`Disease' creates medical mystery

Wed, Dec. 06, 2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It started last year with what Cindy Wick thinks was a tick bite.

Then came the sensation of biting insects from red spots all over her body.

When Wick rubbed the spots, they burst open. From these sores, she pulled white fibers a half-inch long. The pain subsided, but the ordeal wasn't over. The painful red spots continue to appear.

"This is the scariest thing that has ever happened to me," said Wick, 49, of Kansas City, Mo. "I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy."

Wick is convinced she has Morgellons disease, a mysterious condition marked by the sensation of insects crawling under the skin and sores that erupt and release black specks or fibers that are white or clear, or even blue or red.

Sufferers also complain of memory loss, poor balance and difficulty paying attention.

Thousands of people across the country think they have Morgellons, and their numbers have grown rapidly.

Although the medical community is far from convinced, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will investigate.

Morgellons is not a recognized disease but a condition named just a few years ago by the mother of a boy who suffers the symptoms.

Many doctors dismiss patient complaints as simple insect bites or delusions of being infested with parasites. The fibers are nothing but bits of skin or lint from clothing, they say.

"Until someone can prove it to me, I'm not going to believe it," said Stacy Beaty, a dermatologist at St. Louis University.

"I usually diagnose these patients with delusions of parasitosis."

But a small number of doctors and scientists have begun to take Morgellons seriously. Their preliminary findings suggest at least some sufferers have real symptoms that don't fit doctors' usual explanations.

The CDC announced its investigation after a barrage of phone calls, and even inquiries from members of Congress.

"Our mind is open to all possibilities," said CDC spokesman Dan Rutz. "We know that people are suffering, but we don't know why."

Wick's problems started after she moved from Kansas City to a house in South Carolina last year.

One night, she said, "I could feel biting all over me."

Wick went to doctors, who told her she had a spider bite, or scabies, or flea bites. She hired an exterminator and used bug bombs. Nothing helped.

She said she saved fibers and took them to a doctor.

"He would totally disregard them," she said.

One time, as a doctor watched, Wick said, she pushed a fiber from one of her fingers. The doctor pulled it out with tweezers and left the examination room.

"He came back and said it was nothing, just skin," she said. "I sat outside in my truck and cried for a while."

Covered with sores, Wick could no longer keep her sales job. Medical bills exhausted her savings. In August, she returned to Kansas City, where her son takes care of her.

"I told him something is so wrong with me and nobody believes me," she said.

Many medical conditions, from insect infestations to strokes or drug abuse, can cause the kinds of itching and skin-crawling sensations associated with Morgellons, said Thelda Kestenbaum, a dermatologist at the University of Kansas Hospital.

Beaty said she thinks a lot of the patients' issues are psychological. Skin problems and psychiatric disorders often go hand in hand.

About 14 percent of dermatology patients who complained of persistent itching had undiagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder, researchers in New York found.

In another study, more than a fourth of 2,600 dermatology outpatients surveyed reported psychiatric symptoms such as depression and anxiety.

Morgellons disease is named after a similar-sounding condition described in 17th century France. The name was applied to modern-day cases by Mary Leitao, founder of the Morgellons Research Foundation.

Leitao's organization, which has about 8,000 families in its registry, has been instrumental in getting Morgellons large amounts of publicity, primarily on television and through the Internet.

"The focus should be on what's causing this, who's at risk," Leitao said. "Research is the key, but in the meantime, patients need support."

Some doctors, including Raphael Stricker of San Francisco, are beginning to offer support.

"I think it's a real disease. It's really quite a strange disease," Stricker said. "Writing everyone off as delusions of parasites is wrong. ... These are people who were perfectly sane before they developed these symptoms."

Stricker is an expert on infections such as Lyme disease that are carried by ticks. Some of his Lyme disease patients later developed Morgellons symptoms. That suggests that Morgellons also may be carried by ticks, he said.

Stricker has sent biopsies of his Morgellons patients to researchers at Stony Brook University in New York. Some were found to carry bacteria that attack plants.

"Ticks can carry plant bacteria," Stricker said.

Randy Wymore, a scientist who teaches pharmacology and physiology at Oklahoma State University, has worked with a staff physician who inspected the skin of about 25 patients who complained of Morgellons. In every patient, the doctor found clumps of fibers under the skin, even where there were no sores.

Wymore took Morgellons fibers to the Tulsa, Okla., police crime lab for analysis. It determined that the fibers weren't from any known textiles, nor did they match anything in a database of 900 fibers.

"We don't know what this is yet," he said. "But I think most people would agree they shouldn't be under a person's skin."

Skin ailment is baffling doctors

Plenty of skeptics

Although the medical community is far from convinced, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will investigate.

Morgellons is not a recognized disease but a condition named just a few years ago by the mother of a boy who suffers the symptoms.

Many doctors dismiss patient complaints as simple insect bites or delusions of being infested with parasites. The fibers are nothing but bits of skin or lint from clothing, they say.

"Until someone can prove it to me, I'm not going to believe it," said Stacy Beaty, a dermatologist at St. Louis University. "I usually diagnose these patients with delusions of parasitosis [disease caused by parasites]."

Looking closely

But a small number of doctors and scientists have begun to take Morgellons seriously. Their preliminary findings suggest at least some sufferers have real symptoms that don't fit doctors' usual explanations.

The CDC announced its investigation after a barrage of phone calls, and even inquiries from members of Congress.

"Our mind is open to all possibilities," said CDC spokesman Dan Rutz. "We know that people are suffering, but we don't know why."

One patient's case

Covered with sores, Wick could no longer keep her sales job. Medical bills exhausted her savings. In August, she returned to Kansas City, where her son takes care of her.

Could it be psychological?

Many medical conditions, from insect infestations to strokes or drug abuse, can cause the kinds of itching and skin-crawling sensations associated with Morgellons, said Thelda Kestenbaum, a dermatologist at the University of Kansas Hospital.

A Morgellons Fairy Tale For Disinformed Eaters!

By Cliff Mickelson
CMicke1065@aol.com
12-20-6

Greetings, Morgellons Afflicted, one and all:

I recently received an emergency email from one of my close associates in London. He wrote to alert me that the uproar at home over the medical issues we raise concerning our condition has grown to Gulliverian proportions.

He informs me that many members of parliament have stood to attack us in session, and many a pacific vicar in a quiet rural parsonage has risen, wroth with wrath, to attack the medical heresy of our reported Morgellons observations.

It has, judging from the tenor of his communication, come to be a question of our loyalty to the state of modern Medicine, as opposed to the veracity of our observations.

He earnestly begs my advice as how to proceed in navigating this tempest.

I reply that it matters to us not a whit what is said by a parliamentary twit.

And we shall continue to report what we have seen with our own two eyes ...

And...

That some people have been observed to break their egg on the small end!

Now, on to matters of similar medical importance

***

My Dear friends:

One must always preserver in matters of truth. We are a certain group of afflicted citizens who KNOW what we see.

We compare what we see with what we are officially TOLD we should see.

And, guess what?....Surprise!....What we see and what we are told to see are two different things.

We report that. Nothing more, nothing less. This then becomes a source of great consternation and excitement among the slaves of convention who would be our masters.

So, are we liars? Are we participants of some grand conspiracy to commit Medical larceny? Such seems the implication.

Heed me well.

If I say I see something and I am reporting that, then others are free to accept or not accept that. I do not demand either from them.

If others say they do not see that then they offer me their opinion.

However...

If others tell me I did not see that, then they call me a liar.

It is THEY who first cross the line. It is THEY who place a demand.

Yet, they may gnash their teeth and rend their clothes to their hearts content.

Let them pull upon their beards to the point of distraction.

For I believe in my own perceptions first.

Then, secondly, AND in the absence of my own observations to the contrary, I will believe in the politically correct conventional wisdom that General Washington will not cross the Delaware in the middle of winter. ESPECIALLY on Christmas Eve!

It's NOT our problem if some people don't want to believe the earth is round.

Those of us who happen to observe with our own two eyes, how the ship's sail grew slowly higher on the horizon, are now free to sail the seas with no fear. We know and trust our own observations. It is WE who will come upon a new world as a result.

If those indebted to fear say to us: "prove it,"

I say to them:

"PROVE IT YOURSELF!"

We have already proved it. To ourselves. Your need for proof is not our concern.

We owe proof to no one.

We owe proof to no one because we are making no obligatory demands of others based upon our observations. We simply report what we see.

So, What is this word "proof" that I hear howled forth so fearfully from the mouths of gargoyles?

It is a curious kind of "Proof" required by this stone cold beast.

It is the "Proof" of a straight jacket that already locks down the mind of those who demand it the loudest.

"Come back to jail" squawk the parrots!

It's lonely here in the straight jacket without you"!

I say: "PROVE IT YOURSELF"

"Proof" is the last refuge of the lazy.

"Prove it" they say. "We are too weak of spirit, too feeble of mind, to rouse the soul to the task."

I say: " PROVE IT YOURSELF"

Proof is not currency to be repaid.

Proof is, however, a debt owed to those upon whom one would make absolute demands.

We make no such demands.

But, Wait! ... Demands are made implicitly upon us!

Ah! Therefore it is WE who are owed the proof!

I say to them...PROVE IT!

You want proof, go earn it yourself.

We have reported what we have seen. No one is requiring an unquestioning, cowed, obedience to our observations.

We have no interest in leading a chain of mental slaves to market.

That is in curious marked contrast to the implicit obedience to convention being demanded by those who will not set their sails.

So it is with the these slaves of fear. They tremble before their master. If these observations terrorize them so, then let them DISPROVE them. You see...it is THEY who owe US!

Many of us recall asking for others to make independent observations at the same time that we made ours! The moment came, and the moment passed, and lo...the silence of the lamb was deafening.

So...Let them grow up to be sheep.

I can't speak for the others who have marked the Medical phenomena in question, but personally, I couldn't care less what anyone thinks.

I owe them nothing.

I demand nothing of them.

It seems, however, that the reverse is not the case.

How soon they forget. In the end, it all comes down to the individual, the universe, the soul, and God.

To thine own self, be true.

And remember this:

Few if any, are the social and science conventions of the past, still extant today.

Those proud gospels, once mighty, now lay prostrate in the garbage of history.

And heaped among them lie the discredited realities of slaves.

Servile realities that once moved nations and burned heretics.

How proud and certain they once were. Yet the orthodoxy they once so savagely embraced is now just another heresy, a failed weathering in the winnowing of time.

And... Where are they now? Those proud medicinal practitioners of leechery? Those who trumped the divine right of past medical practice? Where are their bosom soul mates?....Those lords of the same false spirit who would not bend to look through the odd invention of Galileo? They, and the levers of power they clung to so determinedly, are dust.

Where now, are the mindless minions that did their cruel bidding?

They too, are dust.

Only the simple observations live on, the perceptions of those who reported what they saw with their own two eyes. And ... as a result thereof, conceived in theory, a pregnancy to question convention.

What did it matter, to those who had no intention of ever setting foot on ship, if there were sailors who said the earth was round?

Others may chose to report what they have been programed to think. Let them hug the shores of convention. Perhaps it makes them happy. That is their right. If you or I or others say that we have seen that the earth is not flat, and that it is not the center of the heavens, then let those who choose not to believe, go on about their lives. But should they choose to place themselves in obligation to us. That too, is their free choice. They must, however repay this debt.

To those who would desparage Morgellons....

I say:

Let them Prove it!

Doctors slow to recognize mysterious disease

Victims of Morgellons suffer real symptoms but accused of delusions

JACK CALAWAY
Special to the Observer
http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observer/news...on/16423815.htm

In 1979 Charlotte businessman Marc Iverson fell ill from a mysterious, debilitating ailment. Many doctors didn't believe his symptoms were real, much less the herald of a new disease.

Because symptoms didn't fit any established medical models, physicians couldn't make a definite diagnosis. That was a crushing blow for Iverson, a corporate vice president crippled at age 28.

But he persevered in seeking research, diagnosis and treatment of what became known as Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome. This led to his Charlotte founding of the CFIDS Association of America. Hundreds of thousands of sufferers have since been diagnosed

A few years earlier, Connecticut housewife Polly Murray had complained to health authorities that her family was suffering from an unknown ailment. Persistence got her labeled a hypochondriac. She eventually convinced Yale researchers to investigate, and that led to the identification of the bacteria that had infected her and others with what is now commonly called Lyme disease.

So, will a new malady that has stigmatized a North Carolina woman and thousands of other Americans win similar acceptance in 2007, or will the allegation that they suffer from nothing but delusions cause Morgellons Disease to simmer on the medical back burner?

Debbie Drake -- not her real name -- of Cleveland County hadn't heard of Morgellons when she turned off the bedroom light one night last March and husband Jerry asked why she had blue glitter on her face. She turned the light back on and went to a mirror, but saw nothing unusual. A short while later Debbie felt something biting her legs and face. Pulling back the covers, she expected to find fleas. Instead she saw tiny black specks on her side of the sheets. Strange, she thought, that whatever it was had left Jerry alone. But the biting and crawling sensation continued throughout the night.

Just a case of scabies?

That was the start of an affliction for which her regular physicians can provide no satisfying diagnosis. Her symptoms include severe fatigue, memory loss and especially the intense, itchy lesions in which strange fibers and granules -- auto-fluorescent in some cases -- appear on her skin. When hair started falling out in clumps, she went to a dermatologist who said she had scabies, an allergic reaction to skin mites. It produces itchy rashes when female mites burrow into the skin and lay eggs. Males roam atop the skin, creating a crawling sensation. Since these symptoms matched a few of Debbie's, the doctor prescribed a regimen of topical medications.

But after weeks and weeks of head-to-toe coatings, Debbie's situation had not improved. "I thought I was going to die. The itching was terrible. I reached the point where I hated to go to bed at night." Drake recalled. "I took leave from my job for a short time and was embarrassed to leave the house because of the welts and lesions on my body."

Like Iverson and Murray, she felt she was being treated with skepticism instead of with serious medical attention. "My family doctor didn't come right out and say it, but I got the impression she thought I was experiencing some sort of mental problems," said Drake.

Later she learned that many dermatologists claim the skin fibers and the sensation of parasites crawling under the skin are the effect of a psychosis called "Delusional Parasitosis." Not so, say Drake and other activists.

It appears that the Morgellons equivalent of a Marc Iverson or Polly Murray is biologist Mary Leitao, who in 2002 founded the Morgellons Research Foundation, now based in Maryland. Leitao got involved when fibers appeared on her 2-year-old son. She named the disease after a medical reference to a similar symptom displayed by 17th-century French children called "morgellons."

At least 5 cases in Charlotte

"The number of cases reported to us by persons with the symptoms has doubled in the past year," noted Leitao. "Nearly a quarter of those are from California. Texas and Florida also rank high. So far I know of at least five in Charlotte, and about 70 elsewhere in North Carolina."

Leitao's nonprofit advocacy group has cooperated with medical researchers at Oklahoma State University and funded some of their work. Debbie Drake attended a Morgellons conference there last summer and was relieved to meet folks with similar symptoms.

MRF and online advocacy groups have pressured the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to escalate a long-delayed examination of Morgellons. That study is scheduled to focus on the California outbreak and will begin the first quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, Debbie Drake holds her head high, and hopes.

Mystery skin disease report....a positive treatment for Morgellons?

By Daisy Baleen
Posted on Health and Healing @ Yahoogroups.com

http://theuniversalseduction.com/articles/...-for-morgellons

I have been Morgellons sufferer for over ten years.

Recently, I discovered, quite by accident, something that is
literally making it disappear from my BODY.

As I am sure fellow sufferers can relate to, over the years, I have
experimented with various "super baths," filling the tub with hot
water and puttibng in things like lemons, baking soda, dish
detergent, laundry detergent, alcohol, etc....well, one day about
four months ago, I was filling the bath and I was pretty dirty from
housecleaning so I put some Sun powdered laundry detergent with
colorsafe bleach into the water, just a tad, because it really cleans
the skin so good, and once I finish with the bath, I scrub it off
with regular soap and a scrubby thing that is regularly disinfected.

anyway, I left the bathroom for a minute or two and heard a crash
that sounded like one of my cats getting into something. When I
returned to the bathroom, nothing seemed amiss, so I got undressed
and slid into the water for a soak.

Everything seemed normal until the bubbles parted, and I got the
sight of a morgellons sufferers' lifetime: those black and grey
specks MIGRATING OUT OF MY SKIN AS FAST AS THEY COULD IN DROVES BY
THE HUNDREDS FROM EVERY SQUARE INCH OF MY BODY!!!!!!!!

And even as I saw that, I also noticed several large oblong
things "dissolving" in the bottom of the tub. I picked one up, and
it was an alfalfa tablet. Then I noticed the bottle on the counter
next to the tub was overturned, and about 25 of them had fallen into
the water! They were the cause of the migration of all things
morgellon out of my skin in a fantastic migration for about an hour!
Brown flecks, black specks, fibers, white patches of fibers drifted
off the surface of my skin like No Problema, see ya later, something
I had NEVER BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH WITH ANY TOHER TOPICAL AGENT.

THE MIGHTY ALFALFA HAS SINCE CONQUERED MORGELLONS IN MY BODY.

The scabs are gone, the fibers are history, the patches of fibers are
all taped to a piece of wax paper and about to be sent off to a
research lab that has requested them.

I am sending you my testimonial in hopes that other sufferers will at
least know some relief from the scourge of the skin.

Dandelion the Flame Point Siamese must be credited with this
miraculous discovery. He is only three years old, but he's a hero to
his long-suffering Mommy!

I've done a little research on the mighty alfalfa, and apparently it
creates an alkaline environment in the body in which things like
CANCER and other diseases cannot survive. So, taking it internally
can only be a good thing, also; but it's the BATHS that made all the
difference in the world for me.

I also tried putting St. Johns Wort in the bath along with it, with
even better results. And for some reason, using the Sun powdered
laundry detergent with colorsafe bleach also helps facilitate the
migration of the specks.

God, I really hope this helps even one person as it has helped me.

It has cleared up my symptoms so completely that I kept forgetting to post this information on the morgellons websites!!!!

QUOTE
**Note from Ken Adachi**

A CRITICAL component in the effectiveness of this treatment is the remark that Daisy made in the beginning of this letter where she says that she added a detergent called Sun with colorsafe BLEACH to the water. It's the BLEACH that caused all of the bubbling effects. Hazel Parcells, who was a wonderful natural healer and lived to the age of 104, recommended using a cup or two of Clorox bleach occasionally in the bath for detoxing, however, Dr Hulda Clark discovered that the Clorox bleach found in supermarkets today is contaminated with traces of wheel bearing grease and other petroleum solvents (which you don't want to absorb through your skin sitting in a hot bath). Yiu can get a much cleaner and safer grade of bleach at Pool Supply Stores. The sell a 12% bleach that comes in a plastic crate containing four, 1 gallon containers. that is usually stamped "NSF" bleach which stands for National Standards Foundation. NSF bleach is free of constaminates.

12% beach is TWICE as strong as store-bought 6% laundry bleach (like Clorox), so you want to dilute the 12% down to 6% by adding an equal volume of water (12% bleach will burn your skin slightly if you touch it with your fingers, so wear heavy rubber gloves whenever you handle it.). After diluting down to 6%, you can add 1 CUP to your bath water and you get a very powerful OXIDIZING action. The alfafa MAY or may not have contributed to her success, but I'm convinced that the BLEACH played an important role.

CBS 46 Investigates: Making Your Skin Crawl

Feb 13, 2007 03:27 PM
http://www.cbs46.com/global/story.asp?s=6066877

ATLANTA (CBS 46) -- A mysterious illness has some people believing that something is crawling all over them.

Doctor Greg Smith feels it everywhere. He calls it "biting and stinging sensations, itching."

His wife Judy, a nurse, feels it too. She says, "I had it just start at the bottom of my shoes, all the way up, my legs just stinging all over."

What is it? The Smiths found a diagnosis online. It's called Morgellons.

Greg says, "You see some things that just make you think there's something crawling underneath your skin. That's just so bizarre and so odd, if a patient came to me and gave that history, I'd be beginning to wonder about their sanity and if they're delusional."

Dr. Smith documents what he describes as the most bizarre symptom--fibers that grow out of his skin. He says one fiber came out of his big toe.

Dr. Smith also claims fibers also grow out of scabs...and they even move across his eyes.

But it's his hair that hides them best. He showed us this sample under a microscope (pictured); it looks like there's a blue fiber in the mix.

Unfortunately, the Smiths are not alone.

The Georgia Department of Human Resources is fielding calls about Morgellons. The agency calls it "unidentifed dermatosis syndrome".

35 people in Georgia have reported experiencing similar symptoms, six of those in Metro Atlanta.

Gary Lott is one of them. He tells CBS 46, "It was awful. Within 4 months I was ready to commit suicide."

Morgellons is not a recognized medical term--and many doctors know little about it, so they aren't trained in how to treat it. There is a debate in the medical field on whether the illness is real or imagined. Like many patients, Lott belives he was mis-diagnosed.

He says, "I had 2 seconds to think 'Well, maybe you are mental', but when you physically see stuff that's going in and out of your skin you know you're not."

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, based in Atlanta, has created a 12-person task force to look into the symptoms associated with Morgellons.

Dan Rutz of the CDC says, "No one here would deny that people suffering is real. We don't for a moment say that people make that up, if they're miserable, if they're distressed, if they're feeling pain we have to accept that at face value. What we don't understand though is what's behind it, what's causing it in these folks."

Finding the answer is the first step toward finding a treatment. But some patients are worried. They believe "Morgellons" is contagious...and the longer the CDC takes, the more rapidly Morgellons may spread.

"Clearly there is an issue of concern that merits our involvement. But whether it rises to the level of a true public health emergency we think is unlikely, " says Rutz.

Still, patients wish the CDC would move faster, saying their lives have been on hold for way too long.

"It's just been life, totally life altering, very much life altering, "says Judy Smith.

So the Smiths, along with Gary Lott, continue to wait for an answer as to what's making them so miserable.

For more information, the Centers For Disease Control in Atlanta has a special Morgellons information and voicemail line. That number is 404-718-1199.

Body Bugs

Feb 13 2007
http://www1.wsvn.com/features/articles/inv...ations/MI39689/

It is a story unlike many we have ever seen. It began with one South Florida woman and has now grown to involve dozens of people. People claiming to have bugs coming out of their bodies. Don't believe it? Then sit back and watch Patrick Fraser's special investigation, Body Bugs.

WSVN -- Meet Kathy Jimenez. Her life is a nightmare.

Kathy: "All my friends thought I was crazy. I lost all my friends."

Meet Susan Hammer. Her life has been destroyed.

Susan: "It's just drained me. It's quite humiliating."

Two women with one thing in common.

Jose Jimenez: "And she really has real bugs -- she has flies, ticks, nymphs. All sorts of strange bugs."

You heard him correctly. Clean, healthy people have bugs coming out of their body.

Susan: "This is horrible, and this is horrible."

Kathy lives in Miami-Dade. When her condition started 18 months ago, Jose bought a powerful microscope to determine exactly what was coming out of his wife's body.

Jose: "I just didn't believe that a person could have bugs -- live bugs just coming out of their body. It just didn't make any sense to me."

And, to be perfectly honest, at first I didn't believe it either. We asked Kathy to scrape her skin. Then we watched as Jose put it under the microscope to see what was there.

Patrick Fraser: "There's no doubt what that is."

It seems clear: a bug. And, if you are amazed, look at this. Every morning, when Kathy wakes up, the bed is covered with what appears to be pepper.

Jose put the pepper-looking substance under a microscope. It's amplified 100 times and is shocking.

Jose: "You can see it there, how it's moving. When it's all done, it just retracts right back into the cocoon, and again, it's just a piece of dirt if you didn't know any better."

At first, doctors told Kathy she was, to put it politely, off the deep end. This one wrote she needed psychiatric help.

Jose: "We are all crazy, and these pictures are figments of our imagination, and somehow we're able to photograph delusions."

Other doctors examined Kathy and watched as she contstantly scratched her itching body and told her they couldn't find anything wrong. Jose is convinced they are afraid to admit bugs are living in her body.

Jose: "Most doctors don't want to be labeled with that diagnosis because they get blackballed from the entire medical community."

Jose then sent slides to Harvard University and the CDC. Both had the same conclusion.

Jose: "One person said, yes, they're parasites, they're anthropods, but they don't think that they're coming from you. You're just being bitten."

But Kathy and Susan are not the only ones we found that have bugs in their bodies.

Trisha Springstead: "I probably have 50 people underground."

Trisha invented a cream that treats skin disorders like psoriasis. And people infected with this bug disorder came to her after doctors couldn't cure them. People like this beautiful young woman, who can't understand why bugs come out of her young arms. Or this woman, who has had the disease so long she says she has learned to live with it.

Trisha has talked to many of them and says many more are too ashamed to admit they have the problem.

Trisha: "They don't want to lose their jobs. They don't want to lose their reputations. They're horrified, and I'm going to advocate for them. I won't shut up. I won't."

Trisha says others who have microscopic bugs coming out of their skin are misdiagnosed. Sometimes they are told they have scabies or shingles, in part because many doctors don't recognize the problem.

Trisha: "I think they want do the right thing, but they are too used to looking in a textbook and saying, 'Well, if this is this, and this is this, it's delusions of parasitosis. Let's put them on anti-psychotics."

With no cure, Susan can't work and can't go out in public.

Instead, she sits at home and pulls these long things out of her body. She is left frightened, frustrated and furious.

Susan: "This needs to be cut. It's just horrible, when you've tried everything in the whole world and, you know, try to maintain your dignity and your integrity."

Susan has suffered for nine months. Kathy has struggled for 18 months and has just given up.

Kathy: "I just want to die."

Lillian Rivera: "The Health Department is taking this very seriously."

But now, the people who have this unique problem are getting some attention.

After we told the Miami-Dade Health Department about Kathy's condition, they sent a team into the Jimenez house to start investigating, to try and determine what is happening to these people.

Lillian Rivera: "Right now, to us it's a mystery. We do not know if it's an emerging infectious disease or a parasitic disease, at this time. We don't have enough information. We haven't confirmed a diagnosis, so we are investigating, and, until we have the final investigation, we cannot say."

At least someone is listening to Kathy, instead of telling her she is crazy.

Jose: "What would I like? I'd like to see all of these things gone from her body. I think that you're going to be seeing more of these cases."

Trisha is certain of that and is convinced these bugs that are infecting human bodies are a warning sign of things to come.

Trisha: "If we don't do something soon, this is the next epidemic. This is the next plague."

A frightening thought, but, clearly, this appears to be a frightening reality.

Patrick Fraser: "What did you think when you saw the legs moving?"

Jose: "You're horrified because you keep thinking, how does something like this come out of a person's body?"

How, why, and what can be done?

"I want somebody to help me. I want somebody to give me the right medicine to help me."

Hopefully, Kathy, somebody will.

U.K. Morgellon's Victim Gathering Evidence of
Monsanto, BASF, and Tom Delay Complicity

By Andy Coyle <andy.coyle1@btinternet.com>
February 25, 2007

My name is Andy Coyle and I have suffered from a disease that has come to be known as morgellons disease. I have received no help from the medical community even though I recently presented them with video evidence see ( www.youtube.com/morgellons ) of this organism emerging from my head, and over 100 still images of these organisms. at the address given therein.

I was forced to research the cause of the disease myself and discovered to my horror that its cause is due to the genetic modification of a predatorial organism and its homicidal bacterial passenger, by US scientists through a convenient loophole in US law. They have subsequently sold and released billions of trillions of these transgenic organisms into the environment and made billions of dollars as a result of their sale as pest control agents.

The research I have done has been submitted to The Lancet infectious Disease website and can be viewed at ( http://andycoyle1.wordpress.com/ ) It is being considered for publication by them and I have attached a copy for you to read if you choose to do so. Within this report it was made clear that the FIFRA ACT (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) made it possible for transgenic organisms to be created and released without suitable oversight or debate.

I am currently investigating the links between those who stood to benefit most from the FIFRA Act. Already I have found the fingerprints of Monsanto, BASF, Tom Delay (former pest control agent then House Majority Leader Republican), The US Republican party and of course the Bush family! Already I have unearthed considerable facts and evidence that I hope to have ready to submit to our UK Prime Minister on the
petition delivery date.

The threat to the UK is real and upon us now. The 112th MEETING OF ACRE ((Advisory Committee on Releases to the Environment) sic)) IN ROOM 6A/B, ASHDOWN HOUSE, LONDON, took place on THURSDAY 7TH DECEMBER 2006, and was followed by another on the
Thursday 22 February 2007 at 10.30am in Ashdown House. This committee is nothing more than a ratification body for Monsanto and BASF, their advice for permissions to be given for GMO potato crops planting in the UK, DESPITE THEIR BEING NO PUBLIC INTEREST IN GMO FOODS! shows that nothing will stop them in their pursuit of cataloguing and controlling species in order to profit from the control of nature!

I ask that you help me get this investigated by signing my petition to the UK Prime Minister at ( http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Nematode-Nemesis/ )

If you are not a UK resident, or citizen, please sign my international petition edition at ( http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/363838789 )

Finally thank-you for taking time out of your day to read this letter. With your support something will be done.

Yours Faithfully and Sincerely

Andy Coyle

Should One Reason With Morgellons Cynics?

Sample Replies To Their Doubts

By James Schaller, MD, MAR
3-8-7

One of the things I learned in my extended college and graduate school work is that most people, including scientists and physicians, have core Meta beliefs about what is possible. These are outside their insight and awareness. We see this in religion and psychology pretty clearly. For example, those with terrible parents often are the most passionate about the absence of God. My point is not whether God exists, but that many with an abusive or absent parenting experience core beliefs about useless parents and a useless God. Another example would be children who have been bullied. Some tend to see the world as more dangerous then others, often even after decades without abuse. Perhaps another analogy is politics. By the time one is 45 years old, it is rare to see a major party change if the original affiliation was strong. Democrats rarely will become strong Republicans and strong Democrats will rarely become strong Republicans after 45 years of age.

In this setting of our core beliefs, the fact is many scientists and physicians are not worth reasoning with about Morgellons. Why? Their presuppositions and ability to explore this illness cluster is simply not open to this possibility. Some physicians have character rigidity and obsessive personality traits that require extreme amounts of data unavailable for many clinical situations. Obsessive personality traits have some benefits in medical science, because they can help a practitioner attend to important small details, but can cause practitioners to fear what is not in their "information box"-their finite brain.

Some are also worn, tired and have limited empathy that causes them to see individuals with obviously clear pathological extreme skin lesions as simply folks who "pick at their skin." We also know that some individuals working in the medical sciences or as health care providers have antisocial traits or are narcissistic, which makes accepting a patient's history, over the doctor's medical world view unlikely. This requires listening very deeply, profound humility, and the belief that we have a great deal to discover about human illness.

Further, the abuse of health care practitioners by litigious patients, plaintiff attorneys, state boards, insurance reviewers, insurance companies paying "reasonable and customary rates" which are only customary for 1940, makes it hard for practitioners to have the time or energy to learn new concepts and explore new illnesses. Some mean well, but are simply keeping their head above water trying to get all the codes right, and manage their huge insurance processing staff.

Further, medical illnesses are becoming the source of polar physician positions. These positions are much like the 1990's politics of global warming-some feel it is nonsense and some feel it is as obvious as basic math. Some of these polar medical topics include Chronic Lyme disease, indoor mold exposure illness, Babesia, long-term narcotic pain medications, long-term anti-anxiety medications, cash pay vs. insurance pay medicine, the value of organized medicine vs. those who feel traditional medical societies are useless.

So I would suggest that we take a lesson from politics. Do not waste your time trying to convert those with strong passions for the opposing party. You will waste your time. Instead, first make sure you have fully and clearly stated your position to your own party and that they understand what is at stake and have an understanding of the "platform." In this regard, patients with Morgellons, health care workers with Morgellons, and physicians who believe this is not simply a delusion and treat it, should be educated and included in all Morgellons organizations.

Next, we should reach out to those who do not know everything and are either open to considering Morgellons as an illness, or are too busy and indifferent to oppose Morgellons illness. Both of these groups, over a period of time, might be open to the idea of Morgellons illness, or at least they will refrain from opposing its treatment if they are slightly educated.

Replies to Common Anti-Morgellons Criticisms

1) Antibiotics can act as placebos and that is what is happening with "cured" Morgellons patients.

The problem with this argument is two fold. First, these are hopeless people who have had some different treatments and they do not generally expect treatments to work. Second, the rate of eventual cure is higher then the expected rate of placebo for antibiotic medications.

2) Anti-psychotic medications help many of these patients so this means they are delusional.

It is sad that some health care workers are very simplistic thinkers and forget that all medications have a vast number of "off-label" uses. Indeed, most medications in the USA are prescribed for illnesses never approved by the FDA. Physicians by experience or study have learned that most medications have other effects and benefits beyond the one use approved by the FDA.

One common use of all anti-psychotics is for the treatment of significant agitation. Another common use is for calming inflammation restlessness and infection restlessness of the brain. I routinely use anti-psychotics for agitated people with infections or medical toxin exposure that makes them terribly restless and agitated. If a patient is exposed to a toxic chemical at a chemical plant, and requires an anti-psychotic to be calmed, no one would think this was a cure.

Again, just because a blood pressure medication lowers the blood pressure of Morgellons patients does not mean the underlying trouble is gone. We do not hear from these anti-psychotic promoters that the skin of these patients becomes cured.

It can be unwise to diagnose an illness purely based on the response to the drug used. Phenobarbital given to a person who is vomiting will stop the vomiting. We would not say they had a Phenobarbital deficiency. We would still look for a possible flu, food poisoning or other intestinal illness-the "real cause" for the vomiting.

I do not believe that any physician in the USA has seen a large number of clear Morgellons patients and that they were all cured of their signs and symptoms and abnormal labs by a mere calming anti-psychotic drug. At best, they were made to experience less discomfort by using the drug-one reason I use anti-psychotics for Morgellons' inflammation agitation.

3) These patients are not physically ill.

Sometimes one looks over the Morgellons work up of an internist, infectious disease physician or a dermatologist and it is clear they are trying to be very careful to limit any testing. Perhaps they are afraid the insurance companies will not renew their contract if they order too many tests. Or they will be wasting healthcare dollars. One can respect this in some cases. Yet I would appeal that Morgellons patients should have very aggressive work-ups. Limiting their lab testing to 3-4 blood tubes is really saying one has no wish to find abnormalities, and one is only going to look for severe organ failure. I do not know anyone who thinks Morgellons is caused by severe organ failure such as kidney or liver failure, so this is playing at a diagnosis.

4) Morgellons illness is not a medical illness, but simply a specific delusion.

Simply, this is not credible because 20,000 things can go wrong with the human body. Why then are the 20,000 possible "delusions" all the same in general content. We do not believe in "diabetes delusions," because we often do extra basic lab testing to catch early diabetes and because we see a cluster of people with the same problems. Just because this Morgellons cluster tends to be restless does not mean they are psychotic-most heart attack patients are restless and are often given an anti-anxiety medication to decrease their fear, which also decreases the oxygen demand on the heart.

Again, if you only do organ failure blood testing you will not find Morgellons abnormalities. Of course you could also miss cancer, very early diabetes and a heart attack also, because these do not usually show up on basic simple lab tests.

Finally, I have found rare Morgellons advocates who report they know the SINGLE cause of the disorder. Yet I find 15-20 common abnormal findings and Morgellons is not reducible to one thing. Indeed, I usually find about 4-8 causes of their Morgellons, which combine to cause the symptom cluster of Morgellons. A small sample of these include the many very severe types of Bartonella skin damage, Babesia, mycotoxin war-like biochemical agents found in 30% of USA structures, Lyme, various bio-toxins and synthetic toxins, parasitic agents, a fully exploded inflammation system in the presence of an impotent anti-inflammation system, and many other causes. In our treatment, we simply list them, and determine what the most important ones are, and just go down the line. Cures never happen in weeks or a few months as a rule, but folks can generally be made fairly functional and comfortable pretty quickly.

5) The skin damage is self-inflicted.

I have a large number of dermatology books, and some show self inflicted skin damage. These images never look like Morgellons' skin damage to me, unless one only looks at very select areas of itching. Further, as someone who has been around dozens of individuals with large numbers of fire ant blisters and itching, I commonly see individuals very agitated with the residual fire ant blister on their feet and legs. In my attempts to invent a fire ant treatment to prevent damage at the bite site or death in a rare few, I have intentionally allowed myself to be bitten 15--20x as I have worked to design a rapid treatment. The day after the bite, many people want to severely scratch at the bite site due to pain and a severe itch. On the worst patients I have seen with massive numbers of bites (30 plus on the feet), followed by itching and picking/scratching the following day, I have never seen lesions that even remotely look like Morgellons lesions.

Morgellons lesions are complex, diffuse, deep and have many types of skin presentations all at the same time. If there is any "delusion" to be found in Morgellons, it is that it looks like the skin organ itself has become delusional and shows a vast array of pathology all at the same time. As a research clinician who invents treatments in many areas of medicine, one should really be careful about simplistic answers in this age of NASCAR medicine--the physician runs from the intake door to the exit door faster then an INDY 500 race car, just to make payroll. Simple answers are often ridiculous answers. And calling Morgellons a delusion with self-inflicted lesions is something that will embarrass medicine in the coming decades-in the same manner in which HIV was trivialized and ignored.

6) I go by studies not people's complaints.

It is very surprising to some physicians to learn just how little of allopathic medicine is supported by quality studies. Most medicines are used for off label uses with limited research. Many medical beliefs are based on studies that disagree. Many positions held in each decade are altered 10-20 years later-this seems to be routine. Medications felt to be safe based on FDA approved studies, are not safe in later studies-usually due to the experience of a few patients. In child psychiatry, major changes in prescribing have occurred based on the bad experience of 1-9 children or adolescents. In other words, massive medication changes have happened based on the report of a few patients and their experience or "complaints."

I once used an enzyme blocker to stop a blood cancer in one patient, and it worked so amazingly, it has become the standard treatment for this cancer and some other related cancers all over the world. One patient changed the treatment of many cancers, years before any studies existed. Many medical problems have very little research to guide us clearly, and we often do not have large, double blinded random studies to guide us.

In modern Lyme disease, it was a mother and artist, who observed that in her Connecticut community a cluster of youth were getting arthritis. She beat Yale to the obvious.

The use of "meta analysis" is common in medicine in an attempt to find out what the very best of the contradictory studies are ultimately saying. Sometimes these conclusions end up being wrong, based on later Metastudies. Much of what I was taught about pathology and especially treatment is already dated.

In conclusion, most physicians have no training in the science of knowing and how to discern their own biases. They believe it is easy to know based on last months journal articles and this is simply not realistic medicine.

Much medical care is mere symptom relief without a full understanding of the cause or mechanism of the pathology. So much of what we do as allopathic physicians is to treat abnormal findings, not discover the cause of the abnormal findings. And we do poorly with illnesses that stump and at times annoy us, because we did not study 20 years to be left trying to understand something outside our voluminous training.

We have a clear large group of patients with very similar troubles, diverse and clear abnormal labs, profound skin disease and they are found in many places, but with areas of higher concentration, e.g., California, Texas and Florida. This sounds like another example of a clear medical syndrome with clusters. Yet, as of this year this Morgellons illness is not in the newest "comprehensive" medical textbook. But I guess there is a reason they continually revise all major medical textbooks, because medicine is a lifetime of constant medical discovery. I only wish so many patients did not have to feel rejected and ignored while health care workers come to accept this medical problem.

Don't forget the 750Mhz frequency and the Bees -2tuff

Honey Bee Die-Off And Morgellons

Is There A Connection?

By Cliff Mickelson
cmicke1065@aol.com
3-9-7

For several years there has been a growing buzz in North American apiary circles concerning the massive and often peculiar die-offs and/or outright disappearance of fully productive and formerly thriving honeybee hives.

As a 'bee farmer" myself, I can personally attest to the occurrence of this puzzling phenomena. Public reports first began to surface in 2004 of massive infestations of Varo Mites in bee hives across the continent. That the mite should cause a die-off was no surprise.
What was a surprise was the heretofore never experienced tenacity and resistance to eradication displayed by this creature.

The Varo Mite has always been a particularly nasty customer for the bee farmer to deal with. Over the years this microscopic pest has grown tolerant to a number of formerly useful control methods. As a result of the increase in pesticide tolerance, the Varo mite infestation of 2004/05 was horrific. The losses to farmers ran into the tens of millions of dollars and the shortage of serviceable hives was widely reflected across the board in the wholesale prices of most agricultural products.

But, that was then and this is now. As 2006 fades to a memory and 2007 waxes full, yet another major calamity stalks the honey bee. But this time the stakes are much higher. And... this time there are no easily apparent causes nor are there any apparent answers. This time the Varo mite has an alibi. The little six legged rascal is no longer found in large numbers at the scene of the crime. This latter day crime scene has all the hallmarks of a Nancy Drew mystery. Entire colonies of bees are once again dying wholesale or are disappearing without a trace. The vacant colonies leave behind no dead bees, no dead queens, and only immature brood that will never hatch.

Bee keepers are bewildered. Most have never seen anything like it before. Farmers simply shake their heads in wonderment. What on EARTH could be at work here?

What on EARTH, indeed!.... In view of the paucity of solid research concerning the recent die-off of honey bees it is difficult at this time to put the blame on any one particular source. It may well be that there is a combination of sources involved. But whatever the catalyst, it is likely something so bizarre that it has never been encountered before by modern apiary science.

And so...With that said I should like to nominate one potential pathogenic suspect with bizarre credentials of its own; one who may have a role to play in this equally bizarre saga...the nominee is the "stranger than fiction" Morgellons/fiber disease life form.

This peculiar pathogen is virtually unknown to modern mainstream medical science. As a result it remains exceedingly difficult to identify in any host, human or otherwise.

Although it's effects on humans is being increasingly well documented by a small cadre of dedicated researchers, what remains less known by the Morgellons-aware public is that this pathogen does not limit its attentions to humans alone. It can be found infesting fauna and flora across a wide spectrum of the bio-sphere.

Morgellons AKA the Fiber Disease is nearly always 100% fatal when it attacks amphibians. It rapidly kills both lizards and frogs. It has been documented in alligators and also found in snakes. It attacks and kills insects with a peculiar vengeance. The pathogenic proclivity of the Fiber Disease is well documented. And...It is spreading like wildfire!

I have personally observed and catalogued many species of flies and other small winged insects who's existence has been abruptly terminated by the Fiber Disease. It often leaves its unfortunate insect victims looking like a pin cushion with a profusion of macro and micro hairs extruding from their bodies.

Could Morgellons AKA the Fiber Disease be the recent mystery killer of so much of planet Earth's Fauna? Could this affliction be the reason that entire colonies of bees are abandoning their hives and disappearing without a trace?

And...What about Flora? Evidence is now being compiled that indicates that many plants too, are falling victim to the enigma that is this malady.

So...Who wants to take a trip to the medical Twilight Zone?....It is here we find a number of excellent photos of what Morgellons can do @:

http://www.rense.com/Datapages/morgdat.htm

The Morgellons organism also attacks dogs, cats, horses, and a wide variety of other warm blooded animals. See the "Pet Files" at:

www.cherokeechas.com

My friends...This thing is a killer and a destroyer of lives. We should not be surprised at all to find out that this exceptionally bizarre life form has lent its hand in the ongoing demise of so many current denizens of Planet Earth, both large and small, including Man's best friend...The humble honey Bee.

Morgellons Defined

Rense.com
4-5-7

Note - This is the most generally complete, current profile of Morgellons as we perceive and define it based on clinical lab data and extremely advanced research being done by a small group of heroic, brilliant private sector scientists and physicians. - Jeff Rense

Morgellons Disease - April 2007

A communicable nanotechnology invasion of human tissues in the form of self-assembling, self-replicating nanotubes, nanowires, nanoarrays with sensors, and other nano configurations, some carrying genetically-altered and spliced DNA/RNA. These nano machines thrive in alkaline ph conditions and use the body's bio-electric energy and other (unidentified) elements for power. There is some evidence these tiny machines possess their own internal batteries. They are also believed to be able to receive specific tuned microwave, EMF and ELF signals and information. To what end is not known. The symptoms vary from open skin lesions from which colored or plain fibers emerge, which do not scab normally, heal extremely slowly and never become bacterially-infected -- to brain fog, fatigue and depression, etc. It is also established that Morgellons nano machines are commonly found in all body fluids, orifices and often even hair follicles, and are believed to routinely achieve total body systemic penetration. It is reported by nearly all afflicted that Morgellons nano machines seem to have some kind of hive or 'group intelligence.' Communicability appears to be possible/probable through shedding of the fibers by the infected and through all normal bacterial or viral vectors. Some fibers have been shown to withstand temperatures in excess of 1400 F, routine sterilization for Morgellons nano machines in all reusable medical/dental medical equipment and instruments is moot. There is also strong evidence linking Chemtrail aerosol fibers to Morgellons fibers although proof of transmission through aerial spraying remains anecdotal.
