if i'm louder would you see me
CJ could be like everyone else and say he absolutely adored homecoming, but he wasn’t like everyone else and frankly, he wasn’t so fond of homecoming. There was too many people in one place, the music was loud, and he wasn’t too fond of the noise. But he had decided that he would go for the hell of it, because what else was he going to do when everyone else was there and he wasn’t? Nothing, but sit around in an empty house. That wasn’t fun, so he had left early and made his way to the dance. There was more people than CJ could handle, simply because it was both schools and he wasn’t too fond of, that but he would make due. He would find Natty sometime and they would chatter or something like that.
CJ promised himself he would have fun at this dance, because he figured that if he went, he wasn’t going to be whiney about it, he was going to go and have fun. No matter how much he had to force himself to smile and tell people, no he wasn’t AJ, and no he had no clue where AJ was. He hated being mistaken for AJ, simply because he wasn’t AJ. He was his own person, no matter how much him and AJ looked alike. They were different. Extremely different in almost every way possible personality wise. And AJ didn’t like CJ, never talked to CJ unless it was telling him to fuck off or shut up. CJ made an effort to be nice and do little things for AJ. But all things aside, he was going to enjoy himself, no matter if he went alone or not.
There were too many people at the dance that was for sure. It made him slightly nervous and overwhelmed, because god knows CJ does absolutely terrible with people in general. He blushes regardless of what is said and makes a complete fool of himself. So, he decided to keep to himself tonight, he wasn’t going to make any friends, regardless of how much of a jerk he might come off as to the Lannister kids. He just wasn’t up for mingling with people he didn’t know, because frankly he was quite shy and didn’t want to talk more than he had too. Unless it was one of his friends.
CJ quietly made his way to the punch bowls, murmuring ‘excuse me’ and ‘pardon me.’ The whole way there, regardless barely anyone moved and he had to weave his way through the crowd. Making his way over there he poured himself a cup and stared down at the floor. Then sipping it as he peered around, waiting for someone he knew to recognize him and say hello. Hopefully it would be Natty. But knowing his luck, it would probably be someone who made him exceedingly uncomfortable and nervous. Which one example of this would be the Lauren girl, who always came up to him and talked to him and they always made plans, but he cancelled. Because he could not spend a hour with that girl. Not because of her or anything, because she really was gorgeous. He just didn’t know her well enough and lunch study sessions would be full of him murmuring things and blushing like a madman. Oh god. He just hoped and prayed that Natty would show up.

Well, Lauren loved dances. She loved the atmosphere, she loved the energy. She loved how horrible some people looked trying too hard to look pretty. She loved laughing at the guys tripping on their feet when they danced, loved it when people made a fool of themselves dressed so nicely, too. Well, nicely for some, horrible for others. It was amusing and entertaining and it was true that she didn't really go to these dances because she loved to dance - and she does, it's a passion. - but rather, she went because she found it funny. And this homecoming dance was something else all together, wasn't it? Because it was one that both rival schools attended and damn, if that didn't amount to insane fun - or humiliation - then she had no idea what did.
Except, dances are boring. They really are, in a way. Because people are dressed so nicely and they're all on their best behavior and nobody's getting drunk - not that she was a drinker, no, but she could handle her alcohol. Dances were boring, that was it. The people who went to these dances, though, were entertaining. And so it was that she went alone, dressed so nicely, too, because who was she if she didn't look gorgeous? She spent half her time talking to friends and flitting around, grabbing guys to dance with her - friends, strangers from Lannister who were charmed by her smile - and all around, she had to admit, she was having fun. Because this was Lauren, really, and she was far from boring. Even if you dump her in a graveyard, she'd probably end up raising hell - literally.
She even managed to steal her best friend away from that curly haired bitch he liked to call a boyfriend. Lauren knew she couldn't intrude long, though, as much as she wanted to annoy Eddy by stealing his date and dancing with him for more than three songs - and she did, that's what she did to AJ, danced to a slow song with him and then just went all trademark Lauren-AJ wild for the next two songs. But alas, he had a date and it wasn't her - and she would've danced with Eddy if he didn't smirk at her when she'd pushed AJ back to him. So instead, Lauren just blew them both a kiss and literally skipped away from the puke-inducing, nauseatingly adorable couple.
Thirsty, she was thirsty. And she had been dancing all night, too. Mingling, making new friends - who only lasted for like thirty seconds of a song and she didn't even get their names but whatever, it wasn't like she went to the same school as half of them to even bother with names and remembering them. Lauren didn't have a problem getting through the mass of people crowding around the punch bowl. "Excuse me, people actually want to get to the drink and not stand around just looking at it. So move." That was it, those were the magic words. The crowd parted and gave her space to make her way to the punch table. She tucked a few stray waves of hair behind her ear as she reached for a cup and then paused, because wait, wasn't that AJ?
Her green eyes widened a bit in recognition and then she smiled because no, that wasn't AJ. She'd just left AJ three minutes ago. She brought the cup to her mouth and took a sip and then walked over to him because this was CJ Walker and it wasn't like she liked him or anything. He was just, you know, interesting. And adorable. He was a mirror image of AJ but Lauren knew AJ enough, knew that what made them different were the way their carried themselves and not just their personalities. There was always a haughty air around AJ and then there was just...Social awkward penguin air around CJ. Which was adorable, seriously. She smiled brightly at him, green eyes alight. "CJ, hey! Are you alone?"
A glance around him confirmed that and, well, Lauren, really, what were you thinking? Of course he'd be alone. He was always the loner type, wasn't he? The complete opposite of AJ. "Come on, dance with me, why don't you?" She placed her drink on the edge of the table and reached for CJ's hand, that playful smile on her face. It wasn't like he was special or anything because she'd grabbed guys the whole night and CJ, well, CJ was a guy, too and she did want to dance with him. Show him a good time and pull him away from his corner. "Please? I promise not to step on your toes."

Nathalie couldn’t decide if she was having a really awkward time or if she was in denial and was actually enjoying herself. Sure, she wished she was wearing a little more clothes, but with the help of Eddy, and deniably herself, she looked like a slut… And she was somewhat getting used to it. With a grin to Conor and a squeeze to his shoulder, she announced that she was going to go to the bathroom and get them something to drink and would be back quickly.
In all honesty, the dark haired girl was on a mission… to find one handsome CJ Walker. She wondered how her best friend was holding up because things like homecoming and other dances and parties typically didn’t hold Nathalie or CJ in them. The boy because he was socially awkward and Nathalie because she didn’t do things like crazy dresses and makeup and whatever else was associated with social gatherings and teenage girls. The more Nathalie thought about it though, the more she realized how much she was enjoying herself at this thing.
She was almost regretting having told Conor that she couldn’t dance because she kind of wanted to dance now. As of recently, Nathalie found herself being heavily influenced in what was going on around her and she wanted to try the whole… spectrum of dancing instead of just the formality that she had taken lessons for. So she continued looking for CJ, remembering how she had promised him a dance or two. She lapped the area once, running into a few of the guys that she talked to in her classes, making sure to say hi because she was on some sort of high and she had to keep from blushing as a few actually stumbled over their words and asking if that was really the Nathalie Griggs from this or that class. A few girls that she had never exchanged words with had stopped her as well, complementing her on her choice of dress and it was weird because they seemed to know her name. Who knew wearing less clothes got you more attention?
Finally, her eyes caught a quick glance of purple, pink and white near a table and her eyes lit up because CJ. She had finally found him and he looked so… beautiful. Hold up sister. What are you thinking? CJ wasn’t beautiful, CJ was your best friend, remember? And feelings ruin stuff, right? Right.
“Hi, CJ,” she breathed, reaching for his hand to pull him a little closer to her, but the hand she grabbed didn’t exactly feel how she remembered CJ’s to feel like… It felt too soft and… girly. This left Nathalie remotely confused so she stepped a few steps forward to see exactly whose hand she was holding and when her dark eyes connected with a female’s pair of blue eyes, Nathalie dropped Lauren’s hand quickly, “And um. Hi… You must be… Lauren, right? CJ has told me so much about you. Sorry about the whole hand thing.”
Nathalie had never actually met this Lauren character before… but CJ had described her to Nathalie a few times and he told her numerous times about how uncomfortable Lauren made him feel. Once or twice, CJ had arranged for the blonde girl and himself to meet up for various reasons but he always seemed to cancel and came running to Nathalie to protection. For that, Nathalie was thankful for the Lauren girl… but she couldn’t help but just want to not like the person who made CJ feel strange. However Nathalie was a decent person who gave everyone a chance, right? Right. Sure, whatever.

Girls didn’t talk to CJ. Girls didn’t even think of him like that. He was CJ Walker for god sake’s, the quiet, withdrawn, socially awkward boy. He was Clifford James. The kid who had a handful of friends and one he always went to because well… The boy never uttered a word unless necessary, never even looked at people unless it was necessary. Because looking leads to conversation, speaking leads to conversation. And his head reels when people talk to him and he gets all spacey and weird when he talks to people that aren’t Natty. When he was with Natty he was free to be loud and rambunctious. Crack jokes and act dumb. In front of anyone else? He was timid, reserved, and a shyness that nobody could match. In which, when anyone asked him to do something, he wouldn’t hesitate to say yes, because that’s how you made people like you? And he didn’t want to get into even more conversation about why he didn’t want to do something, because then he would freak out.
Then he heard it. A female voice, an extremely familiar female voice, it wasn’t Natty’s, and as soon as he realized who it was, he almost dropped his cup. It was Lauren. He should have known, CJ would bet anything that Lauren could spot him from a block away and in a crowded room full of people. She was one of those people that talked too much, too fast, and didn’t take the hint of him spacing out and taking forever to respond. Lauren made Cee feel exceedingly uncomfortable. CJ didn’t talk to girls, unless they were classified under Natty or girls who wanted him to do their homework or other misc. tasks. But Lauren just seemed to come up to him and it made his thoughts get all jumbled up and weird. And he didn’t know how to speak for a few minutes, so he probably looked utterly retarded in front of Lauren. His face tinted bright pink and his blue eyes utterly confused.
“Um.. Well… I guess. I-I mean..” He barely could finish his sentence before she started going on about something that had to do with dancing. CJ ended up spacing out for a bit and just furrowing his brows in thought. Very confused thoughts and he honestly had no clue what was going on for a few moments. Because well… Lauren was there. And CJ ended up acting like this. Most would assume it’s because he liked her, but it was only because people were just overwhelming to him and he didn’t get how people could be outgoing. And Lauren’s personality was just too much for him to handle, so most of the time he just said yes to whatever she said and he ended up getting in deep shit and cancelling. But he couldn’t cancel now, she just asked him to dance.
“Y-yea-“ THANK GOD. THANK GOD. It was Natty. Natty was there. He didn’t feel awkward anymore, if only he could wiggle his hand out of Lauren’s grasp, but he was like frozen there, eyes wide staring straight at Natty as if issuing an SOS, but then she mentioned hearing a lot about her and he wanted to just tell her to shut her mouth, but that would be rude and CJ would feel bad after. CJ just stood there, so confused and not knowing what to do. Two girls around him. Two of them, he didn’t know if he could handle that.
“H-Hi, Natty. I-I um.. I-I.” And Once again, Clifford James Walker was confused an forgot how to talk.

Lauren couldn't help it, she laughed. She threw her head back as she giggled because CJ, well, CJ was always lost to the world, wasn't he? Or to her. He did always seem flustered whenever she was around. But that didn't stop her from talking to him, anyway. It wasn't like she was actively pursuing him - she didn't even want to think about pursuing anyone, not really. There was just a part of Lauren that wanted him to warm up to her, because she might be a horrible little bitch but at least when she talked, people liked her. Liked her for five minutes to be comfortable and to have fun in the conversation. Except it had never been that way with CJ, he was always a blushing mess, spacing out and not very coherent whenever she talked to him.
Lauren's grip on his wrist was firm and she was moving back to drag him with her to the dance floor. This girl didn't know how to take a hint, she didn't. Because it wasn't so bad, she thought, it was just going to be a dance. "Ease up, man. It's homecoming. You can't be alone the whole night." She made a face at it, because then that would be boring. And she knew from AJ that CJ wasn't the funnest person out there but she sort of pitied him, in a sense that his brother was more popular and get all the attention and here he was, awkward and a mess and couldn't even say anything back to her. She liked to take charge, anyways. "Come on, they're playing a good song, too! D'you know how to dance? Doesn't matter if you don't, there are enough people who're making idiots of themselves in the dance floor, anyway."
And she would have started to lead him there when she felt a grip on her hand. Her gaze dragged from CJ to whoever it was that was touching her and her green eyes met dark ones and she smiled, a very charming smile from miss Lauren Levesque. "Uh-huh, that's me." Lauren said, not at all surprised that this girl knew her. She didn't go to St. A, did she? If she did then she would have at least been more familiar, but this was the first time she'd seen her around. Her next words made Lauren's green eyes widen and she tilted her hair, blonde waves falling over a shoulder. "Has he? Have you, CJ? I don't think he would have said anything exciting because when have we even spent actual time together, CJ?"
Never, that was what. Because even if she made plans with him - just to catch up, really. Because she wasn't all heartless and she ignored her friends comments about her being interested in a nerd - she wasn't interested in him, that was a fact, okay? Her grip on his hand had loosened but she hadn't dropped it. Her eyes roamed over the other girl, taking her in. "And who are you? Don't think I know you, pretty sure you don't go to St. A." Lauren asked, still with that small smile on her face.
And then she laughed, Lauren laughed, her laughter this time different from when she had laughed at how flustered CJ was. Her laughter sounded mean as she drew back to take in what the brunette was wearing and god, who dressed her up? "Babe, you okay over there? This is homecoming, not a stripshow." And it wasn't like she was being mean, no, because Lauren was never deliberately mean. She was just oh so brutally honest. "I mean...Oh god, that dress." This was why she loved homecoming - some girls just made complete and utter messes of themselves.
Pushing her fringe out of her face with her free hand, she turned back to CJ, this time her smile radiant and wide, dimples and everything. "The song's ended but the next one isn't so bad, anyway. Come on, you can't hog the punch bowl the whole night. You've gotta move it, Ceej. Show them what you got." And she cracked up at that, too, because god, CJ was beyond clueless and he looked so blank and shocked and Lauren wasn't even paying attention to the girl anymore when he realized that yeah, she was there and yeah, she and CJ knew each other. "Do you mind if we waltz off for a few? I don't think CJ's had much of a good time the whole night," And here she was, Lauren Levesque, kind and just oh so generous enough to help him out with that.

For a small, somewhat selfish and horrible reason, Nathalie was enjoying Lauren’s presence because her Cee was so adorable when he got nervous and started blushing, stumbling over his words. The other part of her was royally pissed off because she wanted to be able to have a normal conversation with her best friend without him feeling uncomfortable because of the blonde girl who had taken the other side of CJ. Nathalie actually laughed when she asked if CJ really had talked about her and that they never actually spent time together, “Yeah. I vaguely remember him saying something about how you never left him alone when we hang out.” Whoa Natty, where did that bitterness and confidence come from? Maybe it was the atmosphere, but she was feeling seven feet tall.
Nathalie reached her hand out and gave his shoulder a small squeeze, before she rose her eyebrows, “Nathalie and no, I go to Lannister.” She kind of wondered sometimes why her parents hadn’t put her into St. Anslem’s because they did have the money and she also had intelligence as well but for some reason her parents had picked Lannister for her. There was always this rival thing going on between the two schools and she didn’t really understand it. The girl had plenty of friends from both schools and it just never made sense to her because really… Was school rivalry really all that important?
Her eyes picked up on the alarmed look in his eyes, and she had to help him get away from Lauren as soon as possible before he wound up hyperventilating into a paper bag somewhere off in the corner, “Hey sweetheart. What’s the matter, cat got your tongue?” She teased, giving him a playful little shove as she tuned out the Lauren girl until she made a comment about a strip show. Her face turned her own light shade of pink, but she shrugged her shoulders, “Eddy Monroe got a little carried away.” Was all she said, not even bothering with whatever was up with this girl. There were far more important things to do, like helping CJ escape, dancing with said person, and make it back to Conor before he became too aware that she was gone for awhile. Maybe she’d tug CJ along with her and playfully announce that she had found a poor straggler along the way.
And then the girl actually had the nerve to try and crack some joke about CJ moving and dancing. Nathalie actually rolled her freaking eyes because… honestly? Had she really asked if she minded if they waltzed off for a few? “Um actually I do. Because CJ has promised me a dance and I’ve been looking for him all night. Sorry about that.” Her voice sounded almost bored… Why was she acting like such a catty high school girl, for crying out loud? It wasn’t like CJ belonged to Nathalie or anything, but she sure acted like it because God, why wouldn’t this girl just leave poor Clifford James Walker alone? Nathalie’s own hand reached back out for CJ’s (and making sure it was the right hand this time), lacing their fingers together. It might have been a little strange for Nathalie to do such a gesture toward someone, but it was Nathalie and CJ, best friends forever and best friends could hold hands from time to time, right? A small part of her actually wished that perhaps it would make Lauren think that perhaps the two had something a little more than friendship and would go find someone else to bother.
“So whatcha say about that dance, Cee? It’s awful rude to leave a lady waiting,” Nathalie cooed softly, giving him a wink that could probably only worsen his blushing and stammering, but maybe he would catch onto her plot and follow along with his awkward, socially inept self.

CJ Walker wasn’t supposed to get attention. CJ Walker was supposed to blend into the crowd. The quiet kid that everyone kind of knew, but never spoke a word too, because he was well.. Quiet. He never really talked. Barely raised his hand in class, barely spoke a word to anyone. Except for Natty and when they were together he was energetic and loud. It wasn’t that CJ Walker was ugly, because he wasn’t. And even he knew that. Everyone talked about how hot AJ was and most of them weren’t aware he had an identical twin brother. The personalities though… They differed. And that was probably why people didn’t pay much attention to CJ. It was because he didn’t want the attention. From anyone.
CJ Walker especially wasn’t supposed to get attention from girls. They weren’t supposed to notice the shy boy who would do anything for anyone, because he didn’t speak up enough to get noticed. And when he did, he was a stammering mess. How he was acting in front of Lauren was the reason he wasn’t supposed to get attention from girls. The blonde haired girl could have manipulated him to do everything she wanted if she said the word. Because CJ Walker was a socially awkward kid, who would say yes to anything when put into a position where he is completely a mess. The boy couldn’t even make out words when she was talking. He just kept his mouth shut and his face was as red as a tomato. He knew if he started to speak the words would be all jumbled up.
But then Natty showed up. Natty. HIS NATHALIE GRIGGS. Not his. But pretty damn close. Ugh. She was his savior and he needed to just crawl behind her and hide behind her. But of course, Lauren’s grip seemed like a chain to him and he couldn’t figure out how to just slip out of it. Holy shit, Nat. What are you talking about? Stop acting like a girl. Natty was acting extremely catty with this other girl and he had no clue why the two seemed to be… Fighting over him? He was Clifford James. Certainly far from special, he was shy, quiet, and socially awkward. But now two girls were fighting over him. One his best friend and the other a girl who seemed to always want to talk to him and wouldn’t let him be. What was Natty even saying? Why was Natty acting like her and CJ had a thing? Jesus, Natty didn’t even call him sweetheart when they were alone. Girls were confusing. He’d hand them that.
And now CJ had to make a decision on who to dance with. It really was simple, he wanted to dance with Natty. Not Lauren. Lauren was scary. Lauren wasn’t safe. CJ would trip over his feet, step on her feet, and then leave her bruised. Because she would make him a bumbling mess. Natty wouldn’t. Natty was safe. Natty wasn’t scary. Until she laced their fingers together, that made CJ blush like a mad man, and he let his eyes drift up to meet Natty’s. This was a plan. He knew when Natty wanted something. And right now, it seemed like she just wanted him away from Lauren. And he would go with any plan that got him away from her.
Somehow he mustered up enough courage; to let his hand slip from Lauren’s and stood by Natty. Smiling at her for a bit, his blush faded somewhat… Because jesus, he felt safe.
“Y-yeah.. I-I… Natty said… I’m going to dance with her, okay? Y-you scare me and I-“ CJ winced as he said the last bit. Because it slipped out and he felt like he was being exceedingly rude and mean and he just felt like he was going to have a panic attack and run out of that dance then and there. He was so confused.

"Weeellll hello and good evening to you, Nathalie." The smile on Lauren's face was misleading, the way a cheek showed a dimple and the way her green eyes glinted. It was all so misleading, how she could look so open and inviting and willing to be friends with this girl. But when she laughed again, this time her grip slackening around CJ's, well, it didn't sound all too nice. Or friendly, really. "Oh god, Eddy Monroe? Whoroe? You know that bastard?" Lauren managed to get out as she looked at Nathalie as if she had just grown two heads. Was she stupid? Had she really allowed Eddy to help her out for homecoming? "You're fucking insane if you trusted him with that." But seeing as she did - trust him with that - and seeing as she came to homecoming dressed like that, hah. Her sanity needed to be checked.
She wanted to roll her eyes at how dense CJ was, really. Or how he was just stiff over there, a blushing mess. She had half a mind to reach over and pinch his cheek and scream at him to look at her, to focus on her but she didn't because then that would kill CJ, wouldn't it? She was sure as hell it would. One eyebrow rose though as Nathalie said that no, you can't dance with CJ and the side of Lauren's mouth tugged up slightly when she saw her lace their fingers together. Lauren took a step back, dropping CJ's hand and placed her own on her hip and looked them over, a very slow look that started from their head to their foot and then back up again. She looked at both of them again, with those unnerving green eyes of hers and then she smiled.
"Yes, sure. You've been looking for him all night, isn't that just obvious?" Her tone was light, friendly even as if she was accepting this and ready to step back. "What about your date, though? Pretty sure you didn't allow Whoroe to dress you up like a total slut if you didn't have a date." Her fingers tapped at her hip and she turned for a bit, twisting away from them to reach for a glass of punch. She raised the glass to her lips and then smiled at them, because as much as she wanted to do that for dramatic effect, she didn't. She really, really was seriously thirsty.
"Aww, that's too bad--" Lauren started, but then she stopped, those green eyes narrowing at the last words CJ had said. There was still a trace of a smile that lingered on her face though but her green eyes had grown colder and there was definitely a change in her whole demeanor. "Oh. Wait. I scare you. Is that the whole problem here?" And what have you know, she actually giggled. "CJ, I scare you? Oh holy shit, this is just gold. This is why you've been avoiding me and ditching me everyfuckingtime we have a supposed hang out sesh. Awwww, CeeJayy."
And then she was laughing, full out laughter that made the drink on her hand tip over and spill and ooooppsss, what have you know, it spilled all over Nathalie's skirts and her shoes. Lauren stilled, seeing the damage, and then went back to laughing, even so much as taking another sip from her drink again before she placed it on the table again with a bang. "Oooppsssiieeesss. Well, what difference does a stain make, anyway? You can just rip that piece off right now and nobody would be surprised if you're going to run around nude. Not that you aren't already."

The smile on Nathalie's face might just have been fake as Lauren told her hello and good evening. If Nathalie was really that mean of a person (which she felt like it in the presence of Lauren) and a frequent curser, she might have just let a, “Bitch please” roll from her tongue. And her eyebrow raised slightly as Lauren referred to Eddy as “Whoroe” and “bastard,” which made the muscle above her eyebrow twitch. Defensive Nathalie was about to get defensive, because if anyone was going to call Eddy names and pick on him, it was going to be Nathalie and not this blonde girl. Who did she think she was, Nathalie responded, perhaps a bit of acid leaking from her words, “Funny. Calling people names. Quite adorable.”
Her head cocked to the side as Lauren tried to diagnose her as insane, starting out with an, “of course I trust Eddy.” That part might have been a little bit of a lie, she never one hundred percent trusted Edward Monroe because he was always scheming ways to torture her like cursing for no reason and making her get the dress she was wearing but, “He’s one of my really good friends. I don’t see what’s wrong with a little crazy fun from time to time. Well, I could see how you wouldn’t want to fun because the stick shoved up your ass must be rather uncomfortable.” Whoa baby tiger. Retract your claws, please before you get yourself into some sort of trouble. But really, Lauren had Nathalie seething and they hadn’t even been standing together that long.
Eyes followed Lauren as she dropped CJ’s wrist and took a step backward, watching as she gave the two a once over after Nathalie took CJ’s hand in hers. Her lips were pursed, waiting for whatever this bitch had to say next. Nathalie had already told the girl she had a stick shoved up her butt so she really couldn’t just step down and had to be consistent if she was going to show Lauren that she hadn’t been playing around when trying to get her away from her CJ, “I actually didn’t have a date, thank you. I came here with my friend.” Which wasn’t necessarily a lie. She didn’t want to consider being on a “date” with Conor and he was her friend, they were here as friends… even though her heart kind of stabbed a bit when she thought back on earlier, not exactly sure what had happened herself.
Narrowing slightly, her eyes bored holes into Lauren’s face. Was she really talking to CJ like that? It was almost like she was begging to be punched in the face, though Nathalie would refrain from doing that for now at least. Instead her hand left CJ’s briefly to push backward on his chest, stepping in front of her best friend, “I don’t think you’re quite as terrifying as CJ does. And if you really knew what was good for you, you’d lay off of him.” Nathalie hissed and later on when she thought about this moment in time, Nathalie would have been terrified herself, though not because of Lauren but because of her own behavior, “He doesn’t want anything to do with you and I don’t know why he would.”
What happened next happened just a tad bit too fast. Lauren’s punch was spilling out and the blue liquid fell out over, splashing out onto the skirt of her dress and her shoes. Honestly, Nathalie might not have cared, had Eddy not spent his own money on it instead of hers. It was a gift persay and she liked to take care of things like that and really… She didn’t just spill her drink on her? Nathalie reached to the table, picking up a cup of the blue liquid herself, guessing that it had been CJ’s from his close proximity to the cup that it had been his, and promptly tossed the cup, liquid and all straight for Lauren’s chest, “Oh, sorry. I must have missed the trashcan,” she said, pausing as her eyes looked for the trash bin that was really no where near Lauren, “But I’m actually surprised how much you look like one.” Nathalie smirked, before she turned around and smiled at CJ, taking his hand again with a comforting squeeze.
“It’s okay, CJ,” she whispered, comfortingly to the cowering boy, “Natty’ll always be here to protect you.”
With that, Nathalie started to lead CJ away so he could re-gather and calm himself before they actually got to that dance.

CJ Walker was incredibly awkward in this sitatuion… Why was his best friend acting so catty to Lauren? He knew reasons why other girls would be catty to Lauren, because frankly she was insanely scary and she frightened CJ more than any other girl in this whole school. But Natty wasn’t supposed to act like that, she was cool, calm, and collected. She was CJ’s backbone when he needed it the most, but now her and Lauren looked like they were about to have a cat fight and CJ really didn’t want any part of it. But he had already become a part of it, the two girls were fighting over him. Over Clifford James Walker, the most socially awkward boy in St. Anslem’s, he was brutally confused.
So he just stood there, his face pink and his eyes anxious. Clearly, he was freaking out, but not making a sound because he couldn’t. As much as he wanted to tell both of the girls to just stop and shut up and knock it off because they were acting ridiculous. Mostly Natty though, because Natty never acted like this. Why was his homecoming leading to him being utterly scared and in a panic and being fought over by two girls, one he really wanted to spend his time with and the other one who terrified the hell out of him. He knew Natty was capable of acting scary, but not catty. But she was a girl wasn’t she?
Now CJ was screaming inside his head, stick up her ass? Really Natty? He wanted everything to stop because he was honestly really scared and had no clue if he was going to faint or what, he really didn’t want to, but he was getting so overwhelmed by the whole situation he desperately wanted out of, but he knew he was caught in it no matter what he did, he was going to be stuck here. In between two girls who were about to claw each other’s eyes out and there he was cowering, he was a guy. He was supposed to be.. Strong. But he was anything but.
And that became extremely obvious when he was pushed back and Natty stood in front of him, he was starting to get extremely overwhelmed, because of what Lauren just said to him, she was scaring him even more now and he wanted to runaway and never come back to homecoming, this had to be the worst night ever. And then Lauren made the mistake of purposely spilling the punch on Natty. Fuck. This was about to go downhill fast and he was right, Natty took his cup and tossed the punch right on Lauren’s chest, his eyes widened at what she said and he furrowed his brows. He was getting sick of all this.
As Natty was guiding him away and smiled at him, he frowned and his eyebrows were furrowed and he felt sick to his stomach and he didn’t say a word, he didn’t want to dance, he really didn’t want to do anything. He just looked at Natty and frowned.
“I want to go home, Natty. This dance isn’t much fun at all..”
