#001. respect!
Please respect everyone on the site. That means no hate messages of any kind. Any such activity should/must be reported to a staff member. If it becomes a public post it will be deleted and those involved will receive a PM for bringing such drama onto the site. YOU MUST OBEY STAFF!! They rule this site and work to make the site as fun as possible. We don't want to have to ban people, but if there's a serious problem we will take action and there will be consequences. Now we don’t want anything like that so PLEASE listen and respect the staff and their decisions.

#002. use common sense!
Here's the thing, we are here to enjoy role-playing, so we appreciate any real life drama to be just that real life, please keep it away from the site. If we see it there may be consequences. Don't steal. That goes for graphics, applications, original characters and anything else. Please give credit where credit is due. Please keep out of character swearing of any kind to a minimum. Read the Main Plot so you have an idea of what's going on.

#003. rated PG-16/ mature!
We're not a porn site, but we're mature, so you can expect to see mature content on here. however! Out of respect of the members, if you wish to create a sex thread, or anything or that sort, please make a note in the description, so we can be prepared! But at the same time, don't go too far. we don't want to get in trouble for having anything inappropriate on here now, do we? If any of the staff think you've gone too far, you can expect a short pm in your direction as a warning. if it continues, further action will be taken.

#004. registration!
Register with your character's first and last name. No nicknames. Shortened names are okay. That means Timothy can be Tim. No Code names! That's with the exceptions of certain canon characters listed in the canon list. If you registered before reading, PM an admin so we can fix it. We do not want to see: anna678. So try to do it right the first time.

PLEASE do not register on the site and then never come on after that. We like people who're active. If you disappear for a while and know that you will, post in absences. If you're leaving for good tell an admin so they can deal with it and not have to wait for missed activity checks to do so.

#005. characters!
There is no character limit, we just ask that you keep them all as active as possible. If there comes a time where a character is not used for a long time then you may be asked if you would like the character to be deleted.

Application/Acceptance
You must post an application and be accepted before you begin role-playing. The new topic should be in either "Completed Applications" or "Incomplete Applications" depending on how far you finished. After the form has been filled, the form will be looked at and moved accordingly. Please use the application found in the "Apply" board. Keyword: resistthedarkness. If you need help an admin will gladly assist you. And please use our template; it's there for a reason.

You have to be accepted by an admin before you RP.

Canons & Canon Relations
Canons are first come first serve. However if you can no longer play the canon, then inform an admin and the canon will be once again available. If you miss the activity checks for the canon you play the canon will be open again for someone else to play.

If you want your original character to be related to a canon, please PM Alexa Callahan (me) first so I can approve it. But you also have to PM the canon. That way it's okay with them. It's first come first serve, but I'll look over your character as well. Once it's approved by both the head admin (Alexa Howlett) and the canon...knock your self out.

Nyx Positions List We have a positions list for Nyx characters, it is first come first serve for low level positions. For positions such as the leaders and the department heads or experts you will need to send an audition out to the admins. More info is here: Nyx Positions #006. powers!
There is a three-power limit. "Broad" powers, or powers with inclusive details i.e.: ESP= precognition, astral projection, medium ship etc., are allowed, but keep it to a minimum status. Don't like put every power that falls under "Psychic" and call it one. Keep inclusive powers under a "broad" power to six. If you know your character will only use certain aspects of a "broad" power but still has the others then post which ones they'll be using the most. "Broad" powers are counted as two powers for the three you are allowed. (Note for returning members: If you had a character on Starlight Gift 1.0 you can keep their Broad Powers as one. However, any new charries must count this as two powers) Make sure you explain ALL aspects of your character's powers. Also if at any point during RP you decide that your character is going to be experimented on and gains a new ability from the original three. You may only do that twice and I must okay it. If you don't tell me, then I will warn you.

The more power the more weaknesses. That's kind of a given. But, if you can't figure out good weaknesses while writing the profile, that's okay as long as while you're rping you see the weaknesses your character might have and then just edit your profile and it'll be all good. Make sure you add personality strengths and weaknesses as well.

#007. word count!
We do not have a word count so that means you can write as much as you want/can. However that does not mean we allow one-liners. Those are just no fun, the story doesn't progress and we want the story to progress. Try to keep your word count close to your role-playing partner, they don't want to write a long post and get a short reply in return.

#008. posting!
1. Posts must be in third person and past tense. It is also known as story posting. Remember, you're making a story with other people when you RP in a topic. So posts should be in third person, past tense. That means NO chat-speak and please avoid one-liners. Anything out of character must be put in parenthesis. POST IN SEASON. The season will be posted in the sidebar and will change upon activity usually.

2. If there are names in a topic description the topic is closed for those characters only. That doesn't mean you're posts won't be there. It means you can't post there because closing topics completely shuts out everyone including characters that the topic is for. So if your character's name is not there but there are other names...DON'T POST!

3. If the topic is 'Open' then anyone may post. Just make sure that when you post you have an idea of what's going on around you. That way you and others won't be confused or lost.

4. Avoiding one-liners is hard. But please try and write out in as much detail as you can. It makes the topic all the more fun and interesting.

5. All students underage and between the ages of 14-18 should attend Bayville High School.

6. Stay in character. Remember to think of the character in a general sense as well. Yes this is mainly for canon characters but sometimes original characters go out of character and out of the original set boundaries in their application will be forewarned.

9. VERY IMPORTANT! NO GOD MODDING. We don't tolerate and it becomes very hard to rp if someone god mods. So just don't do it.

#009. activity!
You must keep all characters active. This includes original and Canon characters. But I know that you can't constantly keep them active. Active=as active as possible. So if one of your characters hasn't posted because he/she isn't in a topic then that's fine. There will be activity checks every month and you'll be notified of them.If you miss three consecutive activity checks then your characters will be deleted and applications moved to the "Dead Bios" forum

#010. graphics!
Graphics I’m not really picky about. I will say that there will be no nudity in the signatures or avatars. Please, please, please, do NOT make your signature too big, and/or stretch the board. If it is too big I will ask to have it resized. The reason I don’t have a size limit is because it’s hard to make sizes exact and it limits creativity. So please just be aware of the size. For avatars, the maximum dimensions is 200x300 read widthxheight. If you have songs linked in your signature make sure to claim them on the Song Claim. Only the songs linked in a signature can be claimed.

#011. FAQ!
We do have a "FAQ" thread in our Help/Suggestions board. This is where you'll be able to request a home, dorm or room for you character if you so desire. Also a few common questions are answered there as well. #012. have fun!

1st Offense= Warning sent in a PM
2nd Offense= Suspension of account for a day (PM issued)
3rd Offense= Suspension for five days (PM issued)
4th Offense= Ban for a three days...or more (case by case) (PM Issued)
5th and Final Offense= Permanent Ban and Deletion of Characters (No PM issued)

banned!
If you have been banned from the site you will not be able to see anything on the site except maybe the c-box. However you will not be able to plead your case there. To plead your case you will see the “Court of Starlight Gift” board. There you will see a topic with the reasons for being banned. Now if you would like to plead your case you may do so in that topic. The staff will discuss and will make a verdict.
