Hi. Um, you might want to go to the new site:

s1.zetaboards.com/SSBRP/

There may not be many people there right now but I'm trying to get things back together.

Ha! Is this for real? I happen to get curious one day, and someone's checked in here this recently? How's that for coincidence?

I haven't shown my face at the new site in... well, I pretty much just haven't shown it for various reasons. Any interesting news for me?

Hi, dude! It's good to see a familiar... um, someone who I'm relatively familiar with on the internet and has since changed his handle. It's good to see that. Heh.

How are things?

Meh, the usual. SSBRP's still dead, Iroh packed up shop and handed the reins over to a lackey, CRRP likes to pretend it's better and its mods are all ULTIMATE GLYDE LASER!!s, Zelda made a cameo appearance at CRRP, Dag is emo, and Shihirin is getting nowhere, though I've uploaded more concept ideas since then onto the forum.

Was thinking of remaking the old SSBRP back into like a "SSBRP Redux" sort of thing, where it'd just be a refined version of the previous ruleset, but Lucca talked me out of it.

Talking about affiliated sites like that isn't a good idea anymore. Not saying you have to apologize, but you really shouldn't talk about sites that you've obviously not been to.

Anyways, welcome. Yes, you can't stay here (well you can but you can't really do too much). However I suggest that you move on over to Legends of the Macroverse or Celestial Refresh RP. Both sites are full of great role playing experiences and nice staffs (though LoTM's is still new and the staff work force needs development). But I'm sure you'd find yourself a nice role playing home at either site. licking_boo.gif

Considering I've got a profile at CRRP and SSBRP: LotM, I believe I can talk of them as I please.

He quoted you, but from the context it would make more sense to assume that he was directing that at me, since my news post is based mostly on hearsay and it's pretty obvious. Eheh...

It's also probably safe to assume that this thread has transcended its original introductory purpose to become a random conversation between old members, which is fine with me given the state of this place.

My biggest regret about how it ended - besides the whole 'I miss my friends!' bit, of course - is that we never bothered to wrap up the story in the process. It felt a little like my favorite series was canceled when its very last episode ended on a cliffhanger. I eventually came up with an explanation to the effect of, 'Lucca figures out how to undo what Ganondorf did in the first place, then excitedly charges ahead and does it without even bothering to warn anyone first.' Were I to write it out formally, hilarity and/or drama would then ensue, but the terseness of this short version is entertaining enough to keep me at peace with the situation.

Seeing as how Legends isn't moving at all...a new SSBRP is starting to sound good. However it would be greatly opposed, I'm certain of that much.

If Legends IS going to stay..then some new staff is required. Because at the speed the site is currently going, it may be 2 years before the site's up and running.

Well, it's a bit 50/50 in the old community according to the idea of rebooting afresh.

Personally, I'd like to just make a more sensical story entirely if we were to actually go through with it, mainly cutting out most of the earlier years stuff- that which probably could not be replicated, and most of it wasn't important anyways. Probably everything that occurred between Rock leaving and Rock coming back would be included in there as a possibility of acceptableness.

I automatically vote with Lucca and say no to making a straight-up refresh. You (we?) can go off and try to start a new thing, but we can't just start over and pretend that we can get the same SSBRP, as that would be impossible. I for one wouldn't be able to enjoy it. Besides, it's better to pursue the ideal of 'something good' than that of recreating something from the past - it allows for you to end up with something even better.

If you liked the game's premise enough to try and start something similar, try to get the LotM to work. I think that you have a pretty good chance at it. Just do whatever you can to make sure that people are still having fun in their various ways, and the rest will probably follow.

I don't think that ol' Super Doctor Iroh Rock was a bad guy, or even that bad of an administrator, but he did have a tendency to push people's buttons and make community-building difficult. For SSBRP, we had Lucca, Zelda and Tails around to absorb the responsibility and offset Rock's eccentricities. You guys can try to do the same for LotM.

Put your own spin on it.

In order for me to be of any real help on LotM, I'll have to be able to get my hands on everything Iroh's done already. Unfortunately, his pick of successor is a half-decent RPer and a guy who doesn't seem oft to crunch numbers.

I keep throwing out ideas of what we could possibly do on both my own site and to Stranger and Lucca. As I said, people are 50/50 on what we should do, so it's a tad difficult to assess whether or not there is value behind it all.

Also, doesn't anyone use Yahoo or MSN Messenger clients? It'd make this a lot simpler than checking back here every other day.

Ah, I see - so the new guy has the opposite problem from the one I mentioned, heh. My first reaction is ultimately the same, though. How are Lucca and Stranger doing, by the way?

Also, besides the fact that you seem to have every messenger client that I DON'T use, trying to use IMs is usually tough because we won't necesarily be online at the same time. I only get on for a couple of hours (ish) each day, and not at the same time each day... and even then I don't usually think to turn on AIM. Forum posts are a good medium for people with busy, varied schedules, I guess.

So, any suggestions on what to do in the meanwhile?

This occasionally gets updated whenever I feel like throwing any new ideas on there. Aside from that, I'm not actively trying to make anything.
