to his bed. The Jack is strong and can handle just past the average weight someone his age normally can. He serves the King and the Queen, but generally hates humanity, and the depravity that he perceives as the underlying tone of their new found world. The only small sign that proves he is not a robot is his passion for innocence and its preservation -- even if the world is deprave, in his eyes depravity cannot touch those that are truly innocent, especially young children. Needless to say he would never touch a virgin or defile her in any way; only someone very, very special would be able to catch his eye in a genuine way.

Beckett is one of the most genuine men alive, working to honor his family and his city. He is fair, whether the decision concerns someone close to him or a city person. He is the offspring of two H.provectus, which has afforded him enhanced senses, speed and agility. He is physically fit, and always accompanies his Jack into battle. When Beckett was thirty, and serving the then-King in his army, he met a girl that was much younger than he. They became good friends, as the girl's family was dead, and over many years what was friendship slowly became love, and when the King took the throne at age fifty, he married his Queen. Particular strengths: in addition to those afforded the H.provectus, skilled hand-to-hand combat and swordsmanship.

The Queen of Diamonds never looked at another man, and never will. The King is her life, and is the one person she turns to for everything. His strength gives her strength, and she made a vow that when the day comes when he does not return from battle, she will relinquish the throne and kill herself. The Queen loves so blindly it sometimes clouds her judgment. She is not a poor Queen, isn't necessarily a wise one either. Only having the mind of a twenty-six year old girl, the Queen relies very heavily on her Ace, her most trusted advisor. Particular strengths: in addition to those afforded the H.provectus, skilled archer, perfect vision, beautiful singing voice.

All her life, her parents put her on display for anyone to see her and to marvel at how well she does in school, or can play the piano. Due to this forced notoriety, she doesn't take the spotlight willingly. But her talents were undeniable and the Queen knew that someone that smart must serve in her court. The Ace was honored, and graciously took the position. She is described as firm in her beliefs but fair in her decisions. Particular strengths: in addition to those afforded the H.provectus, extremely intelligent, can play the piano.

Raven, as she has always been known, ever since her mother threw her into the streets at age 12, is ruthless, cold, and very strong. Most women do not reach the maximum speeds and strengths of their race, but Raven does, and just a touch more. She has and always will be a fighter: not showing much emotion, is very militant, and in some way may be described as autistic. She has various quirks that suggest it, such as a lack of eye contact with people, short sentences that get to the point, and constant rocking on her heels or while sitting. Particular strengths: in addition to those afforded the H.provectus, quick and skilled hand-to-hand combat, swordsmanship, archery, and marksman.

Cheng is a strong leader, not a ruthless, killing machine that many people perceive him to be. He is a very disciplined and skilled warrior that rose quickly to the people of Constantine's leader. He leads by example, which is his sword, but does not bring the blade down on the innocent or kill frivolously. There is purpose in everything he does. Cheng has trained himself to be the most skilled combat leader in the Wastelands, with extreme power and speed, as well as accuracy.

Li has faced many challenges in her life: the first being the death of her family at a young age. From that loss, though, she became a stronger person, a fighter. She trained in hand to hand combat, swordsmanship and is rivaled only by the leader in her skill and speed. Li fights for the freedom to do what she pleases, and opposes anyone that tries to take that away from her.

Olsen is the offspring of a human and H.provectus, allowing her to experience increased speed, agility, strength, and senses, but no where near that of the H.provectus traits (she is at about 50% their strength). Olsen is a determined woman, and a fierce protector of her land because she believes that good will eventually blossom from the garden in its center. Like the Garden of Eden there is a tree that was greatly altered by the radiation, and as it is, the tree augments the nutritional value of the soil in the immediate area. However, too much of a good thing will kill the surrounding vegetation. The tree and the garden it provides nutrients to is constantly guarded by machine guns, threatening anyone that wishes to destroy the garden.
